I had a terrible experience here. My dress was ordered 3 sizes too big and didn't look as pictured. I ended up spending so much money on alterations to make it fit me and look like it was supposed to. The owner was not helpful at all, instead she made me feel so uncomfortable when she told me that I must have lost "so much" weight and it was my fault the dress was too big on me. I was 113 lbs when I ordered my dress and they ordered me a size 10. I wish I had gotten my dress somewhere else. This store ruined my wedding dress shopping experience. read more

We had an amazing experience at The Plumed Serpent. First- the store is absolutely beautiful. The lighting is very warm, welcoming and very flattering. All the staff was very polite and kind to us. It is extremely difficult to find MOB dresses, we searched high and low and came across this store. I had already gotten my wedding dress, but it I hadn't, I would have definitely gone here. Before my appointment started I was feeling a little apprehensive and not very excited because I had a less than stellar experience at my first bridal appointment at a different shop in Soho. However, my mind was immediately put at ease when my appointment started at the Plumed Serpent. Everyone was so friendly when my mom, my sister and I came in. We were shown to the dressing area and offered water (which they brought out in champagne flutes - so cute). Next to the couch there was a sign saying Reserved for Katie, which I thought was such a nice touch! The whole shop is bright, beautiful and clean. Krissy really made my whole appointment not only easy, but truly enjoyable. As I mentioned, I wasn't really looking forward to my appointment after my experience at a different shop, but Krissy completely turned my mood around. She made me feel comfortable and beautiful! She was cheerful, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. I really cannot speak highly enough of Krissy! At the beginning of my appointment, Krissy looked through my Pinterest board with me and asked about my budget. I appreciated that she was so respectful of my budget; she only pulled dresses that were within my price range. Krissy really understood what I was looking for just from the pictures I showed her. As I tried on each dress, she took my feedback and applied it in the next dress she'd show me. I was really impressed by her! Not only is the customer service first rate, but their knowledge of all the bridal lines and what styles look good on certain body styles is pure magic. We went everywhere in connecticut and some shops in NYC and could not find the right gown. After trying on 3 dresses, they brought me dresses that fit and looked perfect on me to the point I almost couldn't choose. While their pricing may be a bit higher than most, it's worth it. I have never wrote a review before (which should say something), but felt this was necessary as my first experience wedding dress shopping was horrible, truly was the worst experience ever. I worked with Alison, who I am shocked is the owner because her behavior was disgusting. She was beyond condescending with almost everything that came out of her mouth. She made me feel so unwelcomed and stupid. I would ask questions and she would reply in eitheir a nasty, short, snippy response, and/or laugh at me then respond rudely acting as if I was an idiot for asking that question. I couldn't believe it. I was so upset, and at the end of my appointment I ended up crying. I also felt once I said my budget she wanted nothing to do with us. As if we weren't good enough for her and below her standards of clientele. To top it off, the way she spoke to her employee, who was fairly new and in-training was disgusting. She snapped at her so badly for making one small comment, which wasn't even bad. I can only imagine how she speaks to her employees in private if that's how she spoke in front of customers. Terrible customer service. My fiancé originally agreed to get her dress altered here but after some complications with COVID we had to move the date. Originally they told her no problem no alterations had even been started and she could have her money and the dress back. Two days before she's supposed to pick up the dress they call back and say Actually alterations were done you owe us half of the money.. what! How can you say you'll get a full refund then change your mind. It sounds like this company just wants to keep as much money as possible with as little work as possible. This is the ultimate bridal shopping experience. Service is impeccable and the dresses are insanely gorgeous. The Plumed Serpent was the first stop on my whirlwind bridal gown tour, and set the standard for the kind of dress I wanted (and eventually bought in NYC). I understand that many brides don't have a tight budget, or want to spend the extra thousand bucks (or two or three or four...) for a designer name. In that case, you can't go wrong here. Out of the many, many dresses I tried on (probably a dozen), none were below $2,700. Again, not a problem for some people, but I'm more in favor of getting a less expensive dress and putting that money towards the band or flowers or something. My heart was stolen by a Monique Lhuillier beauty, but they also have gorgeous gowns by Anne Barge, Lee Ann Belter, Rivini...etc. Again, great selection and great customer service make this place worth a visit. read more

