BSM is primarily a business, and a driving school second. Or at least this is what I've found in my experience.
I had about 20 lessons with an instructor here, who was not only patronizing and infuriating, but took cigarette breaks halfway through every single two hour lesson (justifying it by getting me to stand in the cold and shiver next to him whilst he blew smoke in my face and explained a simple driving concept he had explained three times already).
His most infuriating quality was his incompetence and idiocy, which I will with great delight give some examples of;
In my first TWO hour lesson I wasn't allowed to turn the ignition key myself. When I had problems with steering a few lessons in, he felt compelled to speak to his head instructor about it, rather than put it down to the fact that I had no other practice time than in his car, and was a bit nervous. He was then astounded in the next lesson when I was steering fine. He referred only to his teaching manual (as in what he should have learnt to be a teacher) to explain theoretical aspects of driving, in order to read aloud out sections of it to me as a means of explanation, turning the book away from me when he realised I was reading ahead of him. Finally, and most infuriatingly of all, as we drove from place to place - always with him behind the wheel exclaiming loudly at other drivers - he would tell me proudly with a smug wide-eyed look, that to pass my test I'd have to be as good as him, clearly expecting great deference to his magnitude of driving skill. Idiot.
So now I suppose the question is, why did I stick with it for so long? Sucked in by the student deal I bought lessons in pre-paid blocks...
I realised later that BSM use many instructors in training, or just qualified instructors, and do not inform the pupil as to who'll you'll be getting for your money. Under this system, perhaps the instructor can be excused a little for his incompetence, but not BSM who hire such employees. Therefore, I advise anyone desiring to drive who does not relish wasting their money on learning from imbeciles to stay away from BSM.
