All of the previous reviews are on point!! They are thieves. I was told that I was better to wait until the end of month, I can't break the billing cycle!!! We constantly had no internet, their equipment is meant to break a year later, when I asked for upgrade I was told there will be additional installation fees, really? And now when I'm leaving area they are pitching a free installation of new equipment. When called to resolve service interruptions was told there is no problems in my area! Really? If you are late with payment, during COVID, there is no break with late fees or any help at all!! BS company read more

Don't go with Optimum!!! They do NOT care about their customers even long time ones. I qualified for a program for assistance and every month called in to make sure it was good to go. Every time I called I was told that everything was good to go and will take 3 billing cycles before it kicks in. Okay fine. It was supposed to kick in this month so when I saw that it hadn't I called. They told me because there was a mistake on their end (they even admitted it was their fault) I would have to re-apply and wait up to another 3 months of billing cycle. I asked if they could help in any way, compensation, expedite the process or give me a discount until it kicks in as it was Optimums mistake. Nope! Wouldn't help me in any way other then making me re-apply! I've been with them for years and this was their mess up, but they still did not care and offered me no help! I even asked for someone higher up that I could speak to. I was told no, it's either IT or sales department and they have no control over accounts!! I highly suggest you Consider another company! Wish I could give zero stars! Looking into a new company now read more

Please do not go with Optimum!!! My monthly bills for 12 months are supposed to be $60.66 and after 5 months my monthly bill is now $222!!!! I keep calling customer service and they said I had a credit I wasn't supposed to have and that's why my bill is higher. Two representatives refused to transfer me to a manager and said there was no one else I could speak to. Horrible customer service, horrible company. read more

Have been a loyal member for so many years. But service was recently disconnected for no reason/no one from the company reached out before this happened & when inquiring after many transfers AND being disconnected there was not a single answer providing info as to why service was disconnect other than "there was a mix up in accounts and now someone else is using our acct & has service at another address". We have no idea if this other client of optimum has our personal information and if this will be addressed on optimums end. It is one thing to have service ended, it is another to have it ended and being told someone else is now the primary acct holder & with no idea who this individual is. With my partner being fully remote and not having the WiFi his whole day was washed - it took from 6:30a-2:30p to handle this. Andre is client service rep who did not seem to care that his company would likely be losing a loyal member. We will be switching to a new service for the same price with reliable and faster speeds for internet use. Do not use optimum, would never recommend. If I could, I would give optimum 0 stars. read more

The company increases their bill every 6 months or so without notice and without any reasoning. Because they have a stronghold on the service they provide--(a monopoly), they can charge whatever they want whenever they want. My bill was $179.00 per month which was a good price with which I was locked in at that price by contract for 2 years when I first signed up. But over time, it went all the way up to 3 hundred dollars. To boot, the $179.00 was guaranteed for 2 years and was never honored within that two year period. After 6 months it went to $190 and then $200 and then $210 and so on and so on all the way to $300. During that time I had to contact them and argue about it and they would drop the price again but not to $179. My bill right now is $242.00 per month. read more

God if you could ever 0 star a company. First tech came out and couldn't find a signal so blamed it on a 2 week old hurricane and left. There was no outage. He was just incompetent and dishonest but at least he showed up. 6 days later the next technician no showed. I have spent 8 hours of my life now waiting for optimum technicians. It should not be this difficult to become a customer. The appointments team and the technician team do not talk so there is zero customer service. All they can do is ask if you want to reschedule the appointment. Matter of fact, the call to reschedule happened before I knew the second appointment was not going to happen so that was a great way to find out the appointment wasn't happening. read more

I would give ZERO if possible. I've had Optimum for 2 years. I work from home 2-3 days per week and rely on fast download/upload speeds to send and receive large 100MB+ files. I pay for their highest download speeds possible, 400Mbps which translates to 330Mbps and uploads of half that speed. Over the past 6 months, they've been out here 3 times on site. Replaced the router, then another time to replace the modem, then another to replace the cable box and wires outside (which I requested they do the first time). Once all this was done, I finally was getting 300Mbps which was a godsend. Noticed recently a marked slow down on everything I was doing, including streaming shows. Working from home today and can't download a file. Checked speed and I'm getting 21.98Mbps download for the supposed 400Mbps that I pay for monthly. I'm so sick of getting less than 10% of what I PAY FOR on a regular basis. And when asked for a credit.....NOTHING. So tired of the monopoly of these sub-par cable providers. At this point, I'd even try FIOS, but alas they're not allowed in my area. Just give me what I pay for...is that too much to ask????????? UPDATE: even when I disconnect from my work VPN, which can also slow down speeds, I'm still only getting less than 25% of what I f'ing pay for. Currently at 71.69Mbps compared to the 400Mbps that I pay for every month. Sickening!! If I knew they wouldn't cut my service and/or damage my credit rating, I'd stop f'ing paying until they get their sorry a$$es out here to provide the service they charge me for FFS!!! So livid with this shitty service already!!!! read more

