Great food, owner was very nice. Good spot to grab some lunch after taking a walk at Ojibway!

From the first step in, we could tell this would be amazing - the smell was mouthwatering. And it…read morecertainly lived up to that assumption, with knowledgeable staff and delicious food making sure we had a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to be served by Elizabeth, who walked us through the entire menu and made sure we ordered to our tastes. 1000% recommend the shoyu ramen and the yakitori! A little on the expensive side, but well worth it.

I grabbed a menu to look at it and then the automated text said it would be 30 minutes now. I was just at the hostess stand and who I assumed was the manager saw me just waiting around. The hostess then checked if the table top bar area facing the kitchen is available. Different from the regular bar I guess. I was seated. It took 15 minutes before my server got to me to bring me water and take my order. Mind you, I was the only one seated facing the kitchen. The manager literally walked by me multiple times and no acknowledgment from him or for him to get his staff. I ordered the shishito peppers appetizer, tako-age small plate and the nigiri moriawase sushi plate. The tako-age came out first about 10 minutes later. This is just fried octopus chunks. The batter made it taste like it frozen and fried. 10 minutes later, the shishito peppers came. Scarfed these down in a minute. Nothing to rave about. I kid you not, another 20 minutes for the sushi to come out. Again, the manager just glanced at me and walked by since he was helping bring out plates to the main tables. And once the nigiri moriawase came out, I was very underwhelmed. The size of each nigiri for that high of a price point was baffling. Not to mention the quality of the fish was not good. I've had way better at all-you-can-eat spots. I will stand by that. It wasn't until the end when I wanted the bill, which took another 20 minutes. I legit thought my server went home. That was the only time he said he'd get me a refill of water. Uh, I'm done with my meal. That would have been helpful like 45 minutes ago. He then apologized he was slammed. Okay cool. I was the only one at the kitchen bar area. Service is terrible. Food is below mediocre.

Ambience Definitely…read morea hidden gem that has held its place on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit for over 12 years. The building's striking fire-engine-red brick exterior offers a fitting hint of the bold experience waiting beyond the doors. It's a very small, intimate restaurant, with a cozy feel that makes the space feel personal rather than sprawling. I was pleased to see that it welcomes families, including children--hold the wasabi. Service You may have to wait a minute for a table, but if you're in a rush, there's always the option of pulling up a barstool and dining at the bar. Where you'll also find a limited choices of liquor. The servers were friendly and extremely attentive. I appreciated that they weren't overbearing; they were easy to reach, accommodating, and present when needed. Food The food selections--hold onto your hat and be prepared to hit the fire alarm! The flavors promise to bring some serious heat and excitement to the table. This place offers ramen with a twist, giving a familiar food choice a more distinctive and unexpected presentation.

It was the best decision we've made that day, I got the burned miso ramen, my husband the Major Tom Khatsu and we both lived them! Very flavorful broth, and chewy noodles. The staff was very friendly and helpful considering it was our first time. The only wish I had is that their bao was without dairy, so it could be vegan too. We'll be back for more!
