It was a pleasure meeting Salim, and he handed me the keys with no formalities - didn't need a photo of my driver's license, didn't need me to leave the keys to my car. He said that the car was being sold certified, had new tires and he would obtain the registration and plates for me. The Sonata looked very good, so I went on a long test drive. I also came back the next day with my son on his day off, and he went for a short drive and was also happy with how the car drove. The asking price was fair, so we didn't haggle on the price, but asked for help getting maintenance records from the previous owner, and for a spare chip key. The follow-up service has been terrific, and proves to me that Salim is an honest guy. Being in business for 42 years in the same location means he has learned how to be fair and still make a living.

I can write a very long story, but I will cut it short. My check engine light went on. He called me in and told me that the engine needed to be rebuilt for a couple of thousands dollars. I was shocked. I called him a week later " Isabelle don't put any more money in your car, your engine is cracked" I was so depressed I stayed in bed for 2 weeks reading books. Then I called Salim. CAA towed the car to Salim's. The engine was perfect. The problem was the oil tank and the fan of the rad. It did take longer to fix that was initially promised. Salim made 100% sure that the car was in PERFECT RIDING CONDITION before releasing it. No stone was left unturned. It did take 3.5 days. Parts had to be ordered, some delivered parts were the wrong parts, that does take time. The car is running better than it ever did. Salim kept me in the loop as the work was done. I HIGHLY recommend Salim's Auto Repair. He is worth taking a detour to get your car fix by him. He also shows us each part that was broken and replaced.

Vito and the team here are professional and don't recommend work you don't need. I dropped the car off first thing and mid morning they called me to discuss a couple of issues they found. The explanations were precise and detailed so I had a full understanding of what was needed and why. We agreed on the changes and the car repairs where completed so I could pick back up by mid afternoon. Very reasonable. If you are looking for a good mechanic on the Danforth, look no further - this is a great option. Note - expect to book most regular types of service at least 1 week out.
