I attended UO for a couple years before transferring. The education was good, but it's a large university so there are going to be those courses where you're one of 100 other students in a huge lecture hall. I also took several Japanese and music courses that had 20-30 students, so it all depends upon what you're taking, of course. The university itself is nice, a lovely setting. It's an arboretum, with over 500 species of trees on campus, and there are several thousand trees on campus as well. Pioneer Cemetery cuts through campus--yes, I've used it as a shortcut. The Oregon Bach Festival is kind of headquartered here, with Festival events taking place at the Hult Center as well as other venues around town. The Museum of Natural and Cultural History sits on the east side of campus and shares history of the city and larger geographical area. I visited and saw a really interesting exhibit about Black history in Eugene and I really appreciated this perspective on my hometown that I didn't learn about in elementary, middle, or high school. There is the ugly, of course, which is Nike's relationship to the university. The company started in Eugene when the famous coach Bill Bowerman used a waffle iron to improve the shoes his runners wore, and student Phil Knight partnered with him and it took off. Federal and state disinvestment in higher education makes for partnerships that are vital to the university, which is happening here. Buildings, athletics facilities, etc. are heavily influenced by or downright decided by the man himself, I'm sure, which is uncomfortable. Hopefully it frees up money in other places to hep students attend. I can't say my review is totally unbiased because of the hometown connection--it has a special place in my heart for that reason. If UO had had the major I wanted, I would have stayed there to complete my education--but that's easy for me to say as an in-state student. But I know several folks from Eugene or beyond who went there and are also happy with the education they received and the setting in which they received it, so it's worth checking out.

I sent my grandson to a 3 hour afternoon "Animation Camp" in July. On the second day I dropped him…read moreoff to find no supervisor in the area with the children. I walked around and found one, who did not appear to know anything about his class, and vaguely waved him over to join the other children sitting around. On the third day, I discovered that the children were at the center for only the first 2 hours each afternoon, then taken to a park and left, apparently unsupervised, for the remaining hour. While there, my grandson was bullied, including being physically hit below the belt. After this, he refused to return. I paid $180 for this opportunity for him to learn computer animation, and the result was (possibly) 6 hours of instruction, and his humiliation and physical hurt. Shame on this place for allowing this to happen to children.

Logan is so likeable and easy to work with that our son was genuinely disappointed he doesn't have math next trimester. Our son's academic success was directly related to the excellent guidance and tutoring Logan provided. Working with Logan weekly also helped our son's overall stress level. Oregon Tutor was a lifesaver, and Logan is an excellent resource for tutoring.

Fast forward a few months after moving I received a dream job offer at a medical spa that has a location in both Washington and Oregon meaning I needed my Certified Advanced Esthetic license with the state of Oregon to perform the treatments we offer at the spa. Unfortunately hours from Washington to Oregon don't completely have reciprocity between the two, which means I needed to work with a school to make up hours (a CAE license is 500 hours of schooling meaning I had to make up 50 hours). When I tell you I reached out to MULTIPLE schools in Oregon to try and find even a little help to point me in the right direction, Michele at the Advanced Esthetics Institute not only responded to me very quickly EAGER to help me, she went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure that she could help me get my CAE license without any hesitation, and made me feel so comfortable coming to her with any questions regarding this situation. She truly was the only school/person that even seemed to want to help me so I am so so thankful for that - even though I live 2+ hours away from this school, I knew it would be worth every penny and mile to make up time to get my license. From the start, Michele and her employees were always so kind, timely, responsive, and truly made me feel so welcomed and understood with the situation I was going through. Michele even helped find me accommodations when I would drive down weekly, and always checked in to make sure I had everything I needed. Knowing how they treated me (doing me the favor), I can't even imagine how they treat their student and clients - I promise whether you are looking to get treatments, or looking to attend this school you will 100000% not regret it - you will get the best experience regardless!
