The Plumed Serpent went above and beyond all my wedding dress shopping expectations from day one! I gave Leo my vision during our first visit, and she immediately pulled dresses that were exactly what I was looking for! I am typically a huge sparkle girl, but I let Leo know I was hoping to go for more of a modern style while keeping it form fitting to wow my husband to be! I instantly fell in love with all the Ines Di Santo designs, and knew the Selene dress was the one once I tried it on and looked in the mirror. My mom, godmother & mother in law were already in tears seeing how perfect it fit me and how it was everything I had envisioned! Since she knew I loved a sparkle element, she also found me the most perfect veil full of Swarovski crystals that added the element I wanted Not only did Plumed Serpent help me find my dream dress, but once I heard they had an in house seamstress, I knew this was my place. From my first alteration appointment, I knew working with Lissa would be a dream - she had the same eye for perfection as me, and we were on the same page for everything! She made sure my dress fit me perfectly for my big day, leaving me with zero worries. She even added multiple bustle options so I had choices depending on how I felt on my wedding day! All night I kept hearing compliments on how it looked like the dress was truly made for me. Overall, I cannot say thank you enough to Leo & Lissa for making my wedding dress experience so amazing, and I will be recommending the Plumed Serpent to all my girlfriends! read more

I had a terrible experience here. My dress was ordered 3 sizes too big and didn't look as pictured. I ended up spending so much money on alterations to make it fit me and look like it was supposed to. The owner was not helpful at all, instead she made me feel so uncomfortable when she told me that I must have lost "so much" weight and it was my fault the dress was too big on me. I was 113 lbs when I ordered my dress and they ordered me a size 10. I wish I had gotten my dress somewhere else. This store ruined my wedding dress shopping experience. read more

Before my appointment started I was feeling a little apprehensive and not very excited because I had a less than stellar experience at my first bridal appointment at a different shop in Soho. However, my mind was immediately put at ease when my appointment started at the Plumed Serpent. Everyone was so friendly when my mom, my sister and I came in. We were shown to the dressing area and offered water (which they brought out in champagne flutes - so cute). Next to the couch there was a sign saying Reserved for Katie, which I thought was such a nice touch! The whole shop is bright, beautiful and clean. Krissy really made my whole appointment not only easy, but truly enjoyable. As I mentioned, I wasn't really looking forward to my appointment after my experience at a different shop, but Krissy completely turned my mood around. She made me feel comfortable and beautiful! She was cheerful, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. I really cannot speak highly enough of Krissy! At the beginning of my appointment, Krissy looked through my Pinterest board with me and asked about my budget. I appreciated that she was so respectful of my budget; she only pulled dresses that were within my price range. Krissy really understood what I was looking for just from the pictures I showed her. As I tried on each dress, she took my feedback and applied it in the next dress she'd show me. I was really impressed by her! At the end of my appointment I felt that I had found the dress I loved, but I wanted to sleep on it. Krissy was absolutely understanding of that and never pressured me to make a decision on the spot. I really appreciated that! The next morning I e-mailed Krissy to let her know I'd definitely found my perfect dress. She responded quickly and answered a few last questions I had. Now I can't wait to wear my dress on my wedding day! I would highly recommend The Plumed Serpent! I had a great experience thanks to Krissy! read more

We had an amazing experience at The Plumed Serpent. First- the store is absolutely beautiful. The lighting is very warm, welcoming and very flattering. All the staff was very polite and kind to us. It is extremely difficult to find MOB dresses, we searched high and low and came across this store. I had already gotten my wedding dress, but it I hadn't, I would have definitely gone here. Lindsay was our consultant and she was amazing!!!!! So helpful, knowledgeable and made my mom feel beautiful with every dress she tried on. She was not pushy at all, did not rush her. Needless to say, my mom found her dress. I highly recommend this bridal salon, from the moment you enter, to the moment you leave, you just feel good about your entire experience. read more

