Michael Brierton has been teaching drivers on the southside of Glasgow and East Renfrewshire for…read morewell over twenty years and he is an absolute pro. He's always on time, calm, thorough, and cheerful. He will put you at ease and will not be phased in the slightest if you do something scary like drive up on the curb (not that I ever did that...*cough*). "Just don't do that on the test" he'll say cheerfully and you keep on driving. When directing you to do something he speaks in the language of the examiners so on the day you'll be well used to their particular verbage. He is also extremely consistent with his directions, repeating the same things again and again until you are doing them automatically (for example, whenever you stop at a light, put on the handbrake and go into neutral. Instead of what I was doing before, which was siting on the biting point). Michael's lessons are good balance between learning safe driving and preparing for the test. He both explains what the test will be like as well as general rules of the road. Every time you do something incorrect he'll explain what you should have done in both contexts--general safety and the test. He teaches on his manual car, is available evenings and Saturdays and it's £10 for the first lesson and £23/hour after that. This is a bit more than you can get at some of the big driving schools, but I've consistently heard from people who got a cheapie instructor and they are always terrible--late, inattentive, and providing no input. Every lesson with Michael is instructive and leaves you slightly better at driving than the last. I would highly recommend him for anyone needing lessons in the southside/East Renfrewshire area.

Raz is an excellent instructor with incredible amounts of patience and a lot of experience. He never stopped encouraging and supporting me throughout my learning experience, and taught me not only how to pass my test, but also how to drive on any roads under any conditions and enjoy it. I've never had a class that I did not look forward to. I would strongly recommend Be Safe Driving School to anyone who is looking to learn how to drive or brush up on their skills. Especially, if you are a bit stressed out about it - Raz has an absolute talent to make people calm down, focus and get better! Emma

I want to give zero stars. This is the worst online experience my family has ever had. I have never…read morewritten a review in my life, but this online course is so awful I feel compelled to warn others. The program is buggy. It times out regularly without letting us resume from where we were, so we have to repeat the same chapter multiple times. The result is repeating hours and hours of progress. It asks for answers to security questions without showing a question, making it impossible to answer, and then you can't continue. This is crazy. It's 2021 and it feels like something from the 1980s. Do not take this course!!!!

BSM is primarily a business, and a driving school second. Or at least this is what I've found in my…read moreexperience. I had about 20 lessons with an instructor here, who was not only patronizing and infuriating, but took cigarette breaks halfway through every single two hour lesson (justifying it by getting me to stand in the cold and shiver next to him whilst he blew smoke in my face and explained a simple driving concept he had explained three times already). His most infuriating quality was his incompetence and idiocy, which I will with great delight give some examples of; In my first TWO hour lesson I wasn't allowed to turn the ignition key myself. When I had problems with steering a few lessons in, he felt compelled to speak to his head instructor about it, rather than put it down to the fact that I had no other practice time than in his car, and was a bit nervous. He was then astounded in the next lesson when I was steering fine. He referred only to his teaching manual (as in what he should have learnt to be a teacher) to explain theoretical aspects of driving, in order to read aloud out sections of it to me as a means of explanation, turning the book away from me when he realised I was reading ahead of him. Finally, and most infuriatingly of all, as we drove from place to place - always with him behind the wheel exclaiming loudly at other drivers - he would tell me proudly with a smug wide-eyed look, that to pass my test I'd have to be as good as him, clearly expecting great deference to his magnitude of driving skill. Idiot. So now I suppose the question is, why did I stick with it for so long? Sucked in by the student deal I bought lessons in pre-paid blocks... I realised later that BSM use many instructors in training, or just qualified instructors, and do not inform the pupil as to who'll you'll be getting for your money. Under this system, perhaps the instructor can be excused a little for his incompetence, but not BSM who hire such employees. Therefore, I advise anyone desiring to drive who does not relish wasting their money on learning from imbeciles to stay away from BSM. They care only for the money, don't get sucked in by offers.
