So it's no surprise that I'm drawn to diner-type places like this. I was really sad when their spot in BF Homes Paranaque closed down (I was a regular there). Thankfully, a new branch opened up in Commercenter Alabang. I love coming to this place for their laidback feel and delicious Buffalo wings. Even my mom who prefers home-cooked meals over diner food loves it. She prefers the Chili N' Cheese Nachos over the Chili N' Cheese Fries though, and I make sure we order both, along with a triple sampler of the chicken wings in Garlic Parmesan, New York's Finest and Honey Barbecue flavor. But what I really keep coming back for is the Chicken Tenders with the zingy honey mustard dip. I'll say it fares better than the ones served in those American joints, for a much lower price. The new place they moved into has more space than the previous one, so I can take my time enjoying my food without worrying about other patrons waiting in line.

You may like some dishes, but the others are totally horrible. Such is not the case for Buffalo Wings N' Things. I don't think I ever ordered anything here that I didn't like. I have been a very huge, HUGE fan of this wing shop even during the time when it only had its first few branches. I frequented the one in Solaris so much because I worked nearby, enough for their entire staff to know me by name and anticipate my order the moment I walk in the door. My absolute favorite is their garlic parmesan wings, which is just different levels of perfect. I have tried hacking the recipe at home, but there is just something about their seasoning that makes this chicken really tasty. I have long tried to embrace a veg diet, and when I do relapse (I make meat-eating sound like a disease or an addiction that I want to curb, sorry), I always find myself munching on garlic parmesan wings from here. I love it with their dirty rice (which I have successfully hacked at home, yes! but I still love the store bought one) and their bleu cheese dip. I would also order their crisscut fries, and this would make up my usual spread. This branch is very memorable to me because my best friend and I ate at this place the night before she got married (We stayed at Parque Espana, the hotel across the street). We pigged out on wings so much that we worried she wouldn't fit into her wedding dress (fortunately, she did). I love this branch because it is so chill , and the usual BWNT interiors (rustic wood, red leather) make it so homey and casual enough so that you could just let your hair down.

In fact, the main attraction of the place are their burgers. Most of their best sellers are sandwiches of monstrous proportions. The Xander's Deluxe is one of their best sellers and rightly so. It's basically their own take on the quarter pounder. Then there's the Xander's Boss which is basically a triple of the Deluxe. Most of the stuff on their menu is American. As I said, it tries to give off a middle class diner feel. It even has milkshakes and banana splits. It is by no means cheap, but it's not really expensive either. The price is justified given the servings and the quality of the grub. This is probably the sort of place where I would hang out with a couple of my mates on a weekend if I had nothing major planned for a couple of beers and a massive burger while watching something on their TV.

I'm so glad because more interesting cafes and restaurants are opening in Las Pinas. While it may…read morestill be a small feat compared to what our neighboring cities (Muntinlupa, Paranaque) have been doing, it's nice that Las Pineros are also coming up with new places to eat and not just the usual fastfood and restaurant chains. Xander's menu comprises of the usual diner food - burgers, chicken wings and Nachos - food I love. Their burger selection was impressive; the Bumblebee's BBQ burger was good, although the OC in me was a little disappointed with the fries that went with it; it doesn't have to be those large-cut ones but they always have to look fresh and crisp, not saggy like the ones they served. But I'm forgiving since they did mention that they're still in the soft opening phase. The Buffalo wings we ordered was delicious too. They also have a variety of rice meals and pasta on their menu. And shakes! I didn't order one the last time I was there, but some of my friends said they were really good as well as the ice cream. There's definitely room for improvement, but this diner seems promising. I would definitely be back to try their shakes, and I hope they won't disappoint me with the fries next time.

It has a little bit of a diner feel to it depending on where you choose to sit. My boyfriend and I went there post-dinner, and we were lucky enough to catch the place more relaxed and with fewer people. Behind the glass near the counter, the pastries were displayed beautifully, and everything looked clean and well-kept. We ordered two cupcakes, both chocolate-based (because dessert isn't dessert unless it's some sort of derivation of chocolate, I always say), and were pretty excited to try them. For a girl with a sweet tooth, cupcakes aren't necessarily very high up on my favorite sugars list, but over the last couple of years, I'd tried enough to crave them once in a while. Unfortunately, I won't exactly be writing accolades about the cupcakes themselves. One was bland (which is a lot to say for something that's essentially a ball of sugar and chocolate) and the other dry. The good news is that we were happy with the beverages we ordered. I'd ordered a mocha drink of some sort, and my boyfriend had coffee. Overall, while I'm not a fan of the cupcakes, I'd say this is a good place to hang out if only for the ambience and the satisfactory drinks.

I appreciate minimal designs more but there are days when I just want to see pink, pink, and more pink. Larcy's is your usual pink and girly cupcakery; what with the spacious place and lightly-colored walls, dotted with equally girly chairs everywhere. I didn't waste any time choosing what to order. I already know what I would get, since I'm a bona fide red velvet lover. For some reason though they called theirs "Pink Velvet". I kinda thought the cupcake would be a little lighter in color but it wasn't. It was still my good old red velvet, in a pink cupcake foil. I'm glad that the one I bought lived up to my expectations. The cake is moist and it has this in-depth flavor that I look for. Not to mention the cream cheese, which has an excellent quality.