Let me start by saying this: BETSY is your girl! She was so personable, helpful, and genuine. She made me feel very comfortable, took the time to understand my vision, and was able to adapt to my needs throughout the experience. This was my first dress shopping experience, and it was so wonderful that I ended up saying yes to the dress! Thank you, Betsy & Plumed Serpent, for making this so fun! Note re: COVID-19 dressing shopping: the salon was set up to maintain social distancing and everything was completely comfortable. I wore my mask most of the time and was able to take it off with everyone a safe distance away to really get a full picture of how the dress looked. read more

Everything here was 5 stars from beginning to end! That being said, I felt that this was by far the best costumer service I experienced compared to all the 5 stores I visited. I was helped by Allison who was amazing, had an eye for finding the dresses that fit my body perfectly while still making my friends and family feel special (they picked dresses too) Unfortunately I end up buying my dress at another store. I fell in love with a pnina dress. Every time someone helped me with a gown I thought omg this is not even close to the "expertise" help that you get here! I think any bride looking should come here, everyone was wonderful and accommodating to my family and I. You won't regret it! read more

I had a great time dress shopping here. I had to wait a bit (15-20 min) while the consultant was finishing up the previous appointment, but after that, everyone was so gracious and kind. Krissy, my consultant, was very interested in getting to know my style and my wedding plans, letting me try on the dresses and accessories that I wanted, and really caught on quickly to what I cared about! I asked a bunch of questions and tried on my final choices a couple of times, and they didnt make me feel bad about anything. I decided to buy my dress with them and am really looking forward to going back and picking up my dress! They're in a great location - beautiful store front with convenient access to parking! Everything about the visit was easy and non-stressful, which is very appreciated! read more

Not only is the customer service first rate, but their knowledge of all the bridal lines and what styles look good on certain body styles is pure magic. We went everywhere in connecticut and some shops in NYC and could not find the right gown. After trying on 3 dresses, they brought me dresses that fit and looked perfect on me to the point I almost couldn't choose. While their pricing may be a bit higher than most, it's worth it. I had felt defeated and frustrated finding my wedding gown, they made it simple and pleasant. Wish I went to them earlier. Thank you for a great experience! read more

First-class service, superb tailoring and professional staff define the Plumed Serpent Bridal. Having braved all the traditional manhattan bridal salons, I was relieved to find the Plumed Serpent. You won't be disappointed if you visit this shop and you won't go anywhere else afterward. I found my dream dress here and felt like a princess on my wedding day. What makes Plumed Serpent stand out is its customer service, not to even mention its exceptionally curated dress selections. I visited the shop 3 times before I committed to my dress. Not one time was I pressured to make a purchase. After some harrowing experiences in manhattan, I welcomed this level of sophistication. I have never wrote a review before (which should say something), but felt this was necessary as my first experience wedding dress shopping was horrible, truly was the worst experience ever. I worked with Alison, who I am shocked is the owner because her behavior was disgusting. She was beyond condescending with almost everything that came out of her mouth. She made me feel so unwelcomed and stupid. I would ask questions and she would reply in eitheir a nasty, short, snippy response, and/or laugh at me then respond rudely acting as if I was an idiot for asking that question. I couldn't believe it. I was so upset, and at the end of my appointment I ended up crying. I also felt once I said my budget she wanted nothing to do with us. As if we weren't good enough for her and below her standards of clientele. To top it off, the way she spoke to her employee, who was fairly new and in-training was disgusting. She snapped at her so badly for making one small comment, which wasn't even bad. I can only imagine how she speaks to her employees in private if that's how she spoke in front of customers. I would never want to work for her. Even if I found the dress of my dreams I wouldn't give them one penny. I would not recommend going here for your dress! read more

Terrible customer service. My fiancé originally agreed to get her dress altered here but after some complications with COVID we had to move the date. Originally they told her no problem no alterations had even been started and she could have her money and the dress back. Two days before she's supposed to pick up the dress they call back and say Actually alterations were done you owe us half of the money.. what! How can you say you'll get a full refund then change your mind. It sounds like this company just wants to keep as much money as possible with as little work as possible. No consideration for brides going through a difficult time. read more

