I love Gap. Love their style and quality of clothing. This has nothing to do with their store in general or the people that work there. I went shopping yesterday with a friend of mine and it was still 50% off because of Black Friday so we bought a few things. At check out they gave me a paper bag with handles and my friend one of their red plastic bag. As we were walking down the street, we thought my friend was having some kind of horrible reaction. We looked down and her hands were splotched bright red. We couldn't figure it out until we looked at the bag and the dye had come off and all over her hands and jacket. We still haven't been able to get it out of the jacket, I would suggest making better quality bags because it pretty much ruined a good jacket. If anyone is reading this who shops at GAP, ask for a non red bag! read more

If I could give fewer stars I would. Sent my teenage son in to purchase a pair of jeans and unfortunately he didn't have my Gap card with him, so I asked him to talk to the cashier and I would call in our Gap #, but they wouldn't do that and so we ended up losing discounts. Of course none of this makes sense to me because if I were in search of an item and the Westport store was the only location that had that item I would be able to call it in and have them hold the item or mail it to me and use my credit card over the phone. Even after I called and spoke to the manager... And explained the situation and my thoughts in detail... I was met with a, "I'm sorry, but we can't do that". Just had a horrific experiene here. I went to return several baby items (about $125 worth) that was a gift from a family member and the wrong size. The sales associate who walked up to the register to help me didn't even say "hi" after I said hello to her, whatever, and then after she pulled out a gift card to put store credit for my return she suddenly says she accidentally put it all back on the original PAYMENT!!!?? ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! She said it was irreversible and nothing she could do. Sorry. Wow, thanks, now all of my babies Christmas clothes are back at The Gap and we left with nothing AND that family member will soon know I was returning everything! To make it worse that associate says this happens all the time with online orders. BEWARE IF YOURE RETURNING CHRISTMAS GIFTS. YOU MIGHT WALK OUT WITH NOTHING! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. (i) Rudest staff, least helpful staff, poor knowledge of the products. Bar none. (ii) Constant re-arrangement and messy layout of the store. Every.single.time I'm there there I see ladders out, stacks of things, boxes, etc. Poorly timed stocking, IMO. (iii) Awful Gap Baby section, and I am a HUGE Baby shopper. Seems to stock over supply of the tiny sizes and not enough stock of the larger (2T, 12-18 month, 18-24 month). This Gap location is so unimpressive and my interactions with the staff have been so shockingly disappointing that I've considered making a corporate complaint. I am from Westport and shop here ALL the time. Really disappointing to see that your bathroom isn't "fixed" after a year. Basically you don't want to fix it. Thanks for the inconvenience! Allowing a customer to be "comfortable" when they shop, especially when they have kids ( who also need to use the bathroom btw) would allow them to stay in the store for a longer period of time and probably spend more money. Once I had to leave because I needed to use the bathroom- guess what? I never came back that day! Good luck with that! You'll be the next store in town that closes! read more

I would give this store a zero if I could. It is no wonder that retail stores are going under for the third time and no one in their right mind wants to enter a store. I was in the store on Wednesday late morning. The store was almost empty. I looked through merchandise with my daughter and asked a couple of questions to the bored staff about price and a coupon that was coming due. The manager on the first floor was nasty, made several inappropriate comments, and couldn't be bothered. A comment such as, "I work here and didn't receive that coupons, why do you think you are more important than me?", drove me right out of there. Never again. If I have to drive 20 miles out of my way to visit another GAP, or better yet, not go to the GAP, is even better. With all the options today, the closing of most of their stores, and the fact they are always hawking 40 percent off, should give a clue to the clueless manager to go back to 101 basic retail. read more
