I must say the customer service I received was by far the best I've experienced! I was in search of a top that had been sold out near me(Orlando Florida) so I did a random search. Winged monkey actually had it. Not knowing exactly what size I should order, I called. Madison was absolutely unbelievable! Not only was she informative but actually offered to try it on and send me a picture so I could see the fit. Absolutely exceptional service from her and Jenny! They assured me that if the size wasn't right, they would take care of me. They even promptly mailed it out so I would have it for my upcoming vacation. Hands down the best customer service. I wonder if the reviews of this terrible owner spoken of is the reason this shop moved out of Wilton center. probably. I didn't encounter the owner, or anyone for that matter really. walked in to browse, and encountered absolutely no one. wasn't greeted, and when I asked for help with an item no one had a clue. a different women, young but older than the other associate did help but seemed to come running out of nowhere. What a great find! I almost did not go based on some of the reviews but took a chance anyway. I was prepared to be ignored but that was definitely not the case! Everyone was super helpful and they had such a great selection. Prices ranged from reasonable to $$$ but I was able to find two great dresses both under $100 for my very picky teen. This is my go to store! I am always greeted immediately upon entering Winged Monkey and depending on if I want/need help there is always someone ready to recommend something or start to pull things they think I will like. This is the store I can always find my favorite jeans, a pair of boots, or a one of a kind necklace. I know if I need a last minute outfit to go out, or a dress, they will not disappoint! Their stock is always growing and changing, so I know I will always find something I love. I'm sure most of these reviews are fake and here's why... In January, my daughter and I went to the Winged Monkey to pick out her prom dress. There was a particular dress my daughter wanted that she saw on their web page. Quite a few girls had purchased dresses already, so we decided to check it out before anyone else bought it. The dress was a hit and spent over $500 on this Sherri Hill dress. The woman, who we believe was the owner, assured us that the dress would be put on the prom dress list so it wouldn't be duplicated. She took down the information and once again, assured me it would be entered onto the list. Well, guess what, they lied! It was duplicated in Feb and again in March, just a few days ago to be exact. I called to let them know and to ask why they kept duplicating the dress (the store was mentioned and could tell by the photo) and Mr. Nasty was rude and yelled at me! Mr. Nasty then explained that the Winged Monkey hasn't put dresses on the list in 3 years! Really? Why say you do, if you don't? He didn't apologize once, just blamed it on the girls that ignored the prom picture posting site. Ya think they always notice the dress right away? At least give them a heads up before blaming them for your blatant disregard. The right thing would have been to notify them of the duplication and then try to steer them toward another dress. Having 2 daughters, I've bought many a prom dress over the years and everyone else puts it on the list. Mr. Nasty actually had the gall to say "if they don't buy it from me they'll just go someplace else" and "you can bring the dress back and exchange it for another one"! Really? Empathy is a great thing to have but it's obvious you have none. They need to brush up and take some customer service classes. As always, it's all about the money/sale. One of girls did apologized after she realized but it's too late. 1. You don't want to cause drama and 2. Winged Monkey doesn't accept returns. So listen girls, if you ever find a duplicated dress at your prom, know it had to be bought at the Winged Monkey, because they could care less. My advice, think twice next time you consider buying a dress from there. Remember their dresses are not exclusive. Take Mr. Nasty's own advice and buy it someplace else!!! NEVER again! read more

