Sukran is the best! And her work is totally worth the money! Not only did she do a phenomenal job…read morewith my wedding dress (Anthropologie's BHLDN Valerie dress), but she also entirely transformed my second dress (Vow's FLEUR dress) by removing the very long train and making it a high/low style that was much more suitable to my petite frame. For my first dress - the main challenge was making sure the chest was supportive (there was a lot of extra fabric in the bust originally) while maintaining the look of the flutter sleeves. Sukran had to remove the original elastic in the shoulders, create support by adding an internal spaghetti strap (I am a 36C/34D), remove any extra fabric, and ensure the flutter sleeve appeared in its original form. We went through 2-3 iterations and Sukran got it perfectly! She does not charge more per alteration - it is a lump sum that you agree on at the beginning and you can pay in installments (I paid a portion of the original total each visit). Sukran also added a beautiful French bustle to this dress. She was patient and kind through every fitting, and she was a lot of fun to spend time with! You can tell she loves what she does. For my second dress, she entirely removed the lengthy train of a strapless dress (Vow'd FLEUR dress) and altered it to be a slightly high/low style. I am 5'1" and the style was much more suitable to my petite frame. I loved it! Thank you for everything Sukran!!!

I had a deeply disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly rude experience at Anthropologie bridal…read moreon 5/2 with a stylist named Aracely. I came in looking for an off-the-rack dress for a city hall ceremony followed by photos in Central Park. This was clearly outlined in my intake form and repeated multiple times during the appointment. Instead of being met with guidance, Aracely opened the appointment by telling me I had "done this the wrong way" by not shopping earlier and immediately set the tone that I would have little to no options. That is not helpful, and frankly not an appropriate way to speak to a bride at the start of what should be an exciting experience. What made it worse was that she didn't listen. Despite explaining my plans several times, she continued suggesting things that were completely irrelevant to my situation like bustles, dance floors, and reception entrances. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted to understand what was actually available off the rack so I could make a decision within those constraints, and that information was never clearly provided. The most unprofessional moment was overhearing Aracely call me "difficult" to my own mother while I was in the dressing room. My mother was understandably livid and had to step in to correct her, explaining that I am easygoing and just needed someone to actually help me navigate my options. Being spoken about that way, especially within earshot and to my mother of all people, was completely inappropriate. I made the trip from NYC specifically for this location because of its larger selection, and instead of leaving excited, I left upset and discouraged. This appointment completely changed the tone of my day. The dresses themselves were beautiful, but the experience was dismissive, unhelpful, and rude. Bridal appointments should feel supportive and collaborative. This was the opposite.

It was my first day of wedding dress shopping, and as a less than "girly" girl I was pleased to try on a lot of beautiful options that didn't make me feel like a cupcake. I also did not want the pushy bridal experience common in the NYC salons and most boutiques. They had over a dozen design options in my budget, which was amazing. Not worth taking off a star, but my only lament is to the color selections; all of the dresses I loved were marketed as rehearsal dinner or reception options, and were not available in white. I ended up buying a white Maggie Sottero gown and had it customized down the road at Sukran's Bridal (sorry, BHLDN!) Overall it was a great place for a first shopping experience to discover the shapes, styles, and colors I was interested in, and take some fun pictures for my friends and family.

I am typically a huge sparkle girl, but I let Leo know I was hoping to go for more of a modern style while keeping it form fitting to wow my husband to be! I instantly fell in love with all the Ines Di Santo designs, and knew the Selene dress was the one once I tried it on and looked in the mirror. My mom, godmother & mother in law were already in tears seeing how perfect it fit me and how it was everything I had envisioned! Since she knew I loved a sparkle element, she also found me the most perfect veil full of Swarovski crystals that added the element I wanted Not only did Plumed Serpent help me find my dream dress, but once I heard they had an in house seamstress, I knew this was my place. From my first alteration appointment, I knew working with Lissa would be a dream - she had the same eye for perfection as me, and we were on the same page for everything! She made sure my dress fit me perfectly for my big day, leaving me with zero worries. She even added multiple bustle options so I had choices depending on how I felt on my wedding day! All night I kept hearing compliments on how it looked like the dress was truly made for me. Overall, I cannot say thank you enough to Leo & Lissa for making my wedding dress experience so amazing, and I will be recommending the Plumed Serpent to all my girlfriends!

I was 113 lbs when I ordered my dress and they ordered me a size 10. I wish I had gotten my dress somewhere else. This store ruined my wedding dress shopping experience.

Had I known that, I would have shipped to a FedEx location or my work! They suck, my friend is freaking out and honestly she should not have to have this stress at this point. How hard is it to put a dress in a box and ship it out? How hard is it to respond to an email in a timely fashion? This is how you get awful reviews. Bad customer service. As a curvier bride, I was definitely intimidated to start wedding dress shopping because of the sizing industry, but Denise and her team completely changed that for me. They were so welcoming, so kind, and honestly made the whole experience fun instead of stressful. When I went to try on dresses, I ended up finding my dream dress! Their selection is beautiful, thoughtfully curated, and not at all overwhelming. The boutique itself feels homey and personal, which made the experience even more special. From the very beginning, everyone I worked with went above and beyond. Cecile helped me find my dress, and Emmy guided me when I picked it up and chose my veil--they were both absolutely wonderful. Patient, kind, and genuinely excited for me, they made the process so smooth and enjoyable. I cannot recommend The Persnickety Bride enough to any bride--whether you're in Fairfield, New Haven, Putnam County, or even farther away, this is worth the trip.
