I've been coming here for a about 4 years now. My coworker recommended I go see Demetra Bastas, instead of the actual doctor (Guevara). She was not wrong! Demetra has been more than helpful. She genuinely cares about her patients well being. She truly takes the time to listen and is always extremely helpful. As far as Dr. Guevara, I don't recommend her. I get the feeling she's just there to do her job but doesn't truly take the time to listen. She's ok if you have a typical cold. I went to her twice when I got hit my vertigo and she didn't do much to help me. Demetra on the other hand, helped me with referring me to a psychical therapist and a neurologist when my symptoms got worse. If it wasn't for Demetra, I would have left HCP a long time ago. She is truly the best! She deserves 5 stars and above with just her alone. read more

The worst! please go elsewhere don't waste your time here. i had an appointment today at 9:20 they called me at 8am stating my appointment was cancelled because the doctor called out. I said ok can another doctor see me? i literally called off for this appointment. They said let me check with another doctor they came back and said ok we have availability at 10:20am i say ok I'll take it. She proceeded by asking me what were my symptoms i said stuffy nose, throat ache, and cough she replied by saying "you have a cough you can't come into the office" i said excuse me? so a sick patient can't go into a doctors office? this is ridiculous, where is sick patients supposed to go? she said one second put me on hold again and finally she said ok come in. I get there and the nurse that checked my vitals was very dismissive very rude. i asked the doctor if she could swab me for a strep throat so the nurse came back and handed me the swab! i said ok what am i supposed to do with this she said swab the back of your throat i was chocked like why is this nurse here? she couldn't even do her job. i did it handed her the swab and she leaves. 5 minutes later ok it's negative you are free to go. I honestly don't even think i did it right. they didn't swab my nose or tested me for covid just so dismissive both doctor and nurse. am go somewhere else and if i test positive for any i will call them. this is not acceptable it doesn't seem like they care for their patients. read more

The front desk woman don't have any type of quality care towards their patients. Stay away from this medical office. As far as the doctors they are not bad. I went in for a wellness exam first of all I told the nurse scheduling the appointment I suffer from really bad anxiety and panic attacks to give me the first appointment, I told her I was going to be on day 26th of my cycle if I could do a pap. I asked her to please make sure since I didn't want to go in for a second time. I work in a medical facility as well I know that you can have some blood in your cervix when you are closer to your cycle. With my anxiety I called again and I confirm when they called me to confirm I said it again, when I checked in I said it again. Not only they made me wait 32 min but when I came in all the room were empty and everyone drinking coffee and passing a desert and laughing. I was trying my best to center my self and to ground. I told the nurse again. When the PA came in I was ready for the exam and I did mention it to her but she was already there and sure enough she said I can't see anything you are right your cervix is cloudy, she said please reschedule the appointment I told her this is what I didn't wanted to happen I made everyone aware of this before happening I have so much anxiety and I takes a lot for me to come. She apologized and said I was never ask I am sorry I would definitely speak to all the MAs scheduled something. For what best works for you tell them to make exceptions speak to the supervisor you won't have to wait I would only do this exam and that's it. I did everything. I felt super annoyed and anxious I wanted to run from there she left I walked out didn't make an appointment. She called me and made sure I was okay and again apologize and ask me to call when I was ready to speak to the supervisor and she would make notes to bring me in for this exam only. This happened on April 21st this experience made me so nervous and anxious I had to work with my phycologist to work on rescheduling this appointment again. I finally felt ready on May 1st I been trying to to get a hold of management since left several messages this is where I felt the poor patient care they have for their patients, right know anxiety and depression is a world wide and mental health is in serious crisis the least thing we need is to feel secure and safe with out medical offices taken care of us and not returning calls shows that they either don't care of the patient care of the to busy. I had a lot of patience. It makes me feel they really didn't even ask the PA (the question I asked ) or probably flag my chart of my anxiety. I am extremely disappointed with the level of service and professionalism at this facility. I initially visited to have a physical done and was informed by Dr. Estrella that it would be completed. I even called in advance to confirm this and was told over the phone that my physical had been done. However, when I later requested a copy of my records, I was informed that there was no documentation of a physical ever being performed. There has been far too much runaround with this clinic. I've received conflicting information from different staff members, and despite my efforts to confirm appointments and procedures ahead of time, I've been met with confusion and disorganization at every step. After the initial issue, I returned to reschedule my physical and to get a TB test. I was given an appointment for Saturday, but when I arrived, I was told: 1.The clinic did not have the necessary materials to perform the TB test. 2.No one was available to complete the physical. To make matters worse, I waited for over an hour without any communication or updates from staff. I was then rescheduled for Monday, only to receive multiple calls stating that the appointment was overbooked or that they could no longer see me. I understand that unexpected issues can arise, but as a full-time employee and student, I have very limited flexibility. I made every effort to be accommodating, but the repeated scheduling issues, lack of follow-through, and poor communication have made this process incredibly frustrating. The staff really need to get it together. I had a great experience with Dr. Estrella--he was extremely helpful and accommodating during my visit--but as for the rest of the staff, I'm extremely disappointed. The medical group Optum is the pits. Its a large corporation who buys lots of medical practices. I havent been to this facility but have been to other Optum owned practices. They have a lousy authorization system and it is very hard to talk to anybody. You can get a call center who doesnt know anything. You can call member services if you can find their phone number, took me half hour and some inside help to get the number. Their internet sites don't help and refer you to your health insurance. Member services wouldnt answer my questions and transferred me to my health insurance. Some of the specialists offices they send you to have long waiting times once you arrive for your appointment, and harassed receptionists and staff who seem untrained ; give wrong information, don't know how or can't help , and can't refer you to someone who can. I have been with Optum way before was acquired from health care partners, and Harriman Jones. Their open schedule for appointments is the best, excellent Doctors, their Pediatricians are incredible, they take time to explain in detail whatever situation we have. Their referral department follows up immediately. Approvals are received right away. I would highly recommend the OPTUM clinics. read more

