This is a top notch pet boutique.. the kind you would find in a larger city but we are lucky to have it very near to our home. We have been here a few times and the thing that is most resonant is the knowledge of the owner and today, the owner was not there but the woman who was, was equally as knowledgeable!!! Most of the times we have visited have been we were looking for something in particular.. last night we had some big storms /high winds and one of our dogs kept us up all night. We wanted to purchase something to have in the house for the next time something like this happens. She actually recommended something that was out of stock. She explained why she preferred that product and then showed us another one which we purchased. It would be very easy to spend a lot of money in this little store! I totally forgot about this place in Birch bay square. I live in Ferndale so it is almost closer to me then Belllingham. She has really good stuff here all good quality and they only sell good all natural food I trust whatever they sell here is good. The owner is very knowledgeable about all her stuff and helps you find just what you need and answers any question you may have. She has curbside pickup available if you don't want to go inside and shop. And during the covid crisis she has a huge free pet food pantry outside the doors for people who can't afford to feed there pets right now. Check out this pet shop if you haven't yet. read more

I buy all our pet food here. The owner is very knowledgable about different foods and what is appropriate for special needs diets. One of ours has EPI, and is very difficult in terms of diet. Our other has pancreatitis. She has also extended her expertise selecting an appropriate harness for a puppy who chewed through her collar on the first day. We were babysitting and thought it a good idea not to lose the pup!!!!! Two thumbs up and worth a drive to buy local. read more

As a store owner myself I am appalled at the review before mine. Your pet ruined something, expensive or not, and in my store you would have to have paid at least the cost of the item as it would now be ruined for anyone else. My male frenchie has brain damage and I watch him carefully everytime I bring him in a store as I would be horrified should he pee in someones store, just as if he were a child who ruined something in someones store or home. When I went to the store the staff was excellent, and very friendly. Answered all my questions, and were very helpful. Even when I mentioned I owned a pet boutique as well ( and could have been competition but Im not, Im in Canada just over the border) I found them very reasonable priced for many things likes coats and collars, and was impressed with the selection. An exceptional locally owned and operated pet store located in the new Birch Bay Square complex. I enjoyed the deep selection of quality dog foods here including the high quality low-grain and grain-free Merrick and Orijen brands. Very kind and helpful employees who were engaging and warm. They had a large selection of treats and toys in very new, clean and modern setting. We found some unique toys that we made sure to purchase because we live almost 1500 miles away. If I was a nearby resident, I would be making this business my primary place of business to procure food for my pets as well as the occasional treat. Prices were competitive and on par with what I would expect for higher quality items. read more

This family run store is amazing! This is not the run of the mill store. Not only do they carry all possible food sources and supplements, dog toys and grooming products, travel carriers, beds, they have items for the bow wow owner, all with a great sense of humor and style. Look for their dog socks, greeting cards, wine bottle holders, wine glass tag, candles, a neon dog clock. They even have a section for pet memorial products. Make a point of checking out their chic dog party collars, dog bowls. Choose from a selection of baked biscuits: SeaHawks, Mariners, Happy Birthday! Other treats are natural treats: lamb sausage, turkey sausage, beef sausage - all made in the USA. For the serious dog treat, look for their Junkyard bones. Nice selection of natural remedies for when you dog isn't feeling well: Herbal aspirin, comfort aches, bladder care, joint power etc. They are located in a small strip mall and parking is never a problem. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. I walked in asking for Angel Eyes and I was told it's an antibiotic. It's only available online and it's also bad for my dog! Never knew that. I was encouraged to cut back on chicken for my dog to reduce the tears which stain the face. Good information! If you can't get there, order from their website. You won't be disappointed by their wide selection of gifts too. High marks for their big sign notifying customers of dog adoptions! Heather (The owner) is just the loveliest lady I have come across at any kind of dog/pet supplies store. I went in with my pup Bruno after my appointment across the way. When I walked out of her store, I felt confident with the change of dog food she had recommend (a more healthy and Eco-friendly brand), I got itchy spray for his dry skin, I got fish oil to add to his daily diet, some really good pet treats that don't have any hidden bleaches, a great brush to get to his undercoat (he's an Aussie Pom). She was so happy and willing to give me some great advice from her years of experience. I'm a newbie with hidden ingredients in products, she was willing to guide me in the right direction with all of my many questions. Heather thank you for being so sincere, I will definitely be stopping in again when I go through Blaine again in the near future. read more

I love this store and what it represents: high quality, integrity, love-filled products. I learn something new everything I come in. You can tell just from a few visits that everyone truly cares for pets and are advocates for education, awareness, and truth about pet health and wellbeing. The friendliest and highest level of customer service. Good prices for good products. I personally cannot stand going into a store and finding lots of cheap slave labor sweat shop China-made products that are probably filled with poison and terrifying filler products just like the mainstream pet food brands do. This shop refuses to carry anything like that. Quality, safe products only here. Heather helped me transition my very traumatized dog after moving several times between San Francisco and Blaine...now she is happy, eating well, and settled. I took my dog into this store and unfortunately he urinated on an expensive cat toy....maybe he was expressing his opinion of the high price they placed on this ridiculous toy but I think that he smelled another dog's pee and attempted to cover it. I did what I thought was the right thing to do and waited in line to speak with the clerk. She was talking with a customer and didn't bother acknowledging me for at least 5 minutes. When it was my turn I confessed to my dog's mistake and asked for something to clean it up with. Without a word she grabbed a spray bottle and a paper towel and followed me to the cat toy. When she saw the toy (that was sealed in plastic) her face dropped and she said "you are going to have to pay for this". "This is inexcusable...your dog is never allowed in this store again!" I was embarrassed and humiliated as she marched me up to the cash register to ring up the cat toy. She said that I owed over $50.00 and that's when my humility turned to rage and I said that I wasn't buying the toy. She took down my information for the owner to contact me and I walked out of the store. I felt the disapproval from this woman the moment I walked into the store because my dog resembles a pit bull. I am certain that is what it was. I wrote a letter to the owner and she e-mailed me back saying that she was very concerned but she never followed through with anything. I never heard from her again. I wouldn't set foot in that store for that reason!!! read more

I love this store. Yes, it has foo foo stuff, but that's what makes it fun and exactly why I go there. As a former pet store owner, I can say that the prices are very reasonable. Good quality dog products aren't cheap.....and don't get me started on shipping or local sales tax that add to the cost. Trust me, you can't stay in business and give quality products away. If you don't like the prices then order the cheap garbage from Pet Edge on line and watch it fall apart before your eyes. Great, fun, unique products, nice staff, excellent pet foods and just a fun store. Apologies about the rant, but I got so sick of being accused of "over pricing" or "marking up" by the Walmart crowd. read more

I agree that many of the items seem costly but they are things of quality that one can't find at the big chain pet stores. I love being able to support a locally owned store. I went there to buy gifts for my friend's dog and the person helping me wrapped the gifts carefully and nicely so it was ready to give, without charge.