I came in January 2021 to start looking at wedding dresses for my November 2021 wedding. The Plumed Serpent was my third stop after trying out two other dress shops in the area. My experience here was by far the best and I highly recommend stopping! Abby helped us and she was totally amazing, I am obsessed with her! So personable, down to earth, made me feel so comfortable and once I described my style/vibe, was able to pull quite a few dresses that were in line with what I had shared. She was so kind and helpful, really patient and truly helped me envision what I'd look like on my wedding day. It's so important to feel connected to who is helping you and have it feel like a really personalized experience and I really felt that with Abby. Most importantly I found my dress! Highly recommend, you won't be dissapointed! read more

My bestfriend and I went to the store and it was the best possible experience I could have imagined. I had the most wonderful experience getting my wedding dress from The Plumed Serpent! Krissy was my bridal consultant, and she was beyond helpful throughout the entire process - from choosing my gown to fittings to last minute touch ups. Nadja, my seamstress, did an impeccable job with a very difficult to fit bodice. Both she and Krissy assured me that my dress would be perfect, and indeed, it was! Appointments were easy to schedule, and everyone was super flexible with me when it was tough to get in. The store itself is beautiful and quiet, and everyone here really goes above and beyond to make you feel like the most special bride in the world. Highly recommended! read more

This place needs a HUGE attitude make over. They were exceptionally rude from the second we walked in the door not just to me but to the other clients in the store and to a few who walked in with inquires. I would not bring any of my business there if I were you. I do wish you guys the best. I hope you take this feedback seriously and do something about your ill mannered staff. I grew up in Westport and I would like it to have a good reputation. read more

This is the ultimate bridal shopping experience. Service is impeccable and the dresses are insanely gorgeous. The Plumed Serpent was the first stop on my whirlwind bridal gown tour, and set the standard for the kind of dress I wanted (and eventually bought in NYC). I understand that many brides don't have a tight budget, or want to spend the extra thousand bucks (or two or three or four...) for a designer name. In that case, you can't go wrong here. Out of the many, many dresses I tried on (probably a dozen), none were below $2,700. Again, not a problem for some people, but I'm more in favor of getting a less expensive dress and putting that money towards the band or flowers or something. My heart was stolen by a Monique Lhuillier beauty, but they also have gorgeous gowns by Anne Barge, Lee Ann Belter, Rivini...etc. Again, great selection and great customer service make this place worth a visit. read more

I visited 5 bridal salons in NYC and was a bit discouraged. I felt rushed in each store. The dresses were dirty, torn and the salons were overly packed with people. I then heard of The Plumed Serpent from a friend of mine and figured I would give it a try. I made an appointment right away and they were very pleasant on the phone. It was the complete opposite experience than all of the other salons i visited. Once i arrived to the salon, i was greeted by Alison who was very upbeat and professional. The salon was beautiful and clean. I showed her a few pictures of styles i i had in mind and she immediately knew which dresses to pull that would fit my style. I brought my family along, including my father, (who was probably the most opinionated) and it didn't phase Alison at all. I give her credit for that! The 2nd dress i tried on was "The One". Alison added the perfect accessories to give me an idea of the overall look and i was instantly in love. Alison was patient and so much fun to work with. She also sent a beautiful handwritten card a week or so later which was so thoughtful. I highly recommend visiting The Plumed Serpent. I cannot wait to go back and pick up my dress! Thank you, Allison!!! Kaitlyn read more

First let me say, I'm shocked that there are negative reviews on here. I bought my wedding dress at Plumed Serpent after having several friends recommend the shop and I loved it. To be fair, I've done the big, NYC wedding dress shopping with friends at Kleinfeld's and Mark Ingram and that's not what I wanted. I didn't want to go to a wedding dress factory or feel like I was being pressured into buying something I couldn't afford. That being said, I also wanted to feel like buying a dress was fun and special. I definitely got that experience at Plumed Serpent. From the first appointment where I picked-out my dress, Allison was amazing. She helped me figure out what I wanted but also had me try on a few dresses I wouldn't have considered because I didn't know what would look best one me (who knew I'd like a full A skirt??). I also really respect that once I told Allison my budget, she was VERY careful to keep me there and didn't show me anything that went above that. I can't say that for any of the other bridal salons I've gone to. I also had all of my fittings done at Plumed Serpent and found their staff to be so friendly and warm. Every time I was there, they were so accommodating and fun and made the whole experience a breeze. I'd DEFINITELY recommend the Plumed Serpent to anyone looking for a wedding dress. read more

