I have been going to this doctor's office for a while because my in-laws recommended this office. The doctors, physician's assistants and staff are good here. However, as of the late, my main frustration is their prescription refill process. It seems like when you call the office you do not reach anyone directly - I think it's a call center. I tried to refill my prescription but when it went to the pharmacy it was declined by the doctor. Thus, began a continuous loop of me calling the office, regurgitating the same information call after call to various call receivers, and never getting a call back from the doctor/office. I've been coming here for over a decade. This place is not reliable anymore. All the good physicians left like Dr. Agatep or Dr. Bland (I think Dr. Kimbal is still there and he was always pretty good) however no more urgent care, fine. How do they not have time to see a patient who walks in at 8-am. The second of only 2-people. The front desk certainty won't ask to fit you in for any cancellations like they used to and they tell you the soonest they can see you is 3 days later. Taking the urgent care away feels like a disservice and you can feel that some of these people couldn't care less or show any initiative. Oh and good luck renewing a prescription, they'll forget and drop the ball over and over again. Had to set an appointment with a practitioner and pay a $25 co-pay just to renew my prescription because no one at the front desk could facilitate a simple request. I had my PCP changed to Dr. Zia and had my first annual check up here. It was an easy process to make a phone call for my reservation and the receptionist was helpful. Dr. Zia is bilingual so for me it's more easier and comfortable to communicate and discuss everything with her. She ordered the blood test and I received my result with her opinion in 1 week which I think was very efficient. Overall, my experience here was great! read more

Have been trying to get my regular prescriptions filled and sent to the correct pharmacy for over a week now. Nothing has been done going on a week now. Sadly, not once has the provider even tried contacting me. Literally nothing gets done. I've called a total of 5 times over 7 days. Repeating the same thing to the person on the other line. They blame it on them getting used to a new health record system. Okay, I understand how new transitions happen and how people need to be patient. But when it comes to patients feeling like they're ignored, don't matter, and are left without their mental health meds (I've been out for a week now)...one starts to get pretty upset. read more

Great Experience at Optum Urgent Care I can't say enough good things about Optum Urgent Care! My daughter and I were both feeling really sick with bronchitis, and the staff went above and beyond to help us feel better. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly, and they truly made us feel cared for during a tough time. The new system they have in place for seeing patients is fantastic. It was so easy to schedule our appointments, and we didn't have to wait long to be seen. Dr. A. Tenazas was friendly, professional, and quick to get us the care we needed to start feeling better. We've been coming to this urgent care for several years now, and every time we've been, we've had a great experience. The entire staff is always so welcoming, and we always feel well taken care of. I highly recommend arriving early to schedule your appointment for the day to ensure the best experience. They have many good doctors and staffs in this facility, but each time I come there's always new faces. Sometimes it's hard for changes when patients get use to seeing the same doctors. From changing one doctor to another can be stressful. Facility is clean and staffs are friendly. Although, sometimes it's hard to get a hold of this office when returning the call (it doesn't go directly to this facility ) Dr. Agatep is one of the BEST doctors in this facility. My family & I have always been his patients. He is a great listener, passionate of what he does, takes time to go thoroughly with medications and provides any healthy solutions to help his patients get better . It's never a rush when I see him. He's compassionate, caring, and honest to his patients. He's very intelligent, informative, and knowledgeable. Gives you health instructions/exercise of what you can do at home. It's sadly that he will be leaving soon and I will no longer be his patient, but happy for him for his new journey. Future patients will be lucky to have him. I have nothing but bad things to say about this facility and their billing department. I went for my annual physical, of which I am allowed once every year, and they billed me for an office visit because they said it wasn't 12 months since my last visit. Despite spending countless hours on the phone with them and drawing in my insurance who informed them that I was allowed an annual physical (not every 12 months) and instructing them how to bill, they continued to neglect their duties and rebill. After at least 6 hours on the phone with them, they have now sent me a final bill, almost 12 months since I had my visit. I am tempted to send my own bill, which would far exceed the $120.66 that they are insisting I pay. I think they are just trying to wear me down. Not worth the effort of going here. Take you business elsewhere. read more

