After having multiple, thoroughly impressive service experiences at the Canberra Centre location,…read morewe were completely disappointed by the service provided at the Belconnen location. We came into the Belconnen location to establish or internet service shortly after we established our mobile service at the other location. We found the staff to be incredibly rude and completely clueless as to the services/availability they could provide. We had to come in several times as they were unable to determine the service and speed availability for our flat which they had serviced in the past. On two occasions were were offered package deals at selected rates only to find out shortly after that the staff member had spoken falsely or incorrectly. When this was brought up with the manager on duty, the manager did not attempt to correct the misinformation, educate the staffer or apologize for the inconvenience. At all times, the staff seemed to have an disposition and tone as if they were doing a favor for us, the customers paying several thousand dollars p/a. After three days of inability to determine if they could provide service or provide a rate and after an Optus emplyee explained that they rent internet lines from Telstra, we went next door and hired Telstra on the spot who offered us a higher average speed at a lower rate than Optus had even been able to discuss, as well as three months of free premium television service. It's worth the drive to the Optus at Canberra Centre, but keep this in mind... in many cases, when you hire Optus for internet, they then have to rent the lines from Telstra which often means hire rates or lower average speeds.

What an appalling company! Avoid at all costs. Having been direct-debit customers for more than a…read moredecade we informed Optus a few days ago that we're moving interstate and would like our internet/phone service to conclude in about two weeks. Their response? They cut our service IMMEDIATELY. According to their Customer Care team, it cannot be reactivated. So, two weeks before a house move, we've lost everything; no phone, no internet, no emails. Initially Optus said they could only restore our internet/phone again if we re-signed a contract for another 12 months. I explained yet again that we're moving interstate in two weeks. After several phone calls they agreed to provide a very limited Wi-Fi internet service (substantially less than our normal data allocation) that could give us basic on-line access for a couple of weeks. They have refused to re-connect our phone line however, so anyone who tries to call us (our removalist, utility companies, friends) will get a dead line. Optus have promised numerous times in the last 24 hours to contact us again regarding alternative options but so far we haven't heard from anyone! If that's what Optus considers to be good customer service, put them last on your list. Go with ANY other provider.