Dr Julka is a joke. Very unprofessional every time I go in we go over my mom's new medications specialist outcome specially when my mom had her PD procedure. As I also have a job and take care of my mother full time as she is 86 and can't be left alone. She recently started dialysis she was questioning me why do I have to be off work. I will be connecting and disconnecting her. This is for me just to get training because classes are during my working hours. Good thing my job is flexible with my schedule but I did needed some paperwork filled out for HR. I also sent her my jury duty form to fill out. It's funny how everything falls on someone at the same time. The day of jury duty was her first day at home dialysis. I had a phone conversation with her and stated if she can walk she can go on her own to get dialysis I tried to explain to her what type of dialysis and how often she was going to have to connect but because she's a professional she can speak over you and don't allow to say anything. I just walked in got my paperwork I left and change doctor the sad thing is that she was a nephrologist before getting this position she knows better how home dialysis works and she knows my mother won't be able to connect herself everyday. Bye Dr.Julka for ever no time for doctors that don't have compassion for their patients. Optum needs to really look into this issue with this Dr. there's a lot of negative reviews of this place. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars this office and it's staff is a joke the office manager Nancy is very unprofessional and rude she is so dismissive and has no care for the patient. Nancy the front office receptionist is also rude and has an attitude neither one of them have clearly not been properly trained in patient relations when a patient has chronic pain and they come into the office to find out why their prescription has not been filled for 3 days or no one has contacted the patient back they get an attitude and act inconvenienced and do nothing to resolve the issue. I'm assuming this is how they treat their medi-cal patients because if someone comes in with private insurance they are super friendly and go above and beyond. A patient should not have to wait 3 days to come in to find out why their prescription hasn't been filled. The lack of patient care is lacking. If they would have said you need to go see the specialist to go get your prescription than all this could have been resolved. Instead of the office Manager saying let me resolve this issue for you no she left the door open and violated my husbands Hippa rights by leaving the door open and exposed everyone in the waiting room as well as the useless security guard she was good enough to call instead of being a manager and diffuse the situation herself she passed the baton on which seems to be a common practice here in this office everyone passes the blame on to someone else and no one takes accountability. At no point did any staff member go above and beyond to resolve this issue, at no point did they offer my husband an appointment to see the doctor, at no point did they attempt to call the specialist to see how they could help on their end they did nothing to help this patient. I know there's 4 receptionists, and that day it was busy but she kept very calm, friendly and she is very professional and has a lot of nolauge. When a New Entity takes over and their goals have changed, it is the patient who loses. The clinic now begins to put you with different provers because the provider has no room to see their patient, due to the provider being given patients that are not assigned to them. Now the the provider has no clue of your previous health history, what you need, what you want and you are left having to prove that history. Providers are only given a few minutes to take care of you. They do not have the time for your history rundown. That provider may feel that you are self diagnosing or refuse to listen to the patient who has been living that history. Health history is everything. What a shame on the clinic and the way it is being run. Because now your health is at risk. Your history is not added to the calculation. How then do you make the right decision as a provider. It is not the fault of the provider but that of the individuals who run it. read more