I have always received excellent care from this facility. I've been going here for many years, through a couple of different insurance carriers with my work. Even though the doctors, PAs or NPs may change, everyone has always been very accommodating, caring, good listeners, and generally seem to care about my wellbeing. This is the worst urgent care I've visited. The doctors here have refused to examine me, regardless of having very straightforward symptoms requiring diagnosis and antibiotics. They made me do telehealth first, misdiagnosed me, causing me to get much more sick (over 100 degree fever for over SEVEN days). I returned again when the same symptoms, explained my prior experience and that I'd like to be examined by the doctor. Only to get turned away again and told I must do telehealth first. (Also yes, I arrived with NEGATIVE COVID tests both visits). Lazy physicians who don't care. No one does their job. Doctors turn patients away when they are sick. Won't see patients in person. My son was sent out of the office with 102 temperature and told a dr would call him. Call came in and was told to drink water and take Advil. Found a dr that would see him, he needed two antibiotics shots plus oral antibiotics. So disappointed in the Doctors at optum Seal Beach. Optum has the worst care and Dr.s. I can't say how amazing Memorial Urgent Care in Cypress is in comparison. The staff is kind, compassionate and I was able to be seen IN PERSON within 30 minutes by a knowledgeable Dr. who diagnosed my issues correctly and prescribed the appropriate medication!!!! I see a regular Dr. at this location as well. All records are documented online in the patients' own chart. I even left urgent care with copies of my visit details. I don't go to the doctor often, but whenever I do it's always been easy to get a same day or next day appointment when I'm sick. Today I went in for a physical exam (haven't had one in years). Even though this appointment was booked nearly 6 weeks out, I waited no more than 5 minutes to be seen from the time I checked in. Everyone was courteous and efficient. Dr.Carreon is always pleasant to work with, she takes her time and answers all my questions no matter how random they are. The whole appointment including blood work took about an hour. I've never had to go to the urgent care so I cannot comment on that, but as far as family care I am happy with this office. read more

I agree with the other one and two star reviews. This place has really gone downhill in recent years. They are severely understaffed. It is impossible to see a doctor. The front office staff is rude and they provide contradictory information. Don't even think of going there if you are sick or in need of something quickly. Just gets worse. When you put people in charge who lord their 'power' over others, especially the patients, you fail at all levels in their version of so called health care, in my opinion. There is no true corporate office to call as its the big run-around. So, those in the position of 'authority' take full advantage, knowing absolutely nothing can, nor ever will, happen to them. I say this, as I have reached out on numerous occasions, trying to find the number for the corporate office. When I called the listed corporate office, I was told that there was no Optum office in Seal Beach on PCH. Yes... This happened more than one time. By the time I finish this review, maybe they will have got their act together. I started over a year ago and haven't had a hard to continue calling and asking the answers to simple questions. Like who's in charge? For me, the quality of care has slipped dramatically. Someone simply discussing, and then handing you a prescription is not my idea of "care"... There is no such thing as a complete physical other than blood work up. If he's so called doctor doesn't even bother to check your breathing, your heartbeat, look in your ears, even or tap your Knees to see if you're reflexes are normal, they most certainly are not going to be checking your eyes, ears, nose, and throat. What they once used to do as a regular check up they don't even do in a yearly check up! How pathetic is that? They don't touch one part of your body to see if you have a tumor somewhere because most people don't know where to look for tumors and I'm not just talking about Breast or prostate. Most of the people I've known that have had cancer had glandular tumors that they were unaware of. In the throat, very common, as well as behind the breast, and it's not caught by mammogram. These are just two examples of the multiple ways you can detect to see if someone has a tumor that might even be benign. No one will know it's there until it's way late in the game. I've been to far too many funerals in the past two years that are not related to Covid whatsoever. All cancer related and all undetected until someone had brain, cancer, and heart, cancer of all things, and all starting from myeloma. Something easy to detect once someone was able to put the pieces together for one of these friends. It's not that I don't like the doctor that I have been going to, I just don't appreciate the laissez-faire attitude that it's "not my fault, (basically), that's just the way things are." Well, they're only that way because those who have the responsibility of caring for patients, are not standing up and fighting for the patients. That's my very strong opinion. And it's based on the feeling that you get when you ask questions about your care. I'm not stating that they have no feelings or don't care, but this is the expression that comes across when you try to fight for your care with your doctor. I've heard this is more than one person who goes to this particular location and noches from the doctor I go to. It's not like there's better places to go because unfortunately, the place I left, Healthcare Partners, is now in charge of Optum. I had to leave them because all of my favorite doctors who really cared and took the time to figure out and diagnose appropriately, left because of the lack of support they were receiving. That is exactly the way it was put to me. But in very gentle words. I am not fond of Optum but I can't suggest another place to go. I will be seeking other medical facilities associated with hospitals that have great reputations. That's about the best I can do for now. It just will never be at Optum. Sometimes you don't know that your doctor is doing a disservice until something serious happens. And that somethings serious may have been some thing that was easily detected. Had someone bothered to do what they used to do when they did a full yearly exam. It would take an hour for that exam. Just so you know. Not five minutes And go get a blood work up. All of the best to everyone out there looking for quality care. At least the doctors here and the PAs are all very nice, and even better if there's nothing wrong with you and OK if you are managing your own care and just getting their approval. read more

