Is there anyway to get this company shut down? Optimum is awful, they have no idea what they are doing and they don't even try. Neither the folks on the phone not the tech's that show up at you r house have any idea of how to service , trouble shoot or address the issues . A customer service agent puprosely did not set up an appt to address a problem that 5 techs over the span of a year has not fixed. they are nasty to boot . We called to set up for a move and transfer our service. We had an appointment set and two days after that they were supposed to cancel our original plan. Instead, they cancelled our current plan FOUR DAYS EARLY, before we've even moved and before anyone came to set up the new one. So now we're stuck with no internet at all. We have told them on 4 different occasions that they have the wrong house number and they are acting as if we don't know what we are talking about and they keep telling us to call retention to reinstate our service. Also I've tried to downgrade my services several times and they really aren't trying to let me take off my movie channels knowing damn well no one watches their movies channels due to the extensive amount of outlets!! Now here's my recent issue, I pay for DVR and all of a sudden my DVR and on demand is no long working, I've called to try to fix it and the normal plug it out routine didn't work, so they sent a technician who apparently came to just chop down wires and make a mess and leave them for my dog to eat and my kids to step on , he told me it may be an external issue, so he was going to get the necessary ppl to come before he changed my boxes, I called optibum to try to see if I would be compensated for a service I'm paying for but can't use, the first asshole hates her job apparently and decides to hang up on me, the second one let me know that there's nothing they can do until the issues is closed oh mind you there's no record of what went on with the technician and what he said about the follow up...oh btw she let me know there's a balance on my bill though. the plot thickens... so after my bill going from 44 dollars a month to 169 dollars I knew something was wrong since I was price locked in for another 8 months at my current price. After hours I mean hours on the phone with retention department to sales to billing with promises of call backs from managers I am funnily told what happened... take a deep breath for this one. They outsource their call centers and somehow a man who works for OPTIMUM IN AFRICA decided to just upgrade my service from speed of 300 to 400 and take away my 80 a month discount. I am told he will be terminated but unfortunately I will still have to pay for the upgraded service I asked the supervisor if she was crazy and I let her know that this call was now being recorded and monitored by myself and she just admitted to someone in her company commiting fraud and she said she was sorry and there was nothing she would could due for me since I had terminated my service and would not refund me my money... not to worry I called my bank which someone In there retention department actually told me I should do since I was getting such a run around the lady at the bank actually laughed out loud the way the cable company treated me... not to worry the kicker of this story is everyone single friend I have told this to instantly switched to Verizon or spectrum... Optimum cable and internet are pretty good when they work, but, since Cablevision was acquired by Altice, if you need customer support, you are out of luck: chat function is with a robot, no email is available and phone takes more than an hour sometimes more than two. They keep raising their prices by supposedly removing promotions that you originally had and it's near impossible to get another promotion, but I also noticed that that depends on which rep you get. Most of whom have very thick accents so speaking to them is a difficult and stressful experience, even though they are being nice and friendly. I suppose they outsource their customer service. Trash of a business. The first time I scheduled an appointment they told me the window was from 2-5, various numbers called me, 2 personal and one from Connecticut telling they would come the guy never showed up, two days later same thing. The window was from 11am to 2pm, this guy shows up at around 4pm tries to install it and I was watching him the whole time. The guy didnt know what the hell he was doing, kept going outside to his van and up to the roof and I knew he was playing around...all that for him to tell me at around 450 "hey you're missing a cable but it's too windy outside so youre going to have to reschedule". I've NEVER had an issue with Optimum, until today. My bill went up $30 dollars, and I lost 3 or 4 channels in the process. I was not enrolled in any promotions and I didn't make a single account change. My bill does not include a definition of any kind regarding the hike in fees. Furthermore, I've been trying to reach Optimum since 8am -- I've dialed for a callback, even tried emailing, and using their live chat. I'm number 50 in line for a live chat, and I've been on hold for over 60 minutes. My return call back from 9:30 this morning has not been returned... its 1:14pm. + My bill went up 30$ ish dollars + Messaged the brand on Facebook and Twitter, got a robot reply with a broken link to a support page which doesn't exist. + Robot reply on phone sends you to Opt for business, not residential. + When you call their local support number, 4/10 tries, you get