Primary Care- Dr. Joshi-Patel, one of the worst doctors I have ever dealt with. Poor quality of care and horrendous service. Patient Liaison is horrible. She does not know how to handle frustrated patients. She told me how great she is and how she is not the typical patient liaison and did not let me talk. I changed office to be close to home...WORST decision ever! MARCY the receptionist is bitter and unprofessional! She bothered to call me back to be argumentative... who does that on a professional medical setting?? Someone at their office canceled our appointment and when we show up... we had to suffer the consequences. First, she said to reschedule and then said to wait until dr has time. This place is horrible and I don't recommend this location.. I had an appointment for the pediatrician in the beginning of June 2023 that I scheduled 2-3 months prior for a physical for my children .. I request that day off work and something told me to call to confirm the appointment since I never received a reminder call the day before.. Well I call and receptionist tells it the appointment was canceled..I was so mad I asked her it was canceled by who ? she wouldn't give me an answer she just told me that I had to reschedule.. So I rescheduled for August before my kids return back to school.. They had the appointment and Pediatrician let's us know they need a vaccine but it is in back order.. So few weeks later I get a call that they have the vaccine.. So I scheduled another appointment to see the Nurse Practitioner on 9/7/2023 .. We'll once again I didn't receive a call as a reminder that I had an appointment a day prior .. So I call the morning of my appointment to confirm it.. I know I had an appointment at 4:00 pm .. receptionist tells me it's at 3:40 pm .. I was ok fine .. Well guess what I show up at 3:30 pm checked in with the receptionist.. looked at how many people were sitting at the we lobby .. there was and elderly couple only.. I sat there with my kids waited to get called in .. 15, 25, 30, 40, 50 minutes passed.. so I get up after 1 hour wait.. I ask another receptionist how long is it going to take? we are here for 1 vaccine.. as soon as I tell her that .. The Nurse Practitioner calls our name .. We walked in to examine room and I started to tell the Nurse that we been waiting 1 hour .. She tells me that she was waiting on us and that she thought we were a no show to our appointment.She told me I shouldn't of waited that long to say something.. the max we should of waited was 15 mins to get called in .. So basically it sounds like receptionist just forgot about us .. I've had bad experiences with this location and I don't recommend.. I only use them because there close to my home .. I had the worst experience at this office as a loyal member to this company. I had an appointment at 1:20 arrived 10 mins early to check in and was told I could not see the doctor whom I've been seeing for the past 2 years because they didn't take my insurance. The First Lady I had an encounter with was very rude and wasn't knowledgeable of how insurance works and needs to be retrained. The Second Lady was more understanding and I thank her for going above to help me resolve my issue. However, I called my member services hotline and was told because the type of insurance I have I could have seen my doctor and that they were incorrect! The representative called the front desk at Optum in Downey and spoke with someone to explain the type of insurance I have and she tried to transfer the call to the front desk and NO ONE ever picked up the phone. I then receive a call from Optum offering me a phone appointment and that they can take my insurance. ZERO STARS ! read more

I can not believe that the doctors at Optum Downey will not see patients. Everything is about Covid , so you can have 10 others things wrong with you and they will not see you. I can have tonsilitis or strep throat but Dr Kevin has no desire to see his patients. So frustrating. read more

This is my moms doctors office. At first we were having some issues with her insurance not being assigned to the correct group so it was a little frustrating, however Ingrid took it upon herself to help us out with this ongoing issue. She contacted her eligibility department and told me she'd call me back the following day. She followed through with her promise and called me back and assured me that we would not have any issues moving forward. I really like this facility because they are on it with my moms authorizations, medications and scheduling her appointments in a timely manner. We always get greeted at the front and the facility has really expanded. Dr. Gallardo is really nice but truthfully any doctor that my mom has seen at this facility has been great. Some nurses don't always have the greatest customer service, but just because one or two are not great, does not take away from all the ones that really do an amazing job. I really don't know why these reviews are so low but I do wish more people that had positive experiences would actually post about it. Thank you Optum Downey! Keep it up! read more

