Happy to be the first to provide a stellar review for Cats Meow! I just adopted a cat last Saturday…read moreand wanted to share my experience: About a week ago I began my search to adopt a cat- specifically searching for a Russian Blue or mixed. After a few failed attempts to contacts owners through craigslist I landed on adoptapet.com and found an ad for a cat posted by Cats Meow. I did a bit of research on their site and reached out to inquire about 'Maurice'. Michele responded a few short hours later letting me know that the cat was still available, and also mentioned another that may match my search. As they operate on an appointment only basis- we agreed on a 1pm Saturday appointment (2 days later) and everything was set. Michele was a joy to work with and made sure to answer the couple questions I had via email prior to our appointment. I made the drive up from Seattle with my best friend and we were greeted promptly at 1pm when we arrived. The shelter has made home in a beautiful classic house near the shipyards, with a series of rooms and catios (cat patios) allowing many of the cats to roam- while other cats are organized into shut rooms, still allowing them space to roam/eat/relax and socialize. I believe she mentioned that they are currently housing about 30 cats awaiting adoption. Again, Michele was an absolute joy- she was very patient and informative while answering questions and addressing concerns, and made me feel very comfortable as a new cat adopter. I ended up adopting Maurice, and she even graciously allowed me to borrow a crate to take him home, as my cat carrier was a bit too cramped. Maurice had a comfortable 2-hour journey, and has been slowly settling into his new space. Everything worked out well, and I highly recommend Michele and Cats Meow to any and all prospective cat adopters- whether this is your first adoption or not I'm confident in saying you'll have a pleasant experience bringing a new friend home. Cheers!

I couldn't in good faith give Horseshu a glowing review or recommend it to friends or family…read moredespite the fact that the owner was perfectly lovely to us and even extended a 5% discount on our beginner's forest ride. The resources and the good intentions are definitely there at Horseshu. That being said, I had a several expectations that were not met. I feel that a beginner's ride should include a quick 5-10 minute safety overview before riding, an explanation of what the ride will consist of (i.e. "We will ride around the arena for 5 minutes until you feel comfortable, then head out to the trail for one hour, then circle back to this arena."), some time getting to know the horses and being introduced to their names and personalities, time for photos in the woods, and a partially-narrated tour with information about local flora and fauna. None of these amenities expectations were met, much to my disappointment. Therefore, I feel that the ride was not a good value. Our guide was callous and resentful. He used curse words several times which for me was not a big deal, but if I had been visiting with my family (and/or children) it would have been distressing. It's possible I caught him on an off day. I had to ask for nearly everything including just getting the name of the horse I was riding.

I am now pleased to have a water-garden's supplier, as of a couple of years ago, I consider to be a real expert. Bill Putnam of SkagiTek is the man and his store carries most everything I need for my pond and fish. Since they are located in Anacortes, shipping is usually only one business day to Seattle. One major plus with SkagiTek is they carry Kenzen Koi Food, something Bill told me about a couple of years ago. This amazing and award-winning food insures the least organic fish waist, okay, poop! (ammonia) of any other on the market and you can feed your fish in colder weather as a result because it is more easily digestible (follow instructions). Further more, it doesn't contain ridicules ingredients like MSG like the leading brand. The result is, my fish are healthier, more active, have better color and indeed leaner. Since Koi are basically carp, they are bottom feeders and I love the fact that you can get sinkable Kenzen food as well as the floating kind in 10LB sealed bags. If you are looking for a great option for your water garden needs, I highly recommend Bill Putnam and SkagiTek.