Since Altice acquired Optimum the service we are receiving is absolutely horrific. For several weeks we were missing channel 12 and even though we subscribe to Showtime many times we try to turn it on the message comes on to subscribe even though they are charging us for it In March they hiked they rates for TV & Internet by 30% each and than they pos credit for the increased the only reader it is they are padding their revenue to look better to theirs stocks holders is this even legal? When we call the billing department to ask for credit for the breakage in services due to the recent storm we were with out TV phone or Internet for 5 days, they said we received the credit and direct me to the line for the credit they pod for the price increase and round and round we go I am ready to call attorney general on them They are worst than the worst scammers read more

I think giving this company 1 star is misleading. It doesn't deserve .5 stars. Maybe the worst company servicing the greater Norwalk area in any facet of business. From the customer service, to the constant price gouging, to the unsatisfactory product(s) and services rendered. Just terrible. And you can't even get anyone on the phone to discuss anything. read more

Not sure what happened to Optimum... but, somewhere along the way they discontinued customer service. Seems to me that they're trying to get long-time customers to cancel and move to their competing Altice brand... which I have heard (from an Optimum tech) is a lesser service. Well, they got me to cancel by overcharging me and not resolving the issue... however, I am now cutting the cable and only using Optimum for internet (they have an effective monopoly for high speed internet where I live). I recommend choosing HULU over Optimum... they have live local channels and are much less expensive than Optimum. read more

The employees at this location are so rude. They treat you so bad and harass you like you are a potential enemy if you make a complain or give feedback. Do not get business with these people... Do not come to this store. Matter fact CLOSE IT or hire polite employees. They get upset if you have a question. I had an issue and the store manager did not even try to help me. She rudely asked me to leave the store. Of course that pissed me off. One of the employees was hiding his name tag because he said he did not feel comfortable. He was the only one out of 4 employees wearing a tag. His name is LUIS URENA. Such a rude and impolite employee. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible for the internet service I had with optimum. They get you in at a fair-ish entry price - $50 a month for their middle tier internet service. Then each year they raise the price 20% and the internet speed would be half. I ran 3rd party audits on internet speed that would come back "Your internet speed is very slow" despite paying for the upper-middle option. Trying to speak to a human being for support? Forget about it. I waited twice for over an hour each time, my girlfriend three times. When I did get a hold of someone, it was an overseas call center, who were very nice/polite, but couldn't actually do anything. You'll get the classic "Have you tried restarting your modem and turning it off for 10 seconds?" Lol yes 5 times before I waited an hour to talk to a human. Their chat bot support is no good either. It eventually just gives up and says thank you have a great day. It's 2020, how are you not going to have a chat bot that lets you schedule a time to speak with a representative?? read more

Be careful when offered an upgrade to 1gb from whatever speed you currently have. They don't tell you that you will be down of an hour after they switch boxes, which turned out to be all day, and although the technician calls the office to make sure the connection is running properly, the office personnel do not tell the tech that they rarely do it properly. Result is being off line for hours, which when running a business with remote employees is a waste of time. Nice offer to upgrade, but ability to execute on the transition earns them another 1 star. read more

This is the worst run company. After getting them to lower pricing on my account with no changes to service my DVR stopped working. Five phone calls later, multiple representatives and 2+ hours on the phone and the issue is still not resolved. Customer service people seem very distracted (handling more than one person at a time?) and are tough to understand (very thick accents). I had to ask 2 of the representatives to repeat what they said 2-3 times before I could understand what they were saying. Try and get a supervisor on the phone....impossible!!! Decades ago certain communications companies vied for government sanction within each of nine designated cable areas throughout Connecticut. Cablevision, now Optimum secured the lower southwest CT area. Once state and federal license is granted the exclusivity factor takes over and the provider has absolutely no competition. Since the early 2000's I have watched my monthly bill rise from $130 to $210 and within the "family package" Optimum is still allowing their providers to run the same movies over and over. And if you are a week late with your monthly payment you are threatened with service termination. I look forward to the day when digital technology allows full competition and programs are offered a la carte at very affordable prices. What this all proves once again is that only government can create a monopoly and make a bad situation for consumers. read more