Tried calling to find out what's going on with my order/auth for an ultrasound. My original appointment was 3 weeks ago and haven't received anything yet. Spoke to someone at Optum- they said no auth in my file, so I wanted to speak to someone at the office and see if they request was even submitted. It's been an hour and 25 minutes in counting and I don't think they're planning to answer the phone. I have been bringing my daughter for regular check ups but this time she had a weird rash spreading and turning red to purple in 1 day. I made an appointment and they scheduled it quick, I advised them my mom, her grandmother (babysitter) will be taking her. She has her medical insurance card on hand, they said via phone yes that's fine. Later on that same day they called to confirm the next days morning appointment and once again I said my mom, her grandmother(babysitter) will take her they said ok. The next day I get a call that they WONT see my daughter because her grandmother wasn't on the paperwork. Her grandmother claimed it might be an emergency but they didn't even attempt to call me, or have a nurse for evaluation before turning them away. Their main purpose is to provide care, they failed this time miserably. The front desk should not have the authority to send patients away without evaluating if the issue can wait. read more

I have been going to this office for 10 years. I love this office in comparison to Kaiser facilities. The staff is great. The office is clean. It's not a huge office but my favorite doctor is here. Dr. Phan can be a bit much at times but he goes above and beyond to make sure I am taking care of my health. I feel like I am a priority rather than just a patient. If you have any concerns he will address them quickly. I never feel like I have to wait days for a response. read more

I wanted a doctor that felt like someone I could trust and I found that in nurse practitioner Cynthia Matthews, she is the best and I can't express how grateful I am for her services ! Super disappointed with this facility! They never take you in on time(Wait is 1-1.5 hours) and they are terrible at communicating. I began seeing my OBGYN in March 2022, I am now 6 months pregnant and on my last visit, I find out that it is my doctor's LAST DAY because she is RETIRING! No one cared to let me know, not even the doctor because I saw her in June and she failed to mention this! I am a first-time mom and this is already overwhelming as it is and now searching for a new doctor which is something that I did not want to do! They had zero compassion or consideration for me. They treated an older lady rudely simply because she said she was tired and they said it could be COVID and turned her away. She had no other symptoms! The lady is an older women what do they expect to hear from her, that she is full of energy? These girls are bimbos. They need to get retrained or hire people who work efficiently helping patients instead of gossiping about them after a patient is walks away. If I could give a zero, I would most definitely! The pediatrician there Dr. Reis seems nice at first but does not listen to your children. I took my daughter to her that was complaining of headaches for over a year and she did nothing but say maybe my daughter was stressed. She never seemed to believe her, I even asked her about a CT scan for my daughter but she said it wasn't necessary. My daughter one day finally couldn't take it and I rushed her to the ER where they found a mass. She was hospitalized at CHOC hospital and they also found that she had severe inter cranial fluid that was putting pressure and causing her headaches. I was so upset that my child had to endure so much pain and this woman who calls herself doctor not care. I was able to confront her and tell her that she owes my daughter an apology but she made excuses as to why she didn't do more. I asked if she would allow her son to be in so much pain like my daughter, she just replied with "I would listen to my child's doctor " When she said that I immediately felt sorry for her son because had I listened to her and not my daughter, she still would be in pain now. I came here because my usual Long Beach location at the Plaza was booked and changing my appointment would be a month setback. So I came here to see my neurologist the other day and the room is really small if you're here to see Dr. Oh (who is great by the way). This whole medical plaza is clean, with ample parking. The receptionists acknowledges you. Francisca at the front counter, was very personable and told us where to go. The nurse Teresa was really good too with our interaction. Took all of my vitals and never felt rushed. Do you remember the old days when you feel like you're not rushed and felt like a number? Well, this place comes close. I did wish I come here instead but we live close to the Long Beach location. If I get a chance to do it again, I would make the effort to come here...and visit Portos afterwards. read more

Unfortunately, things have turned bad. Apparently, you cannot schedule an appointment based on your availability well at least I can't. I have told Rena my availability over and over again and she keeps scheduling appointments without my knowledge which makes me have to cancel, but I really need therapy so what it looks like is that I am not coming for therapy. The last I checked you cannot be 2 places at the same time. Why is it so difficult? This is the only therapy office that does not schedule appointments right after your visit. I guess my overall health and therapy is a joke, or I I'm just not the right flavor!!! Rena was really nice in the beginning not sure what happen and why she now treats me the way she does. She is really talkative and chatty with the other patients but me it's hi and goodbye nothing else. I will be filing a formal complaint.