Loved my experience! Abby is amazing, and made me feel like I was her only client. Very accommodating and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Future brides, look no further! I had the best experience at The Plumed Serpent this last Saturday. Betsy, our consultant, was nothing short of amazing... she was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and personable. She brought my vision to life and walked us through all of the details. I'm so excited I found my dream dress! This was my first time dress shopping after months of having to put off planning due to the virus, and I couldn't have imagined a better experience. The other consultants up front were also very involved and lent their expertise and suggestions which led to discovering my veil and adding custom details to compliment my dress perfectly. Definitely recommend and hope other future brides will have the opportunity to visit! read more

I should have written this sooner but knew that my daughter in law Jamie prob wants to forget about the awful experience. They are about to re open so now is the time to write. the one star is for the lovely dress which my daughter in law saw online so no one helped her pick it out. The gal who helped with dresses was very good. I had heard that the management was snooty but the place is in town and nice inside. They do not give you any champagne to start (all the other bridal stores do) ONLY IF YOU BUY A DRESS which i find stingy. After we paid in full for the dress I asked that they keep it there until they were ready to alter it a few months b4 the wedding and they said they had no room to store dresses. However, a few days later they said i could store it there for a fee. So i guess they did have room after all???? The fabric after we bought the dress which was lovely, seemed to make my daughter in laws arm all red. The seamstress who i liked at first said she would change the thread on the edge of the sleeve. I told her i didn't feel changing the thread would help. and suggested nicely that she just add a square pad under the fabric on the shoulders to sort of lift the dress away from my daughters shoulder and arm so it wouldn't rub against her. She said ok. She asked for full payment after she pinned the dress. I asked if i could give half up front (i have never paid in full for work not done yet!) She called my daughter in law a few days later to say she did not want to alter the dress-- she said i was never going to be satisfied with her alterations. She also said that by my asking to pay just 1/2 up front, that it made her think that i wasn't going to pay the rest !!!! My daughter in law cried for days. It was utterly disgusting. I took the dress to a fabulous shop in Norwalk called Sukran highly recommend it. She only asked for 1/2 of the $ up front and i told her the story and she said it was a great suggestion i had to add a square /pillow under the fabric on the shoulder to lift it off the arm and that is what she did. She did not feel changing the edge of thread would help at all. She also said the customer is always right and the seamstress at Plumed was out of line calling my daughter directly !! She also said the woman should have called me or the manager should have called me not called the bride. She said i was a pleasure to work with. i highly recommend Sukran Bridal. She is fantastic, friendly and takes suggestions from her customers as it is their event after all . BTW, if this story is repeated to my family by Plumed Serpent , I will not be pleased. read more

My entire bridal shopping experience will be a memory I'll forever treasure thanks to the wonderful staff and atmosphere of the Plumed Serpent. Firstly, they have some of the most finest and rarest collections of dresses I have ever seen. This bridal boutique offers sophisticated and couture style dresses; which most definitely appeals to the bride who wants to stand apart from the mass produced styles and bridal looks. They carry some exclusive designers that can only be found at their store; my dress made by Martina Liana is one of those rare designers that you can't find in an average wedding salon. The craftsmanship, style and exquisite detail of my dress is nothing short than magnificent. The Plumed Serpent delivered on my very first wedding dress shopping experience that far exceeded all of my expectations. Bridal consultant Krissy was tremendously helpful, thorough and knowledgeable. She has an eye for pulling dresses based on a bride's individual style and body structure. You will be amazed on how beautiful you will look and feel in nearly all of the dresses you try on because of her knack for selection. I purchased one of the first dresses I tried on; she made the process so seamless, non-pressuring and very pleasurable. Once the dress arrived I had the amazing experience of working with Pat for my alterations. This woman is INCREDIBLE; she is a true talent in her craft and and focuses in on every detail. I'm beyond thrilled on how perfectly my dress fits every single inch of my body. I truly felt like a million dollars on my last fitting and it makes me even more excited for my big day in a couple of weeks..:) A big thank you to Owner, Alison for personally being apart of my dress experience and taking the time to check on me through every fitting; she truly cares about her costumers and pays attention to every detail to give you a truly wonderful wedding dress shopping experience ! read more