I came in for a xray and I called to asked what's the latest I can come in, the girl I spoke to said before 4, I got there any 340 she called and asked if a xray technician will be here and she said yes I will be seen. Paid my copay of 35 for the visit and X-ray. Waiting for about 35mins get called in and I asked the MA AGAIN I will have a xray done correct? She said yea, doctor walks in and tells me the tech left for the day. The nurse who was talking to the doctor outside the room was so rude to him, i can hear everything that was being said. He was trying to find a solution and she was just giving attitude. For a nurse/ MA what ever she was to talk to a doctor like that is unprofessional and disrespectful. read more

It is always great to have a reliable urgent care so close to home. Staff is friendly and very competent. I went on a Monday morning, which is one of their busiest days and was still filling out paperwork when someone took me back to a room. The tech was very thorough in getting an update on my meds, vaccines, etc. It took awhile for the doctor to finally see me as they were having computer problems but he was very good at getting to to bottom of my stuffed-up and painful ear. I went to the urgent care for an asthma attack and registered with the front desk. Normally when I have trouble breathing I am quickly admitted. After waiting for close to an hour I was told that it would be at least another 2 hours. After hearing this I left to get medical care at another urgent care. read more

I recently tested positive for Covid for the first time and called to request a "telehealth" appointment. I was given an appointment time and received a call about 45 minutes before to review my symptoms and go over other medications I took. I was told that there were 3 people ahead of me and that I would receive a call shortly. 90 minutes later I hadn't received a call so I called back, only to be told that there were now SIX people ahead of me. I told them to cancel the appointment. Less than 30 minutes later I got a text with a link for a Zoom call for a telehealth appointment, so I logged on. Shay Seitz, the PA, was there but by his own admission there was something wrong with his video so I never saw him. We spoke about a treatment plan for the Covid, which included both prescription meds and some over-the-counter meds to support my immune system. Our zoom call lasted just over 8 minutes. One of the things Mr. Seitz recommended was "Zinc 220", which was apparently 50mg. tablets that he wanted me to take 2 of once a day. What I HEARD and confirmed with him was that I was to take 220mg of Zinc once a day -- over 4 times the recommended daily allowance. As it was, his recommendation was over twice the recommended allowance. I wasn't corrected by Mr. Seitz, so I assumed that I'd heard him correctly. That night I took 250 mg of Zinc because it doesn't come in 20mg tablets and I didn't know that taking more than the recommended daily allowance was toxic. Within 30 minutes I was horribly, horribly sick and came close to having to go to the hospital. I continued to have gastrointestinal issues for the next 72 hours. I tried contacting the office, and after my fourth attempt finally spoke with Minerva, the office administrator. I told her everything that had happened and was told that I would be contacted by the managing doctor, Howard Bland. It's been 3 business days and I have yet to hear from anyone at the office, even after calling again and requesting that I receive a return call. I cannot believe that this is considered acceptable practice by this office. Mr. Seitz was reckless in his conversation with me. Minerva made a promise that she couldn't keep and Howard Bland apparently doesn't care that his PA almost sent a patient to the hospital. I will never darken their doors again. read more

I had to take time off work. It is not patient's responsibility to confirm the appointment. Perhaps they are having issues with the system that does not let them save the scheduled appointment? This clinic Is a joke. Some necessary back story, quickly. I have issues from cancer that mimic some symptoms of covid. When I went that clinic I truthfully checked a couple symptoms on their questionnaire. I was told that despite being 100% sure I had a sinus infection I could only see the Dr. via a telemed visit. For what ever reason they had technical difficulties and proceeded to do the visit via my cell phone. B/C of previously stated symtoms drs. always need to listen to my lungs first thing. In my opinion a diagnosis of anything respiratory related in a person with a history of related issues approaches quackery & malpractice. Everyone knows their own health issues the best and is their own best advocate. I won't go to this clinic again unless I'm bleeding to death. Have gone twice with this nasty virus going around this season. First doctor actually listened to my lungs and heart and took a chest X-ray. prescribed meds. Two weeks later back for worse symptoms. The PA wouldn't come near me. Never listened to my lungs. Prescribed more drugs. When I asked about some testing or other treatment he told me this is just an outpatient facility. if I wanted more, I should go to ER. They certainly are not equipped to be an urgent care facility! No one wants to go to urgent care, so it is especially appreciated when the employees and doctors make you feel cared for. From the moment reception greeted us, we felt comfortable and frankly, safe. A family member had sand in their eye and clearly scratched the eye badly. We got through all the forms quickly and waited about 15 minutes. This was a Friday morning, there were three other people in the waiting room. The staff was sympathetic and checked on us even after we were put in a room and waiting for the doctor. Doctor had clearly read the notes and staff had brought in special came eye equipment. Doctor gently determined the extent of the injury and course of action. Immediately sent antibiotic prescription to CvS across the street, which was ready by the time we got there. Encouraged us to call back in if there were any questions or problems. Really appreciated the professional and quick responses, the kind staff, and the doctor's patience in explaining the procedures and the care. read more