I gave them 1 star because the system doesn't allow me to give 0 stars. In an age of bad customer service, this is the absolute worst. If you call, you initially get trapped in some robo system. So pissed off at you guys right now. I am paying for 200 mbps and getting 10 WiFi 20 hardwired.... what gives!? I'm using your equipment and have already replaced twice from your branch which I had to take off of work early to do this twice now since you guys don't cater hours to 9-5ers who commute from the city (which is probably the vast majority of your customers in Stamford). The worst part is that I switch to an optimum "hotspot" and have better speed.... how can this be possible!? The hotspot (which is free access to all and more than likely chews up the bandwidth that I pay for) is probably running off of my own router anyhow.... this is garbage. What can we do to fix this? No one has provided a solid resolution and no one has fixed it for months.... I feel like I should be refunded 90% of my bills since you are delivering, at tops, 10% of the speed you claim to provide. read more

When I called Optimum to disconnect my service the hold message stated they were trying to help people impacted by covid-19. As someone impacted by this, furloughed and forced to move out suddenly, they informed me that I was day too late to avoid being charged for an extra month of a service I can't use in a house I no longer have access to. To make matters worse at the end of this conversation the agent started pitching me on their mobile service - seriously??? I have coached and managed service recovery personally and this entire experience was a profoundly embarrassing failure at retention. Optimum has zero compassion for victims of the coronavirus pandemic. I will never use them again and would encourage anyone looking for services in Connecticut to look elsewhere. read more

If I could give negative 10 stars I would. Optimum is the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. If you have ANY other option, find it. I called to install fiber on Feb 26 and was told I'd get service the next day - Feb 27. It's now March 13. Optimum scheduled 5 appointments with 2-6 hour windows for installation and just didn't show up at all during the first 4. Didn't call to cancel - just didn't show up. Each time I called to complain, I spoke with a customer service rep in Mexico who had no idea who was doing the tech work and could only read from a script and reschedule for days in the future. You can only imagine how frustrating this was. When, on the 5th appointment, a technician showed up an hour after the window had closed, he told me that he could not do the install because the fiber hand't been pulled through from the pole to the building and that I had to start the entire set-up process over again. Now, five days after that I called to find out when that was happening and was told no one had scheduled the appointment and so now it's schedule in five days. I have never had a worse customer service experience with any company. Optimum is horrible and should be ashamed of itself as a company. Please end this disaster of a monopoly. read more

What a terrible company. Especially ALTICE. Do not believe one word they tell you. They will string you along. They send out know nothing techs. I have had Optimum for 8 years. At the time I had this company become my internet provider, they were always one digit off on my zipcode. Today, I called to see why my internet service was so slow, when I upgraded it a year ago. Every time I call, we get into a 15 minute conversation about the fact they have my zipcode wrong. Today, I thought I would try one more time. I was put on hold 3x, then they told me that if I change my zipcode, I would have to talk to customer service. Customer service told me, they would have to put in an order code, and it wouldn't be changed for 5 days, In the meantime, on hold again for another 2x while God Knows what they were doing. She came back to the phone and said they will call me in 5 days to let me know it is fixed. Keep in mind, it went from zipcode 60 to 61, the two last numbers. Then they had the audacity to ask me if I would be interested in switching my mobile service to them. I just hung up the phone after talking to, to a salesperson that put my on hold to get information from a manager, manager, then transferred to customer service. Good God, can the United States get their own cable company for southern ct, and stop with all of the out of the country owned businesses. Haven't we been taught enough with the recent covid. And why would I be billed the whole month when I returned their crappy equipment on the first day of the billing cycle. RUN! How come we have to give even 1 star? Ever since Altice got involved, this company plummeted. Tech is glitchy and there is no virtually no customer service. Even with covid, the level of service is horrific. They promised us a deal on triple play because we are a new customer. The bill was going to be $170 total--still a lot. Now it is $225 per month, and we can't call anyone to even disconnect. We go onto the site and it says contact a service rep. You call the service reps and they say go to the website. I will likely need to sue them for the months I have had to pay waiting to try and cancel. I did reach a terrible service rep who said to call back and ask for Sales 2 days later. But I never got though again. Lucky I even got that incapable idiot they somehow employ. And by the way--the Altice DVR service optimum now has is terrible. You can't even click pause while a live show is playing to pause it like you could 10 years ago with them. Their tech is going backwards! If something big happens, you have to hit the record button and go the record page and then set up a scheduled recording of the show now. So bad. I could live with everything else--but to not even be able to talk to a sales person about cancelling on the phone or even the website for 2 weeks now is ludicrous. I am not Frontier fan either, but even they have to better than this. Or rather, I guess it's time to cut the chord. Cable services all around are almost begging people to go without any cable service it seems. read more

I called optimum 30 times that day they gave me the runaround supervisor and all ! they stated finally a bucket truck was on the way never showed I called back at 6 pm to tell them it never showed up they said you are in luck and are going to have TV tonight I was so exited but they never showed up that night so that's twice in one day I was lied to . Day 2 30 phone calls again gave me the runaround again supervisor and all they don't care . Day 3 I was exhausted with all the lies I tried one last time and begged some one call me she promised me I will get a call from a supervisor no call .
