I was quite…read morehesitant, since I have occasional bouts of vertigo, and I don't get along at all with hoverboards (the ankle biting neck wrenching back whacking evil cousin of the Segway). With that being said, I had a blast! Mike was our Tour "Glide", and although we made a last minute reservation that the office forgot to tell him about (along with the another tour before us), he was not upset and treated us as old friends with as much attention to our safety and enjoyment as we could ask for. After a quick video and some 1:1 test rides in the office, we were off! Mike was a fountain of knowledge about the area, knowing stuff I wasn't even aware of. He offered to take pics for us, make rest stops and let us fly at our own pace. Conversation was interesting and not tired. We rode in the streets, back alleys and the boardwalk. All of us being first-timers with negligible balancing skills, found the Segways intuitive to ride and a great experience. We all want one now, but at $5k each, I got noped. If you are concerned with people looking at you, know that most are jealous! I heard kids begging parents to do it and lots of people saying "we should do that". My only criticism is that the Segways don't have cup holders for beverages, but that's understandable (I guess). Don't forget to tip your tour glide, they make the ride fun and interesting. Park across the street in the lot if you can. It was about $1.40 for the two hours on a Sunday afternoon.

That almost happened. We read the reviews on the Long Beach location, and they were really good. You could take your own self-guided tour there, but they never called us back. But now that I've done this, I think for first timers, self-guided is NOT the way to go. Orange county Segway called us back on the day of our Anniversary and said "Krystal" was coming on on her day off (Tuesday) and would take us and another couple on a tour. Uh-oh, I thought, now I can't back out! SO FREAKING FUN!!!! Even though 1 1/2 minutes after doing the tutorial and lessons, I pretty much did what they tell you never to do, I "aborted" my Segway, and then got ran over by it, then it jumped from the street onto the sidewalk, then finally jumped into a flower bed facing the opposite way that we were headed. ONLY ME hahahaha! Krystal told us to take a picture of where it landed because she never saw anything like it LOLOLOL! Krystal was GREAT. She is the quintessential-eternal Southern California surfer girl with many many other talents and trades. Laid back, chill, and candid. We loved her, and we will return due to her! After our experience, I'd have to say this is a great location. We saw dolphin, California Sea Lions and tons of schools of fish swimming in the clear turquoise waters near Balboa pier. She showed us all of the beautiful beach homes and the stories that surrounded them. She recommended a yummy Mexican food place a couple of doors down from the shop that was very good. Honestly, it was one of the best local anniversaries we've had! Sure, it only took me about a 1/2 hour and to really get comfortable on the Segway, but now I'm a pro, and have considered teaching the tour -- NOT! Try this, really, Y.O.L.O.!!!!! Yelp yourself!

I love Laguna Beach! Yes, it is always super crowded but it's a small city so that's what you…read moreshould expect. I would say parking is a hassle, which it is, but I've been through much worse. I never get lucky enough to find street parking although most of it is metered and that's always annoying, but they have plenty of affordable parking lots so definitely just pay up. We didn't spend more than $5 for parking so for a beach day that is totally worth it. There are lots of shops and restaurants to visit while you are in the area. I definitely recommend walking along the beach cliffside. There is a paved trailed and the view is gorgeous. To me, it's just as pretty as Hawaii! We chose to eat at Urth Cafe during our most recent visit but the other restaurants I have visited have also been very pleasent. They have good quality food and the prices are expensive but definitely affordable for an ocean view. I would recommend to arrive early. Maybe the crowds wont be as bad plus you need to plan for traffic when you leave Laguna Beach. We were caught in a traffic jam when we left in the afternoon and it seemed like it was backed up the entire day. But like I said, I have been through much worse and Laguna Beach is still always worth the visit. Will be back soon!

It is not affiliated with the NAC, only launches the kayaks from there. The two hours included a brief safety demonstration, and launching the kayaks into the bay. Overall, it was about 1.5 hours total on the water. Heather was a fantastic tour guide! She was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and projects going on in the area, and even took pictures of our group to send to us at the end of the tour! There were 3 volunteers of the NBC on the tour with us, one who stayed in the front, another in the middle, and a third "sweeping" the back. It doesn't seem likely to get lost, but it was nice to know there were multiple people looking out for you. Parking at the Aquatic Center was super easy and free. The actual parking spots filled up fast, but there was a large sandy area where majority of people ended up parking. Look for the Newport Bay Conservancy flag when you arrive, this is where the tour group meets! Very awesome experience, would do again especially if I have visitors in town.

Not only is he kind and thoughtful, but he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the area and gives you so much insight. Even my teenagers loved the tour and Lou and his insight. We learned so much from Lou and he even takes the extra time to check the news prior to your tour to ensure your safety. He is not only knowledgeable, but he is very personable and easy to talk to. He really works hard and does this from the heart to give you a world class experience. We were lucky that we did not have anyone else on our tour, so we basically had a private tour. Lou made sure we saw what we wanted to see, gave us extra time in places that mattered more to us and the places we were not so interested in we did not spend as much time there. I learned during my California stay that the roads can be challenging with aggressive drivers. Lou, however, was a great driver and handled situations other drivers threw at him with the safety of himself and us in mind at all times. He also gave us tips and tricks for our Disney experience tomorrow, for what we should try to do, etc. We seriously may come back next year just to try to do some of the things Lou suggested PLUS take another tour with him. Lou also took some great pictures for us which he airdropped to us at the end of the tour. I may not use TA a lot, but I do use another service that I have an elite status on and I do reviews often. I assure you this will be a first class experience and you will not be sorry! My kids really adored Lou, and I truly enjoyed his care. What better tour to take than someone with a ton of knowledge and who genuinely cares about your experience!
