I'm not one to leave reviews but felt the need to after such a positive experience. Because of covid I was in a really tight spot with a short amount of time. I had a bridesmaids dress that not only needed to be taken out but have fabric added. Other places told me it couldn't be done and wouldn't even attempt it. I also needed it done in less than a months time. This place not only welcomed me happily but reassured me they can get it done. They did an amazing job in the time frame and the cost was way better than I imagined. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend. read more

I am very disappointed with my last visit at Giuliana's boutique. I have gotten alterations from here several times and I am a loyal customer. The other day I went in to have a skirt hemmed and was told it would cost $25. I payed that day. I had it pinned and went to pick it up a week later. When I picked it up the tailor told me if I needed to have it taken up some more after trying it on it would cost $0. I tried it on at home and it was not the length I had wanted so I went back to take it up a little bit more. After getting pinned the second time around yesterday she AGAIN said it would be no extra charge when I asked her how much I owed her and went to pay. So I said ok and she said I can pick it up the next day. I went to pick it up today (the next day) and she told me it would be $45! Not only was that very odd to me because even after trying to pay at my last visit she told me it was NO COST because it was not the hem I had wanted, but also because now she was asking me to pay $45 when I payed $25 for the first hem... At that point I asked what was going on and she gave me zero explanation as to why it was no charge yesterday and now today cost twice as much this time around. VERY DISSAPOINTED. At that point I had no idea what to do except pay the $45 and be completely dumfounded. I feel completely disrespected after having so many alterations in the past done by her. read more

Found a prom dress here. Was convinced to try something out of comfort zone that worked well. The selection is limited. Needed some tailoring. Went back when scheduled and it was not ready. Very disappointing. Since it was a long drive asked them to mail, they did. Still not perfect fit but ok. Worth stopping in if you have exhausted some bigger places. read more

My sister and I came here to get our bridesmaids dresses altered for our sisters wedding. We heard good things about her services from previous brides and the prices were fair for the area. We spent months going in to her shop because each time she made an alteration there was an issue and not what we originally asked for. Each time we went in to get something else tweaked the owner was not cooperative or accommodating. She acted like it was our fault the dress wasn't to our liking and wouldn't listen to us when we told her what to fix. All in all, the dresses turned out fine after months of frustration, however the customer service here was terrible on what should have been a very pleasant experience for the bridal party. She needs to learn how to better communicate with her clients because she didn't show any appreciation for her business or our business which was a big turnoff. read more

Miracle workers! They took my mother's totally 80's puff sleeve wedding dress and turned it into a beautiful vintage cap sleeve vision. Today was my first time coming to Giuliana's and it was hands down THE BEST customer service I've ever received in my life! I was on a search for a prom dress and quickly found the perfect one with the help of the ladies there. They were super accommodating and honest. I also loved how small and cute the boutique was! Best seamstress in Fairfield County. I'm surprised by the other reviews, quite shocked actually. Carmen has been altering dresses for me and my family for years. In February she altered my wedding dress and also made 5 gorgeous bridesmaid dresses. To this day people ask where I got the dresses from and they were custom made. Small shop but the staff there are very accommodating. They seem like more of a prom/formal event shop than a wedding shop. I went in for a veil for my wedding and they were very helpful. They showed me a few they had on hand and even offered to custom make one for me. read more

I LOVE THIS SHOP!!! The clothes are adorable, you can find cute rompers and dresses for all occasions. The staff are very friendly and often helps me assess which outfits look the best! They will also help you accessorize. My favorite thing about the shop is the alterations. Carmen did a fantastic job with my wedding dress. She was able to completely alter the back of the dress from corset to a zipper. Also days before my wedding she was able to take out some layers of tool. I live in Norwalk and now go to Fairfield for all alterations (so does my mom)! read more

I'm a recent lower Fairfield country transplant from Manhattan. After getting engaged, and buying my dress in the city, the saleswoman I worked with recommended I come to Carmen, at Giuliana for my dress alterations. Carmen, the shops proprietor and dress maker extraordinaire pinched, hemmed, and sewed my wedding dress into utter perfection. She took a sample I bought off the rack, and made it look as though it was made just for me. My dress was strapless, and she added the most beautiful illusion v neck top for me. It truly looks like it was always part of the dress. She was an ace when it came to making major adjustments to my gown, and just as fantastic when it came to minor alterations for my mother's dress. Not only am I thrilled with the work that was done, Carmen was wonderful to work with. I will certainly be back with other dresses in the future that require alteration. read more

I had a couple of skirts that needed to be altered and would pass by here almost every day on my way to work. I decided to try it out after going to the drycleaners who wanted to charge way too much to do the minor alterations I needed. I walked in and they had me try on my skirts and understood exactly what I needed to be done and quoted me a price. They took a little longer than expected to finish which was fine as I wasn't in a rush but I was not happy when it came time to pay. I was quoted an amount which seemed to be fair and when I went to pay I was told it would actually cost $15 more than what I was initially told. I ended up paying the extra amount because I was in a hurry that day and didn't have time to argue it but did not feel good about it afterwards. The alterations were perfect so I am tempted to go back but that whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. This happened a few months ago but I am just posting this now since someone just asked me about this place and I realized I never left a review. I may go back to them because they did such great work but I really didn't enjoy being overcharged at the last minute. read more

