So I joined the neon signs tour around DTLA provided by the Museum of Neon Arts. I wasn't expecting much from I it but I was very much surprised to see this part of Los Angeles in a different way, but in a good way. I came in the United States as a tourist on multiple occasions before deciding to migrate. As a tourist, I never saw a need to take these tourist buses. I thought I can tour LA on my own. However, I realized the big difference between a DIY tour versus a tour provided by a professional guides. Erik from MONA was our tour guide. This guy was very knowledgeable and entertained us all throughout the evening as we go around to see the neon signs. He's very informative and best of all, funny AF! ACTUALLY , the closed windows were great because of the air conditioning! The windows were plenty big enough to see everything and you didn't smell marijuana all day. . 2. We saw everything ! I booked the TMZ After Dark Tour, hyped it up, invited people, and really thought it was about to be a vibe. I played it off and still tried to enjoy myself, but honestly I was embarrassed. The only halfway fun part was the bus, and that was because of my group. First off, the TMZ worker let her friends (who didn't pay) on the bus while the rest of us paid $70. That already didn't sit right. Then the host... who thought it was a good idea to have a 70+ host who can barely walk running a nightlife tour? (Janice Dickerson) On top of that, she controlled the music. Some songs I could rock with, but others had us like "what is this?" and it took way too long to recover the vibe. Biggest issue: the bars. They were NOT inclusive. I'm all for trying new spots, but not when they're completely empty except for the bus patrons and two other people looking at all the Black and Hispanic people like "why are you here?" (Which someone actually asked my friend that) The energy was uncomfortable and unwelcoming the entire time. There were 20 high school seniors and 4 chaperones and we were picked up on time in a clean, beautiful bus, with wonderful service. We spent 10 hours going to different stops in LA and everything was perfect, including an ice chest of ice-cold water! We used them again on our trip to the airport a few days later and same experience. Communication was perfect from inquiry about pricing to contracting and during the trip.