I visited 5 bridal salons in NYC and was a bit discouraged. I felt rushed in each store. The dresses were dirty, torn and the salons were overly packed with people. I then heard of The Plumed Serpent from a friend of mine and figured I would give it a try. I made an appointment right away and they were very pleasant on the phone. It was the complete opposite experience than all of the other salons i visited. Once i arrived to the salon, i was greeted by Alison who was very upbeat and professional.The salon was beautiful and clean. I showed her a few pictures of styles i i had in mind and she immediately knew which dresses to pull that would fit my style. I brought my family along, including my father, (who was probably the most opinionated) and it didn't phase Alison at all. I give her credit for that! The 2nd dress i tried on was "The One". First let me say, I'm shocked that there are negative reviews on here. I bought my wedding dress at Plumed Serpent after having several friends recommend the shop and I loved it. To be fair, I've done the big, NYC wedding dress shopping with friends at Kleinfeld's and Mark Ingram and that's not what I wanted. I didn't want to go to a wedding dress factory or feel like I was being pressured into buying something I couldn't afford. That being said, I also wanted to feel like buying a dress was fun and special. I definitely got that experience at Plumed Serpent. From the first appointment where I picked-out my dress, Allison was amazing. She helped me figure out what I wanted but also had me try on a few dresses I wouldn't have considered because I didn't know what would look best one me (who knew I'd like a full A skirt??). I also really respect that once I told Allison my budget, she was VERY careful to keep me there and didn't show me anything that went above that. I can't say that for any of the other bridal salons I've gone to. I also had all of my fittings done at Plumed Serpent and found their staff to be so friendly and warm. I should have written this sooner but knew that my daughter in law Jamie prob wants to forget about the awful experience. They are about to re open so now is the time to write. the one star is for the lovely dress which my daughter in law saw online so no one helped her pick it out. The gal who helped with dresses was very good. I had heard that the management was snooty but the place is in town and nice inside. They do not give you any champagne to start (all the other bridal stores do) ONLY IF YOU BUY A DRESS which i find stingy. After we paid in full for the dress I asked that they keep it there until they were ready to alter it a few months b4 the wedding and they said they had no room to store dresses. However, a few days later they said i could store it there for a fee. So i guess they did have room after all???? The fabric after we bought the dress which was lovely, seemed to make my daughter in laws arm all red. The seamstress who i liked at first said she would change the thread on the edge of the sleeve. I told her i didn't feel changing the thread would help. and suggested nicely that she just add a square pad under the fabric on the shoulders to sort of lift the dress away from my daughters shoulder and arm so it wouldn't rub against her. She said ok. She asked for full payment after she pinned the dress. I asked if i could give half up front (i have never paid in full for work not done yet!) She called my daughter in law a few days later to say she did not want to alter the dress-- she said i was never going to be satisfied with her alterations. She also said that by my asking to pay just 1/2 up front, that it made her think that i wasn't going to pay the rest !!!! My daughter in law cried for days. It was utterly disgusting. I took the dress to a fabulous shop in Norwalk called Sukran highly recommend it. She only asked for 1/2 of the $ up front and i told her the story and she said it was a great suggestion i had to add a square /pillow under the fabric on the shoulder to lift it off the arm and that is what she did. She did not feel changing the edge of thread would help at all. She also said the customer is always right and the seamstress at Plumed was out of line calling my daughter directly !! She also said the woman should have called me or the manager should have called me not called the bride. She said i was a pleasure to work with. i highly recommend Sukran Bridal. She is fantastic, friendly and takes suggestions from her customers as it is their event after all . BTW, if this story is repeated to my family by Plumed Serpent , I will not be pleased. read more

I went to the store in November to try on wedding dresses with my mom and brother, and it was an excellent experience! I came in not really having a vision of what I wanted, and Krissy made everything easy. She took what I was thinking into consideration, pulled great dresses and was overall really helpful. I ended up leaving with a dress, which I never thought was going to happen! Krissy was not pushy and let me take my time when saying "yes to the dress." The overall experience was seamless -- they took our appointment on time, adhered to COVID-19 rules and we got our own little area. Our appointment was 90 minutes, but when we stayed for longer, they didn't rush us out or make us feel pressure to leave. I'm so confused by these excellent reviews. I walked in here on a Saturday afternoon with some of my bridesmaids to take a peek at some dresses and not a single employee greeted any of us for the entire half hour we poked around. As we looked through the dresses on the rack I kept finding dresses with sweat stains on the armpits, concealer spots on them and wrinkles. Do they sell consignment dresses as well? If so, why are they $2600?? If someone had bothered to talk to us I would have considered scheduling a date to come try on dresses (maybe I missed some hidden gems?) but we all walked out without so much as a "have a nice day!" from anyone working there. read more

