I have been going to this shop (not to be confused with his son's shop on Eastern Avenue) for about a year and a half now. In my first few times, I felt completely satisfied but some colors are beginning to show and for me, this is the beginning of the end as just another typical auto body shop that is not looking out for you.
In my most recent visit, .the issue was my temp gauge was not moving from zero and the engine light was on...in hindsight, the repair was for a minor part that would probable cost $20 or so but he had outlined two probably issues that could cost $100 (I dont remember the name of the part) and the other issue being the replacement of the thermostat ($130). Trusting him as I had in the past, lord behold, it was of course the more pricey part that would need replacement. Nonetheless, so I said OK..go ahead....
When I did go to pick up my car, on my way home, I noticed the gauge was still zero (and the cars engine was warm)..so i called his brother who works in the shop too (he seems very kind) and he asked me to bring it in right away. I did, and he realized oops..they didnt really fix the part that was supposed to be fixed...so I had to bring the car in the next day and wait for several hours before they replaced the smaller part (I want to point out they did this one at no cost) but I had a Company golf event planned the morning of and had to cancel since the part that was supposed to be fixed was not fixed.
I went to pick the car up a second time and I pointed out that "so the thermostat wasnt really the issue" and the response with no apologies was, "well it will keep you warmer in the winter and it had never been replaced" - really???So you replace things that just are older but still working..most weird excuse..
Anyway, I hope this long review works for some of you who have been using this shop like I had in the past with 100% trust in the mechanics..it aint so! Or maybe this is just me but I will be more careful in the future and I am quite disappointed really! They should have at least done a dry run of the car after they fixed the part.
On the other hand, if anyone that reads this has recommendations for another trustworthy and reasonable repair shop, please let me know.
Why is it so hard to find a decent repair shop that looks out for you....boggles my mind!!
