Unless you don't mind eating outside in the dark with all the smokers. Second....expect to wait a long time. This isn't a fast food restaurant so grab a beer and wait 45/60 min to get your food. Third... Switzerland is very expensive so this restaurant is no different. 2 burgers, 2 alcoholic drinks, and French fries were 98CHF which is pretty much 100 bucks. They have 3 sauces for you to try. Ketchup- Tasted like marinara sauce. BBQ- Tasted like smokey ketchup. 1000 island. Tasted normal. Burgers were great. They were juicy and delicious. Animal Style French Fries were a good try. Def not like the original but so far from home it was a nice find. This restaurant isn't for Americans. Way too expensive for what we eat all the time but I compare this place to the Melting Pot in the US. That place is so overpriced but it's amazing to get your cheese fondue fix. I can't imagine Swiss people coming to the US and eating at our expensive version of cheese fondue. Service was ok. It was super busy so can't really complain but I could tell our waiter was super annoyed with our audacity of showing up , with no reservation, and willingness to wait. And for some dumb reason you can't order "The Threesome" (or Hattrick) with a group of 5 people. 4 apparently is ok but we had 5. Cannot imagine why if 3 people order the same thing it's an inconvenience for the restaurant but DON'T DO IT or again your waiter will show his annoyance.

Arrived with no reservations; great food, good wait times, highly recommend! Everything was to our…read moreexpectations

I'll confess that what first brought me to Friends Corner was the reasonable prices. I had heard…read morethat the area around Im Viadukt had some cool restaurants, but as a resident of central Manhattan, I was shocked that the to see the prices at most restaurants were much, much higher than what I was used to. At first, the name "Friends Corner" seemed like a misnomer to me. Sitting outside in the warm, somewhat buggy air, saturated with cigarette smoke (How many decades will it take Europeans to understand that smoking is stupid and rude?), watching the server zip back and forth without so much at a glance... To be fair, the people around me, lingering and smoking at tables covered in empty beer bottles, probably felt Friends Corner was a perfectly appropriate name. I was a solo traveler and my AirBnB host had her own life, the girl who climbed the cathedral stairs with me had moved on to Baden, I'd somehow failed to properly break the ice with the girl on the boat tour, and no one on my walking tour had met anyone other than the walking tour guide. Friends Corner was not responsible for any of this. Even so, it was frustrating leafing through a menu I couldn't understand for 10 minutes while repeatedly failing to make meaningful eye contact with the server as he whipped too and fro, clearly covering more responsibilities than was plausible for a single employee. Finally he stopped by to find out what I wanted, and of course I had no idea. Maybe something from this 'vegetarisch' section? I pointed to the ones that seemed to come with 4 somethings (curries maybe?), since I like variety. He directed me to one of the items with 3 somethings, but I demurred. He more pointedly directed me to a second item, insisting "It's good. It's very good." So there you go. I ordered my meal without being able to read the menu or know what I had ordered, all based on an 11-second exchange. Ah, but the food! He had directed me to the dosai, which were bread-like but had a satisfyingly eggy texture. It came with several curries and also something that resembled wasabi, yet with a trace of mint. It was quite a sizable portion of food, and I ate every damn morsel of it. Okay, but did the food really make me feel like I was back in Sri Lanka? You know what? Yes, it really did. If you like Sri Lankan food, you've got to visit this place. (Bring a friend.)

I am still getting used to paying such high prices during my stay in this fine city, especially…read morewhen a restaurant is rated with only $$. That being said, this place is a cute mix of nostalgia with a modern twist. There are three burger options for beef eaters - I went with the middle one, Swiss Angus beef single patty ($22) which is topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. The pickles are more like cucumbers that are less marinated but still tasty. Cheese and other toppings are extra. I added Swiss cheese because why not? Also went with the garlic mayonnaise. Let me say this was one of the tastiest burgers. The quality of meat and cheese was phenomenal. I could taste the difference between an average fast food burger and this premium dish. The fries were also good (another add-on cost), thick cut and freshly fried. They have an American beer selection from Brooklyn Brewery. I also saw them prepare a crazy fancy shake. It will not be a thick shake like you find in the US, more of a chocolate milk with toppings. I opted to skip it after my large meal. Ambiance is nice, on the street corner, open with a good view of passerby's. Service is quick for Europe and moderately friendly, depending on your server. I did notice a lot of staff just standing around (maybe a slow night). Overall you will enjoy a fine meal here.

This had good reviews and was located near our hotel so we decided to stop by on a Monday evening…read more They had Vietnamese chefs and also Vietnamese patrons eating so that was a good sign. Service was not overly friendly but efficient. They speak English, German and Vietnamese (maybe more but that's all I heard). We ordered the beef pho and chicken pho, and split the spring rolls which came with four small rolls. The pho was generously sized and I preferred the beef broth over the chicken broth. They automatically give you a small dipping bowl with half Sriracha and half hoisin sauce for your pho meat, which I've never seen before. Toppings (bean sprouts, herbs) came in the bowl instead of on the side as well. Flavor was not exactly what I'm used to in the US but was good enough for what we wanted. Some fish sauce on the table would have been nice, although they did have soy sauce and chili oil. My main issue was the price. 25 francs for a bowl of pho is probably reasonable for Zurich but the most expensive bowl of pho I've ever had. They also charge one franc per cup of tap water which is a bit much in my opinion. Next time I'll just bring my reusable water bottle.