Say YES to their dress! let me start by saying that I had been to Klienfelds, Bergdorfs, Saks, Priscilla of Boston, a boutique in Mount Kisco, and Wedding Altelier and only found a few SO SO dresses i loved. everything was so "from the books" and lacked any design aesthetics! so cookie cutter. The moment i stepped into Plumed Serpent i was greeted by Lisa, who FYI is the BEST! What a classy gal with GREAT quality taste. The day started with tour of the showroom, description of the designers, and what each section was. We picked a collection of 5 and went from there. Unlike the other places that had a PLETHORA of dresses to appease a million types of girls from trashy and tacky to pretty and delicate, Plumed Serpent had one of the most comprehensive collections. They all were high end with amazing design quality, tailoring, and runway worthy pieces. Materials were yummy and the architecture of the dresses clearly said DESIGNER! Unlike every other place, your appointment wasnt rushed and Lisa has such a wonderful eye for adding small details like earrings, veils, and broches to class up any look! Let me begin by saying there are not many choices for bridal shops in the Connecticut area. I unfortunately was not as impressed as some of these brides. I went for my first experience picking out a wedding dress. I couldn't have had more pushy service. I found the dress of my dreams instantly, but was told I had to purchase right away because Bridal Market was coming up and if I didn't buy, the price would dramatically go up. Well, needless to say, I left without my dream dress. I was fortunate enough to go to Kleinfelds, who had the exact dress for $1500 cheaper. I was astonished. Not only did I get to meet the designer of my dress, but paid a lot less and walked away confident that I made the right decision. Now, this previous experience was not the reason I wanted to post, but after having a conversation with Leslie today, I had to. I called eagerly to make an appointment for a Debra Moreland Paris trunk show this weekend. I asked if I could make an appointment and was immediately asked if I had purchased my gown there. I said, "No." Leslie responded by telling me that I could not purchase jewelry from the store without being a "Plumed Serpent Bride". Really?!?!? The Plumed Serpent doesn't want customers??? Lissa, Krissy, and Allison made my wedding dress dreams come true. Shopping for any clothing has often been a challenging and upsetting experience for me. From the moment I walked into the beautiful Plumed Serpent bridal shop I felt welcomed, respected, and celebrated. I cannot thank you all enough for that. What had been an experience I had sadly somewhat been dreading, instantly turned into what every girl dreams of when imagining wedding dress shopping without a negative thought at all to my size. The dresses are all gorgeous and Krissy was wonderful in helping me find exactly what I was looking for. Then when the world was spinning out of control due to the pandemic, Allison was so very supportive during what I know was an incredibly difficult time for her and the entire staff as well. When pandemic restrictions were lifted and I was finally able to have my dress fittings, Lissa worked magic in getting the alterations just right. Last weekend I went to Plumed Serpent with my mom, future mother-in-law and maid of honor. This was the first store I went to to start my search and I couldn't be happier with my experience there. Not only did I find the dress of my dreams but the staff was fabulous! Amy was a gem... I was all over the place with styles I liked and she was able to narrow down my selection to help me find the perfect dress. They know what they are doing, treat you great and there was no pressure. I left the store to keep looking and later that day I went back to buy the dress. Amy had left for the day but the staff told her I had come back and bought the dress. Alison (the store owner) and all the girls who work there are so friendly and accommodating, and make the shopping experience stress-free and fun. Here is one example of how awesome they are: My dress originally arrived about 2 months before my wedding, and after the first fitting my mom and I noticed that the designer had made some structural errors with the hem and bodice. Not only did Alison quickly alleviate any concerns we had, but she actually ended up paying the designer to remake the dress for me. When the dress came in, she accommodated my busy schedule by allowing me to come in for alterations later in the evening, as I was driving down to CT from Rhode Island. She promised everything would be perfect and she delivered! Cathy, the seamstress, is also extremely talented and made sure that my dress fit absolutely beautifully on my wedding day. Her customer service is extraordinary; she calmly listened and addressed every question and concern I had, and didn't make me feel awkward or silly when I asked her to alter seemingly minor parts of the dress. She did a wonderful job. Yes, it is expensive to have your dress altered here but you get what you pay for and I would do it again in a heartbeat. My best friend is getting married next year and found the most beautiful wedding dress here! We all had so much fun and the atmosphere at this store is incredible. It was intimate and all about our bride- I recommend going on a Friday because they were much less busy than Saturday and we had the back of the store to ourselves. Krissy helped us so much with her vision of how she wanted to look on her wedding day, and brought out so many gorgeous options. At one point it was hard to choose because our bride loved a couple options from the designer, but Krissy was hands on and helped point out a lot of details we weren't aware of.