Today, July 17th, I arrived at winged monkey at 6:15 to find the doors locked when they are open at 7:00. Called the store, girl answered and was annoyed that she had to come unlock the door for me. We entered the store and were complete ignored by the staff not even a hello or welcome. They were mad that we were in the store at 6:15 when they close at 7. This is not the first time that the staff in there are very rude and disrespectful. It is the last time cause I will never go back to the store again. Everything is a mess. I wish I was writing this review to tell you what a wonderful experience you will have at Winged Monkey. The dresses are nice enough, relatively good selection and pricing in line with what you would find in Fairfield County. The problem is the two women who manage (possibly own?) the store. I simply do not understand why they feel the need to condescend to the people who shop at their store, to embarrass and humiliate the girls who are looking for dresses by telling them loudly they need to get a few sizes bigger, or that something will not look good on them BEFORE they even try it on. My favorite example was having her take a dress out of my daughters hand, while she was still standing at the rack and saying "this is a bad style for you, you can't wear a dress that tight". All I can say is WOW. News flash ladies, girls shop at your store for special events in their lives, they do not need you saying negative things to damage their self esteem. You should try reading your reviews, knowing that at least a couple of your of positive reviews as I found out by talking to one of your non-management sales associates, were written by friends & family of the store. On the upside, if you find a sales associate who is not part of the management team (hint: look for the younger sales staff), then you will have a pleasant and rewarding experience. Lastly - you need to do something about your fitting room. You don't have enough chairs or fitting rooms for busy weekends. read more

As the Mother of the Groom, I searched long and hard for a gown. When I finally thought I'd found a gown that I wanted to wear, I called the Winged Monkey to see if they had the gown at their store. They did! Upon my arrival, I was given the dress to try on; the dress that I "thought" I'd wear to my son's 9/28/18 wedding. I thought it was a beautiful gown and so did the owner of the shop, however, she suggested that I try on some other options. I am forever THANKFUL to her for the suggestion as I purchased the dress she recommended and I couldn't have been happier! I can't begin to tell the Yelp Community how many people complimented by dress. For days, I heard "stunning dress, fabulous dress, the best dress ever". I can't say enough good things -- the store was absolutely packed (an hour wait for the dressing rooms), but Nancy noticed my daughter with special needs and reached out to help us.... found us a bunch of great options (and my daughter is extremely hard to fit), and stayed with us until we found what we were looking for. She even helped us scour the sale rack looking for bargains. I had assumed that multiple trips would be required, but in one visit we got a great prom gown at a very good price (on sale) -- plus shoes! read more

Forget that it is an overpriced, cheap clothing, mis-mosh of crap. I am sick and tired of being treated like crap for being over a size zero. I understand this is Westport and this dump feels the need to kiss the behind of the skinny women, however, asking for a dress in over a size 10 is no crime. If you have a daughter over 110 pounds, don't let her in this place or she will be in therapy for the next few years. They ignore bigger girls and won't be bothered ordering in a larger size. Regardless if they have nice clothes (and that is debatable), they discriminate against customers that are not a size 0. Any discrimination is intolerable and should be exposed. I have never once had a good experience at winged monkey. I have been multiple times for just normal clothes and the dresses. The employees are lazy, can't be found when you need help, and don't offer to help you. My sorority has specific colors of dresses we needed to buy and I couldn't find an employee to help point me in the right direction and once I did (20 minutes later playing on some computer), and I had a pile of dresses to try on they didn't even offer me a fitting room. While I was there, a lady was looking for help to find dresses appropriate for her eighth grade daughter to wear to a middle school dance. She ended up leaving before me empty handed like me, since she couldn't seem to find the correct section. As someone who works in retail, I can tell you that this is a place that needs new employees or to have them retrained. Although they may have some good products in the dress department I would much rather take my time and business to a business where they care about their customers. read more

Winged Monkey. Horrible owner!! I had heard this about her. It's true. I used to shop here all the time, for myself and my 9 year old daughter. Always on my radar. Nice clothes, nice and helpful staff. However, I think I have discovered the rudest owner of a small business in this area! I like to support local and small businesses. On my recent trip to the store and my last, I purchased shoes for a my daughter and something for myself. I knew I was taking a chance on the shoe fitting my daughter (it was a sale item), but exactly what she was looking for to go with a special dress (purchased elsewhere) for a special occasion. They ended up to be too wide. Yes, sale items are not returnable, however exceptions can be made. I wanted to exchange the shoes for a pair that did fit my daughter and that cost more! I was told cant't do it. And fine, so now I have a pair of shoes that my daughter can never wear. I understand store policy. My problem with the store is in the way I was treated. The owner was rude, unsympathetic and condescending. What incentive do I have to go back. When I expressed this to the owner she didn't seem to care. She turned away from me to help someone who was buying something. If I were the owner of a small business, I would do my best to hang on to every customer I had. Regardless of how much a person spends. I worked in retail. She should watch how she treats customers. I took my business to Wishlist! They deserved the $$$$ I spent. read more