I went to the store in November to try on wedding dresses with my mom and brother, and it was an excellent experience! I came in not really having a vision of what I wanted, and Krissy made everything easy. She took what I was thinking into consideration, pulled great dresses and was overall really helpful. I ended up leaving with a dress, which I never thought was going to happen! Krissy was not pushy and let me take my time when saying "yes to the dress." The overall experience was seamless -- they took our appointment on time, adhered to COVID-19 rules and we got our own little area. Our appointment was 90 minutes, but when we stayed for longer, they didn't rush us out or make us feel pressure to leave. Afterward, they brought out champagne to celebrate and even gave me a little goodie bag. You can tell they treat their brides with the utmost respect. I can't wait to keep working with them on alterations and accessories! read more

I'm so confused by these excellent reviews. I walked in here on a Saturday afternoon with some of my bridesmaids to take a peek at some dresses and not a single employee greeted any of us for the entire half hour we poked around. As we looked through the dresses on the rack I kept finding dresses with sweat stains on the armpits, concealer spots on them and wrinkles. Do they sell consignment dresses as well? If so, why are they $2600?? If someone had bothered to talk to us I would have considered scheduling a date to come try on dresses (maybe I missed some hidden gems?) but we all walked out without so much as a "have a nice day!" from anyone working there. read more

Betsy (stylist) and Lissa (seamstress) are unbelievable...so helpful, insightful and understood what I wanted. Betsy worked with me showing different options until I found exactly what I wanted. Say YES to their dress! let me start by saying that I had been to Klienfelds, Bergdorfs, Saks, Priscilla of Boston, a boutique in Mount Kisco, and Wedding Altelier and only found a few SO SO dresses i loved. everything was so "from the books" and lacked any design aesthetics! so cookie cutter. The moment i stepped into Plumed Serpent i was greeted by Lisa, who FYI is the BEST! What a classy gal with GREAT quality taste. The day started with tour of the showroom, description of the designers, and what each section was. We picked a collection of 5 and went from there. Unlike the other places that had a PLETHORA of dresses to appease a million types of girls from trashy and tacky to pretty and delicate, Plumed Serpent had one of the most comprehensive collections. They all were high end with amazing design quality, tailoring, and runway worthy pieces. Materials were yummy and the architecture of the dresses clearly said DESIGNER! Unlike every other place, your appointment wasnt rushed and Lisa has such a wonderful eye for adding small details like earrings, veils, and broches to class up any look! All in all I bought my dress there and they even had a great discount for buyers who come in on the first appointment and buy! I LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

Let me begin by saying there are not many choices for bridal shops in the Connecticut area. I unfortunately was not as impressed as some of these brides. I went for my first experience picking out a wedding dress. I couldn't have had more pushy service. I found the dress of my dreams instantly, but was told I had to purchase right away because Bridal Market was coming up and if I didn't buy, the price would dramatically go up. Well, needless to say, I left without my dream dress. I was fortunate enough to go to Kleinfelds, who had the exact dress for $1500 cheaper. I was astonished. Not only did I get to meet the designer of my dress, but paid a lot less and walked away confident that I made the right decision. Now, this previous experience was not the reason I wanted to post, but after having a conversation with Leslie today, I had to. I called eagerly to make an appointment for a Debra Moreland Paris trunk show this weekend. I asked if I could make an appointment and was immediately asked if I had purchased my gown there. I said, "No." Leslie responded by telling me that I could not purchase jewelry from the store without being a "Plumed Serpent Bride". Really?!?!? The Plumed Serpent doesn't want customers??? How absurd! Keep sending away your customers Plumed Serpent. Brides don't shop here. The markup is ridiculous and the service is more than pushy. read more

