I liked how the ceiling lamps resembled giant shitake mushrooms. There is a little bar area to the side. I was told there is nice garden seating out back during the warmer months. The menu contains a variety of Asian cuisine, but tonight I had the Japanese green tea (Senchatee) for CHF 7.50 and Yasai Yaki Udon for CHF 23.90. Pan-fried noodles with shitake mushrooms, soybean sprouts, snow peas, carrots, tofu, and baby corn, it was filling and quite tasty. I've been eating a lot of spicy food lately, so at first my dish seemed a bit bland, but then the sourness of the baby corn really stood out against the chewy noodle base and gave it a nice kick. All-in-all, a pleasant dinner, and I'd like to come back some time to try one of the hot pots on their extensive menu.

Mishio is pretty much your typical "Americanized" Chinese restaurant... in Switzerland. What?…read moreIdk... that's the first thing that came to mind. Anyway, the portions are good, the food is tasty, the price is Swiss, the place is modern and pretty, and the people working here are sweet. What's not to love? Oh, it's also not packed at 6, which is awesome as long as the food is good- and it is! I ordered the szechuan chicken and my boyfriend got the cashew chicken, our friend got the sweet and sour chicken. All were 25.50 CHF each, and came with rice. Mine tasted fine, but some of the vegetables were a little too hard. Nothing particularly stood out, but it wasn't bad either The food was good, and the prices were ok, but pushing it a bit.

My husband had green curry, i had red Curry and the kids shared a yellow curry. The portions were generous and all three coconut milk based Thai curries were absolutely delicious! Who would've thought something like this would exist in the middle of "nowhere" in Zürich? (Okay,…read morefine, a little bit outside of Zürich.) I came here with a couple of colleagues during our lunch break - seems like the place attracts the working crowd during this time of the day! It was pretty damned good: I had the noodles and chicken with rice (so, 2 dishes plus rice on the side), and trust me, it's enough for one hungry person - even if you might be tempted to get a third dish. I've had plenty of chicken in Thai food here in Switzerland, and this one tops them all. The flavor was great, the chicken was savory, and went well with the rice. The noodles were good too, of course. And the chili that they offered was legit and quite spicy. My colleague had the green curry (which I tend to avoid because green is usually spicier than most) and she definitely confirmed it was spicy, but she finished all of it anyway. The iced tea was good too and had a minty kick to it. The service, by the way, was impeccable and the guy and his wife who owned the place were super friendly, and even offered us fruit for dessert - it was a pity we were in a rush, but I'd definitely be up for coming back sometime!

I have nothing but good things to say about Gnädinger Bäckerei. I saw a picture of their vegan…read moredonuts on the Vegans of Zuri website and decided to go. When I arrived, I went up to the counter and asked one of the employees if the donuts were vegan. I asked him this in English and he replied that they were and then showed me and explained every other item they had that was also vegan- in English. His flexibility with language was very much appreciated. The bakery/restaurant is large and has a variety of different seating options- inside, bar seating, small tables in the front, and larger tables in the back. Everyone who works here is very friendly and willing to help. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I got a delicious prepared vegan sandwich for only 9 CHF. The coffee was also very good and the donut was perfect. It was really hearty and actually sufficed as a breakfast. It was much more filling than the typical American fluffy donuts. It tasted very fresh and was not sickly sweet. I really recommend this place! They open really early in the moning and go through 9 PM or so.

Gnaedinger is much more than I 'use' it for, to be honest, so this post only covers the…read morebakery/take-away space, and not the sit-down cafe as I've not yet had the pleasure. At the urging of a local friend, I purchased a Gnaedinger gipfeli last week for the first time. As promised, it was buttery-good. I've since been back for more of the same. Yesterday, I was hankering for a bit of chocolate, so I ordered a 'schoggi-gipfeli' (chocolate croissant). Gnaedinger offers two kinds: the usual gipfeli with a standard chocolate filling, and a 'special' gipfeli with Gnaedinger chocolate with fendant centre in the middle. As a relative newbie to the Schweiz, I can't say that I know my way around a Swiss choco-croissant, regardless if it's made with fancy chocolate or not. Still, I opted for the 'upgrade' as I was curious about the fendant-filled delight in the middle of the pastry. The schoggi-gipfeli was worth the 3.30CHF, but, let me say to the uninitiated, expect to be eating, basically, a croissant with a decently-sized chocolate bar lodged into its belly. Part of me wanted to remove the bar and eat it separately, but, as I was sitting with my bounty and a coffee near others across the way in Starbucks, I didn't want to draw attention to myself. Other good bits to be found in the Bakery/Confectionery zone: bread, rolls, sandwiches, laugenbroetli of various description, truffles, cakes and tortes.

When we called in the owner claims we should have checked online, what if we dint have a data plan on the phone or chose to get the total price from them itself.. and to top it off he says " i dont want to create problems for you" seriously!! Tried the Thai Chicken wrap (13.-) and Chicken Caesar wrap (13.-). The ingredients in both wraps tasted farm fresh. While the Chicken Caesar was pretty flavorful and juicy, the Thai Chicken lacked taste. All the ingredients are there, plenty of cashew nuts, bean sprouts, shreadded carrots and chicken, just missing some seasoning to pull it all together (not even salt!). I wouldn't order it again. Drinks are a little steep, 4,90 for an Arizona Ice Tea. Especially when there's a Coop one level up that sells it for 1,65. That being said, I will most likely go to Hitzberger again to try something else next time I'm in Sihlcity around lunch time. PS. All the packaging are bio-degradable. Definitely a plus.