Honestly even though some of the clothing is nice (and really it's all over the place - high end to crap, no real vision in assortment) the killer is the awful feeling I get listening to the owner berate the staff - and sometimes the customers when she isn't happy with their behavior (like when they don't want to buy something she feels they should). Honestly, I don't understand why some people go into fields where they have to relate to others if they hate doing it. Manager did end up reaching out and is issuing a refund which is the best I can ask for besides having my package magically appear in my mailbox with my sweatshirt inside. Issue really isn't with Winged Monkey, first review was out of pure frustration of so much time wasted trying to trace get any sort of help from Fed Ex or USPS. it's FedEx Smart Post which is a shady postal system that puts you at the mercy of USPS which is totally useless when it comes to tracing packages that were never delivered. read more

Awful just plain awful!! Owner was snotty and unfriendly. I brought my daughter here to look for a communion dress. I was appalled by how we were treated. Maybe because we weren't part of the "elite" Westport crowd or maybe it was because my daughter requires a dress size larger than a size 6. Whatever the reason, I would never step foot in that horrid store again. The owner telling my daughter to hold a dress up to her and make a decision as to what dress she wants that way. I have been shopping at the Winged Monkey since it opened. I truly have never seen a boutique owner more vested in her customer and merchandise. She is always there and available and her sense of design is outstanding. Personally I think it's important to be told the truth about how something looks or maybe to try a style that you may not think at first will work. Winged Monkey has been in business for at least 15 years which is pretty tough to beat for a local boutique....obviously she is doing a fantastic job. The merchandise is high end and never marked up. A truly honest business she runs. And her staff , they are wonderful too , running back and forth to find new items or switch sizes. Nobody is ever lazy or disinterested. I have purchased countless clothing for myself and my daughter, including her fri night Bat Mitzvah Dress. Winged Monkey is treasure chest and it's the business owner that makes it happen read more

After visiting this boutique, hopeful for their participation in a local fundraising fashion show to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America...I left rather dumbfounded at the callous response of a manager (or associate?). I was unsure of which employee I spoke to because she was extremely unprofessional, rather immature, and unwelcoming. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a clothing store, a statement any worthwhile business would work to amend. Yet, this woman's remarks were insulting and hurtful regarding volunteer models and their sizing needs in the past. She was bold enough to even deem a specific university as having mostly "overweight girls." I was unaware that size 4 is "overweight" ma'am. Now I would have understood if this boutique only caters to size 0 & 2, however, the extra comments were completely uncalled for. You are adding to the self-image, weight obsession, eating disorder epidemic in our country. Not the best look for Westport. And anyone who shops there seems to support such outlandish notions. I was assigned to this store for a fashion show in my high school. Once I walked in I was excited to try on the clothes this store offered to model. But after 10 minuets, my opinion changed completely. After looking around at the clothing, I noticed there wasn't any clothes for curvier figures. Everyone knows the stereotype for Latinas, curvy and busty. Exactly how I am. But the employees and the owner tried to humiliate me in front of my friends, customers, and a volunteer mom of a fellow classmate who accompanied us that day. When I was asked for my size, the first thing the employees did was mention how small their sizes were instead of helping me with their clothing. The owner should also be mindful about who's around her when she's speaking. Once her employees asked me to try on jeans I had said before wouldn't fit, I came out with an ill fitting outfit. The minute she walked away, she went and ran to her employees to yell at them "don't f**k**g give her 200 dollar jeans, she stretched them out what am I going to do with them?" I'm sorry your employees gave me jeans I had said won't fit me. Next, she was talking to me about wearing better bras because the ones I was wearing weren't right, that I should go to Walmart and buy some bras. I will say it may have been my fault for wearing a bralette, but she had no right to yell this to me in front of everyone in the store. This woman, the owner and employees WILL humiliate you if you aren't a size 2 or smaller. I regret not saying this to her face, but you have to learn how to respect everyone.
