After having multiple, thoroughly impressive service experiences at the Canberra Centre location, we were completely disappointed by the service provided at the Belconnen location. We came into the Belconnen location to establish or internet service shortly after we established our mobile service at the other location. We found the staff to be incredibly rude and completely clueless as to the services/availability they could provide. We had to come in several times as they were unable to determine the service and speed availability for our flat which they had serviced in the past. On two occasions were were offered package deals at selected rates only to find out shortly after that the staff member had spoken falsely or incorrectly. When this was brought up with the manager on duty, the manager did not attempt to correct the misinformation, educate the staffer or apologize for the inconvenience. At all times, the staff seemed to have an disposition and tone as if they were doing a favor for us, the customers paying several thousand dollars p/a.
After three days of inability to determine if they could provide service or provide a rate and after an Optus emplyee explained that they rent internet lines from Telstra, we went next door and hired Telstra on the spot who offered us a higher average speed at a lower rate than Optus had even been able to discuss, as well as three months of free premium television service.
It's worth the drive to the Optus at Canberra Centre, but keep this in mind... in many cases, when you hire Optus for internet, they then have to rent the lines from Telstra which often means hire rates or lower average speeds. read more