Ok. They do good work but aren't friendly or very helpful. For a place that alters dresses and evening wear, and makes clothes, I was surprised to see that I had to ask for assistance to put on the bridesmaid dress I was having altered there. I was surprised at the large amount I was charged. When I asked for a breakdown of the prices for the different alterations that had been done to the dress, the woman at the register with me could not answer the question, nor could the woman in the back doing alterations when she was asked. Also, it's worth noting that for alterations they only take cash. Huge inconvenience. Probably won't go back. read more

DO NOT get your items altered here. I bought a $300 dress at the boutique for my sister's wedding and trusted them to alter it. I asked to speak to the seamstress 3 times and was denied. I had to tell the shop attendant what I wanted in hopes she would relay it properly. No one pinned or marked the hem of the dress or pinned the cups into the boob area. When I picked up my dress 2 weeks later, it was a horrid mess. The hem was grossly uneven. The fabric was cut sloppy and the stitching was wavey. It looked awful. I could have done a better job. The boob cups were just hand tacked into the dress so when I bent over, you saw white. They were also not in the correct spot. The sparkles I wanted sewn into the mesh were cheap sequins. The attendant said I bought the entire belt for $45 and they would harvest the rhinestones from that. This was the only reason why I purchased the belt. I was told this was not the case and I do no own the belt or the extra rhinestones. When I spoke to the owner of the store she argued and argued with me. She told me that alterations never go right the first time and to let her try again. Bullshit, perfect work should be done the first time. There was no way I was trusting her again. Both the shop attendant and the owner are liars and rude. I took the dress to my amazing seamstress in Danbury, where I should have taken it to begin with. The back hem was 3" shorter than the front hem. To fix the dress, it now has to be shorter than what I wanted. I wanted tea length, and now it will be an awkward upper mid calf length. I am sick to my stomach. My $300 dress is now ruined. I cannot express how unhappy I am. The wedding is in 4 days and I have to not only go out of my way to get it fixed, but pay double for a rush alteration. This place is a joke. read more

I'm so impressed with the service I received from Giuliana's. I bought my wedding dress online (big risk) and needed serious alterations done to it to fit my body. The dress was so delicate, with handmade beadwork and intricate lace. Carmen was so helpful and so professional. She managed to alter my dress exactly as I wanted and still had thought to add in some buttons and ribbon (hidden) at the back so that i wouldn't have to drag/hold my train all day. She helped me pick out a veil and a belt to complete my look and I could not have been more happy with the way everything turned out! The only reason i didn't give them five stars is because the delivery of the veil and belt took a while to reach me. I had ordered it 3 weeks before my flight to South Africa (where i had my wedding) and received it the day before I left. Other than that i was very pleased with the service i received. read more

We can't honestly give this one star. My wife and daughter used to shop there pretty frequently, my younger daughter needed two dresses hemmed and we were quoted a price which started already 2-3x the normal cost for doing this and then upon picking up the two dresses, they wanted to charge an additional 30$, so $130 to have 2 dresses hemmed. PLUS, they would only take cash. Horrible, last time that store is stepped into. read more

Offered an exchange for other tailoring services but why would I want to do that after the first problem? I had to have a bridesmaids dress altered because I'm pregnant. The wedding is at the end of September and I went in in July and was told to come back, which I appreciated (rather not guess and have to do multiple alterations). I came back at the beginning of September and there still weren't any alterations to be made so she advised I come back 10 days before the wedding. I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough time to turn the dress around but the woman was confident. I went back in on September 18 and finally it was concluded that we needed to adjust the shoulders and take out the waist. I asked the woman who pinned the dress (but was not the seamstress) how much it would cost and she said about $40. She also said someone would call me on Tuesday to confirm when I could come in to try the dress on. No one called on Tuesday so I called on Wednesday and made an appointment for Thursday. I went in today and the dress fit perfectly- there was plenty of room in the waist and the shoulders fit great. When I went to pay though, it cost $105. When I told the seamstress about what the woman had quoted for a price on Monday she told me "I don't think she told you that." She did explain why it was so expensive- $35 just for the shoulders and $70 because there were 4 layers of fabric that she had to cut and resew to take out the waist. I don't have alterations done ever but I thought it was extremely expensive- you be the judge. I also wasn't aware of the cash or check only policy - thankfully I had checks with me. Overall, I appreciate that the work was done so quickly (in 3 days). I think the dress looks great and the work was well done, it was just way more expensive than I expected and the last interaction just left a sour taste in my mouth. I did buy a cute shawl that they had in the store to go with the dress (for another $35) and I thought about not buying it when the alterations were so expensive but I was just so tired of going back and forth and I didn't want to have to find another shawl just on principle. read more

Carmen is fantastic! I've been going to see her for years. I'm rather busty, ever since I was a young girl, and so I've always needed dresses either handmade or altered. From proms to everyday occasions, I've used Carmen religiously. So when the day came to get married, I knew there was no better person to make me look picture perfect on my special day! In addition to altering my Justin Alexander dress, she made me a special dress for the reception. I'm an Irish step dancer and I wanted to put on a performance for my husband and our guests...a white Irish dance dress was just the thing! I got so many compliments for both dresses. She also helped my mom design her dress for the wedding and made it from scratch. In addition, she altered all of the dresses for my local bridesmaids and my mother in law's dress for my wedding and my sister in law's wedding. I needed a little something for the bachelorette and the rehearsal dinner. Carmen's endless supply of adorable dresses were just what i needed, and Carmen was right there when I needed a stitch or two let out or brought in. Whenever I need something special in my closet, or have an important event to attend, she's there to make all my fashion dreams come true!
