I ended my membership at this location after a serious negative experience…read more During that time, an instructor repeatedly stared me down during class and, on one occasion, showed up at an unrelated weight gym I was using and stared at me as I exited. A member also repeatedly followed me around in class and remained within about a foot of me even after I walked away or left the area to get distance. I raised concerns about this behavior, but I did not feel they were handled appropriately. When I raised concerns with leadership, I was told in substance that my concerns would be dismissed and that they would stand by the instructor involved. After I spoke up, I felt the situation became worse rather than better. I also tried to follow up through multiple channels because I wanted there to be awareness and oversight, but I did not receive a meaningful response. Based on my experience, I did not feel safe or supported in the training environment and felt I had no reasonable option but to leave. The experience had lasting effects on my sense of safety and confidence. Members should be able to raise serious concerns without fear of dismissal or escalation. This happened years ago, and I hope processes and oversight have improved since then.

It's been five years now. The taekwondo gym has grown incredibly. When my kids started here, I…read moredidn't realize it was fairly new (literally first year). Many of the students were from Balli's waiting for him to open. Now, as a testament to Grand Master Ahn and his staff, there is probably 60 black belts (45 kids, about 15 teen/adults). Within those, probably about a dozen moving up to second degree black belts. The color belt classes have anywhere between 15-20 kids. Although retention for martial arts is especially challenging (especially high school age), he has done significantly well as is demonstrated by the sheer numbers. What to expect from class: 5-6 minutes stretching, 20 minutes focused on group workouts (cardio, drills, etc). The last 20 minutes is focused on belt specific requirements. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons have Women's Self Defense classes, which include the TKD belt requirements and self defense techniques. Their drills include grappling, breaking holds, and knife defense skills. These are generally taught by Master Anthony. Along the line if additional options available from K-Taekwondo include K-Tribe (morning workouts which varies daily: includes yoga, HIIT, outdoor boot camp, and barre). This is with instructor Gail. Taekwondo purists, this is both in my to scoff at. Gail's yoga workouts are no joke, she makes black belts cry. Saturdays are staying busy too with the addition of Gumdo, traditional Korean Swords classes. This is taught by Master Anthony, 5th Degree Black Belt in TKD and Gumdo.

Master Ahn has great classroom control and is strong on form and technique, but he also emphasizes good values and works with parents and teachers to encourage (and require) respect, discipline, self control, cleanliness, good study etc. The students all respect him, but he's also very friendly and personable. His studio is clean and bright. Highly recommend this studio and instructor.

I have been at this gym for the better part of the year and a half and when I first started, it was…read moreone of the best gyms I had been to. Which is why I stepped around for so long, however, being a former combat veteran I have injuries that require special equipment that was a bit bulky that corporate made a clear to not have gym bags on the floor, I had made a special arrangement to use a smaller bag to house my equipment about the size of a gallon water bottle so it would "be out of everybody's way". They do have a sign that says to "refrain" from having bags on the floor. A recommendation, not a hardcoded rule. Regardless with my drawstring gym bag underneath the equipment, I was working out on. I had a manager come up and asked me to put everything away. This makes it especially difficult as I have to walk back-and-forth between the locker room to use different assisting equipment for my injuries. I explained the arrangement I had with the previous manager and she instead rather sarcastically told me it doesn't matter that corporate is coming down hard. I am not one to argue so I did oblige and since I paid for the membership, I will be leaving and going back to lifetime fitness after my membership fees are completed here. I highly recommend you do not work out here or start a membership here as they are way overpriced for mediocre equipment and any requests take absolute months to fulfill. As a disabled combat veteran I should not have to walk back-and-forth every time I change an exercise to grab assisting equipment to support said exercises. Based on the rather brash and rude interaction with this manager, I will be contacting the BBB based on the context of the sign, being a combat veteran, and the strife it causes me, including that there are bigger problems than gym bags on the floor, such as continuously, drop weights, misaligned equipment, and un wiped down surfaces. Do yourselves a favor and instead of paying for the membership here, just go ahead and go to lifetime fitness because for the membership fee, you will pay here, you will have access to two gyms instead at lifetime Please see the sign below. If this is a rule, then anybody that is dropping equipment, not wiping anything down, or not re-racking their weights should have a stern talking to just like I did. But I don't see any of that happening.