a weird voice in an unprofessional tone asking you to hang up and go online -- when you go online, you end up with a page that says to call -- and so the loop goes. + Their automated system doesn't accept 0, won't let you proceed without verifying your billing statement, and repeatedly tells you about starz and starz encore. + Takes roughly 15 mins to get through the tele-promt to ANY hold line for an operator. + I have 4 lines on hold, 2 of which for sales, the others to speak to ANY HUMAN. This is just awful! I've been a customer for over a decade, happy and content with my service... it seems that Altice is expert in shorting their customer service. If I do not have a response or a guarantee that my plan will be compensated or adjusted, I will be dropping Optimum all-together for Verizon by the end of the week -- this is just poor consumer loyalty. read more

Have a service call for today January 2,2022. Just received a call to verify the appointment. Could understand what the representative was saying language barrier very poor. Why doesn't Optimum have English speaking people for customers that live in America. I'm just about ready to cancel my service. Need to have upgrading on this issue.Most representative are either Spanish with very bad accents or Oriental with the same problem. Optimum should be more caring and conservative to their clients. I've had pixelated channels for years, dvr stops working randomly, and now had an increase on my monthly bill of $35 with no notification, all on top of the miserable customer service and repeated technicians who destroyed my house by trying to "fix old wiring" when I never approved the work. My favorite was the request for a payment extension that was approved, then ignored, and my service was cancelled anyway with a $45 reconnect fee added to my next bill. According to "customer service" the fee is assessed only after several days.... my calendar must be wrong then because my service was only out for 5 hours when I was finally able to connect to a human about the problem. Not even close to a full day, but still had to pay the reconnect fees! Channels repeatedly deleted from my line up, all the boxes and router/modem need to be rebooted at least once a week, as per CS and tech support, and requests to speak with a supervisor take 48 hours at a minimum... just switched to DirecTV since there were no other cable options, but CS there was incredibly helpful. Contacting the BBB, FCC, and AG, this company has gone so far downhill it's appalling. Hold on top your money and sanity, and find another provider fast!!! read more

Ridiculous customer service !! the worst I have ever dealt with. I have been a loyal costumer for over 20 year since the company was called cablevision. i have had the same plan and same boxes never had any issues. I stated working from home due to covid and my company rules. so I needed an extender of the internet to be able connect and work from home, after multiple calls to optimum I was told I would received the equipment faster if I went to the actual store and pick it up. I went to the store and spoke to a very nice window worker. she gave me the extender and stated that I'm paying to much for my package and she noticed that we don't really watch the HBO's we have. she suggested we change our package to take off the HBO and she tapped her fingers away. We left with our bill $30 dollars cheaper and the extender. when I got home was when the headache started. I connected everything shown on paper work and I didn't get any internet. I called there customer service line and I was transferred from department to department. after specking to about 10 people (Adam, Amid, Kyla and more names that I couldn't even spell) finally one women named Janel explained to me that my raotor was outdated and wasn't able to connect to the extender. so I then took my old equipment and new extender back to the store and they exchanged them for me for updated ones and that supposedly worked together. I came home and again I was not able to connect from my computer to work I was not able to go back to the store that day. The next day was Christmas and my parents decide to call my country like they do at every holiday and the phone wouldn't let them call and stated that there would be a charge for each minute. remember the beginning of my story I have had the same plan for over 20 years so I was pretty much grandfathered in with international calls. so again i try to call customer service and OMG !!!! my father goes to the optimum store to speck to eh same women who took care of us and she was not in that day. My father spoke with another women at the window and she proceeded to get smart with my father and stated " all good things must end" .I again called customer service and I have never yelled at so many customer service people before. I have worked customer service and would never ever do that to any of them . BUT THIS WAS TEH WORST !!!!! long story short its been 5 days and I still have no internet. I had an appointment for a tech to come out on Thursday at a cost of $80. I just received a call about 20 mins ago saying my appt was canceled. I asked to speck to a supervisor or manager I had enough. after yelling they transferred me to a useless supervisor who didn't want to give me his last name Raghes Kumer. I explained that I was going to loss my job over there incompetency and he pretty much told me I needed to call a different department. He supplied me with the phone number and hung up. THE ABSOLUTE WORST INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER EVER!! Stay clear away! I don't usually write reviews but my God, it's a crime to let anyone else experience the nightmare that is Optimum internet. Not only is the service unreliable and constantly having outages, their customer service is a torture test meant to drive you to the peak of extreme aggravation if you try to cancel the service. If you're like me and it's the only internet service provider in your area, don't make the mistake to sign up with them, just use your phone's data plan instead! After having had it up to my ears with constant outages affecting my ability to work from home and take zoom calls, I called their customer service to cancel my service - nightmare of an experience! It was like I was speaking another language, they kept insisting I should talk to a technician for help fixing my internet - I'm like - Dude, your service sucks and I've had it. Cancel my service! This is the kicker though - after what was an insane amount of useless back and forth with the rudest rep ever refusing to cancel my service, he finally acquiesced and tells me it's cancelled, google how to return the router and return it. A few days later I call back to confirm my service is cancelled and another rep tells me yup, all set just return the router. I return the router. A few days after, I receive a bill for service from Oct 21 - Nov 21. Mind you I cancelled the service on Oct 26, mailed back their router and Fedex shows it was received by Optimum on Nov 2, so pray tell how I'm being charged for service thru the 21st when I don't even have their stupid equipment to connect online??? How about you prorate for when I had the equipment? I reached out to ask them why and how are they legally allowed to charge me for a service they didn't deliver and it was another ridiculous exchange with another CS rep. If I could give negative stars, I would. Every call takes an average of 30 minutes or more. You will get transferred at least twice. You will be disconnected at least once. And if you are lucky the representative will ask to call you back because something is wrong with the system. Please note that if you are trying to cancel your account, all this will get magnified. They hope that you give up and they can charge for another day. We need more viable and reliable options that do not charge an arm and a leg for internet service. read more

We have to reboot it everytime we try to watch something on the dvr, half the shows are pixilated and the vouce control doesn't work on the remote. The remote itself doesn't work half the time, it literally takes me a half hour to restart and reboot everytime I try to watch anything, I curse altice everytime I turn this crap system on. Disconnected my service account and refused any way for me to return the equipment. The store clerk told me that the equipment couldn't be returned in person and must be mailed in. 4 days later, my account was disconnected, which meant that they canceled any and all access to printing a return label and charged me over $100 for the equipment. I then spent hours on a customer service chat (as my number was blocked for call aid because my account was disconnected without any warning/notification) trying to find a way to return the equipment and was told that my only option was to drive two states away to New Jersey to return. During covid-19 Pandemic, my TV some times have pictures and sometimes without pictures so I called optimum technology support and they told me that the signal has problems and they will send someone come by and check it. After they came and did nothing and told me that my TV have Problems and left. Optimum add $80 plus tax on my bill. Then I called their bill department, the clerk was so rude and just told me, you can cancel anytime but you have to pay this. WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. I would give 0 stars if I could. I was displaced due to the COVID pandemic. I suspended my services since I would not be in the same state for at least a month. Multiple representatives promised me that it was easy, it would be quick to turn back on, and my bill would be the same when I returned. They charge you to turn it off and it took me calling 4 times to turn it back on. Then they proceeded to charge me over $600 in two months because no representatives decided to write the correct notes after my calls. They clearly do not even know what happens when they turn off your services or else I would've never done it if they explained it correctly. I called over 30 times in a span of 2 months waited on hold close to 100 hours to try and get it resolved. I have screen shots of me on hold for 5 hours at a time just to "get transferred" aka get disconnected. They constantly told me a supervisor would be calling to help me. Then when a supervisor finally called me a month later he couldn't even help because no one wrote in the notes what they told me over the phone. The credit isn't even guaranteed after all of the trouble I've gone through they may not even help me when it was THEIR FAULT. Each representative had told me something different because they are incompetent and rude. I even went to a building IN PERSON who told me that I had to call again because they couldn't help me. Still not resolved two months later and they owe me a credit of at least $200. The only reason I am with them is because my apartment complex has a contract with them and I can't use another provider, I would NEVER recommend this company.