My experiences at the Plumed Serpent were truly spectacular. The entire staff is lovely and very attentive, and I found the perfect gown for my wedding day. Lisa assisted me in my gown selection and the only problem I had was picking which style I liked the most! It was a difficult decision, since they carry so many beautiful gowns. Lisa was so helpful; she has a great eye and found me a flattering, gorgeous gown that I absolutely love. My subsequent visits for alterations were also wonderful and so easy. I couldn't have been happier with my experiences. read more

I didn't end up buying my wedding dress here, but I had a good experience here. The service was great, and the saleslady gave me extra time and let me try on several dresses. I wandered into Plumed Serpent by chance, without an appointment. Hayley greeted my mother and I and we discussed what I was looking for. It was one of my first dress shopping experience so I wasn't sure exactly what silhouette I was going for, nor did I know anything about prices. I appreciated how upfront she was with us, explaining the least expensive dresses started around $2,500. We picked three styles and I tried them on. The last two were amazing, I couldn't choose which one I liked the most. Hayley was SO PATIENT and attentive, helping me in and out of the final two contenders as many times as I wanted in order to make my decision. I honestly could not have had a better experience! read more

Last weekend I went to Plumed Serpent with my mom, future mother-in-law and maid of honor. This was the first store I went to to start my search and I couldn't be happier with my experience there. Not only did I find the dress of my dreams but the staff was fabulous! Amy was a gem... I was all over the place with styles I liked and she was able to narrow down my selection to help me find the perfect dress. They know what they are doing, treat you great and there was no pressure. I left the store to keep looking and later that day I went back to buy the dress. Amy had left for the day but the staff told her I had come back and bought the dress. On Tuesday I got a note in the mail from her congratulating me and sharing her excitement that I had gotten it. What more could you ask for from a bridal salon?? Oh, and the mimosas to ease the nerves weren't too bad either! ;-) read more

The Plumed Serpent exemplifies exactly what a small business should be. They have a wide variety of dresses at all price points, their customer service is unmatched, and they go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect on your wedding day. Alison (the store owner) and all the girls who work there are so friendly and accommodating, and make the shopping experience stress-free and fun. Here is one example of how awesome they are: My dress originally arrived about 2 months before my wedding, and after the first fitting my mom and I noticed that the designer had made some structural errors with the hem and bodice. Not only did Alison quickly alleviate any concerns we had, but she actually ended up paying the designer to remake the dress for me. When the dress came in, she accommodated my busy schedule by allowing me to come in for alterations later in the evening, as I was driving down to CT from Rhode Island. She promised everything would be perfect and she delivered! Cathy, the seamstress, is also extremely talented and made sure that my dress fit absolutely beautifully on my wedding day. Her customer service is extraordinary; she calmly listened and addressed every question and concern I had, and didn't make me feel awkward or silly when I asked her to alter seemingly minor parts of the dress. She did a wonderful job. Yes, it is expensive to have your dress altered here but you get what you pay for and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I received so many compliments on my dress on our wedding day. A huge thanks to the Plumed Serpent! read more

Lissa, Krissy, and Allison made my wedding dress dreams come true. Shopping for any clothing has often been a challenging and upsetting experience for me. From the moment I walked into the beautiful Plumed Serpent bridal shop I felt welcomed, respected, and celebrated. I cannot thank you all enough for that. What had been an experience I had sadly somewhat been dreading, instantly turned into what every girl dreams of when imagining wedding dress shopping without a negative thought at all to my size. The dresses are all gorgeous and Krissy was wonderful in helping me find exactly what I was looking for. Then when the world was spinning out of control due to the pandemic, Allison was so very supportive during what I know was an incredibly difficult time for her and the entire staff as well. When pandemic restrictions were lifted and I was finally able to have my dress fittings, Lissa worked magic in getting the alterations just right. In the end there were far more tears of happiness and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It was well worth the nearly 2 year wait from when I first tried on dresses in July of 2019 to when I finally was able to wear mine in June of 2021! Despite the pandemic putting the celebration on hold for an extra year, it was an incredible day and I am so thankful for it and all of your help and kindness along the way. read more
