I simply moved and closed our account at one former property and trying to have new service installed in our new home. Horrible experience. Optimum corporate leadership is asleep at the helm. I'm sure they must celebrate and pat each other on the back for such great marketing and perhaps their superior platform of Technology/Entertainment packages. What they don't know or care to know is their delivery of these services are deplorable. CT Attorney General Tong should conduct or request an eversource like inquiry since Optimum has a utility like monopoly on these services. Below are the issues: 1. Waited at my home 2pm to 8pm on Saturday July 1st for the installer that never showed up. 2. I tried unsuccessfully to message them with their celebrated customer service messaging system (I advise you never to use this service with them- complete waist of time) . 3. I tried calling to no avail. Essentially there was no way to determine if anyone was still coming to our house or not. 4. When someone finally called me after 8pm Saturday night they said the tech couldn't make it but would come by Sunday 11 -2pm. After this I received two calls from reps I could barely understand - I have to assume a customer service center in some foreign land- only for them to tell me we are sorry your tech missed your appointment and we are calling to reschedule you for next week- further aggravating the situation. I told them someone else called already and scheduled me for Sunday, apparently they had no clue that this was done. 5. Once the tech arrived there was nothing identifying him as a optimum tech - not on his vehicle or person. To his credit he was professional, knowledgeable, and very good at his trade. 6. A representative - Samantha - from the Norwalk CT dispatch office was most helpful in re-scheduling todays appointment and calling to make sure the tech arrived today. Optimum needs to create a service model that incorporates more people like her and make sure people like her are in contact with new or existing customers. The Optimum corporate team is obviously disconnected from what's taking place on the front line where services and customers meet. Customers across Fairfield County CT know this and are forced to put up with this because of this quasi monopoly on this essential inter utility. Once installed the technology is good, and when you are able to reach a live representative the customer support is good. But I'm absolutely flabbergasted how any firm can make such an investment in technology, but not into the delivery of a new service and maintenance of the existing customers. I can't wait for new competition in this space. I also encourage Attorney General William Tong to lead an inquiry into the practices Optimum and perhaps facilitate other cable providers in our region of Fairfield County CT. Our internet and telephone service have been out for nearly one month. We had an Optimum technician come to change a splitter and repair outdoor damage to cable. We were billed $80 for the service call, but lost our service within an hour of his leaving. I went to the Optimum store in Roslyn to get a new Arris cable modem in an effort to restore our service. The salesperson forgot to give me a sales slip with the QRS code needed for set up. I called the main number 516-364-8400 and was placed on a 40 minute hold. The only reason I remained on the line is that we need internet in our home for work. Out of all the companies I interact with, Optimum has the worst customer service of any. I live part of the year in Florida and part in New York. I am not crazy about either, but Xfinity from Comcast is extremely better than Optimum. Optimum service is non existent, while Xfinity answers the phone or chat in 2 or 3 minutes. I tried to call Optimum today and hung up after being on hold for over an hour. I think Optimum must've got tired of me calling. Before Tuesday, I was blazing their 1-800 number line every thirty minutes. They had already charged me for the appt so I wasn't planning to stop calling them anytime soon. I think my call must've gotten re-read to QA or something. I was definitely becoming a madwoman. I get a call from a tech early Tuesday morning, like around 6:45am. Depending on the day, I don't answer random calls but for some reasons, my inner voice told me to pick up. It was a tech who said he can come to my apt right now. Since I was still home, I told him "sure". He came around 7:20am and went to work. He hooked up my internet, got me registered and also made sure all my devices were on point and had no issues. So I'm happy Optimum decided to take me serious and provided me with a tech to set my stuff up right away. But it's unfortunate that I had to get this aggressive until they realized that I was kinda Looney tunes and they weren't getting off the hook until I got my internet or my money back. The past week I've had issues with Optimum. Got new boxes and the idiot who help me register my new modem, totally knocked out my phone. He never put it back on so I had no phone for a week. They had to send out 2 guys in 1 week and guess what? Their charging me for 1 of them to come out. When they caused the issue. 1 week later I'm still having issues with the Optimum website. I called today the guy reset my box and said the Optimum site wi find my network in 1 hour. Well here it is 6 hours later and still doesn't work. I'm so ticked off Optimum SUCKS. Unbelievably bad company. The customer service representatives are nice enough (the only positive thing I'm likely to say in my state of anger and disbelief), but unfortunately it is very obvious that they are lacking in familiarity with the product and simply reading off of a prepared chart, or a company handbook - something like that. Most of them speak very broken English, which in and of itself is fine - but it's difficult to understand the answers or communicate my problems well. Every time I call, I am offered a different solution to my issue. And NONE of them work. Literally none. I'm certain that most of the reps are trained to say something that sounds knowledgeable just to get rid of the immediate problem and "solve" the issue so they can move onto the next call. I recently had issues with my Altice One combo box after enabling Smart Home wifi. It was never very smart and didn't create one seamless network as promised. Can't reset it and start over, and they can't seem to fix it. I have two networks in my house, the main one and the main.ext - and I have to switch between them depending where I am in the house. I waited a couple of months, called again, and was told that the only solution is a wifi extender that they'd want to charge me for monthly. The Altice One minis no longer work as extensions (I guess obsolete in less than a year). I asked about the 1GB service and was told I need a new modem/router. Great! I can reset the network that way. I get the new modem, connect it, and there's a conflict with the old Altice One combo. The internet works, but I am unable to access the settings, create my own password, name it what I want, etc. I call, I'm told to return the old combo box to an Optimum store so that they could clear up the conflict, and then at that time I'd be able to access the settings on the internet. I returned the box, I come home, still nothing. I call again, and I'm told that the Ubee modem they sent me is terrible, and the rep is surprised that they would even send it. That I should change it out for something else. And that I am unable to access settings to open ports, change password, etc. I'm convinced that since Optimum is the only option in so many areas and that so many are leaving cable to stream tv that they honestly don't give a sh*t about getting things right. I am told something different every single time I call and my issues are almost never resolved. I'm not even the type to call customer service, I'm a DIY guy, but I've had to call Optimum at least 6 times in a year and a half. WORST. COMPANY. EVER. read more

What a lousy company! Where do I begin, Every one of their support and billing "care specialist" LIE. I have been a customer of Optimum (Cablevision) for over 50 years, and have never been treated like a Piece of Garbage, that they now treat me/us. In April, I upgraded to 1Gig service from 300Meg. From the day it was installed I have had many problems. First the Sales "Specialist" (and I use the term very lightly.) Said I had to also switch to the Altice mini's -(these are less than junk. worst TV box ever) that they were required for the 1Gg service. (I guess they get paid a commission for what the are able to sell to us poor suckers.) The minis replaced the TV boxes. After many complaints they finally replaced the minis and the Gateway.I now have the old Samsung boxes that I originally had. So now it was not required. Their Gateway provides Internet and Wi-Fi service. The Internet speed was supposed to be 1 Gig and the Wi-Fi always dropped, so I could not use the DVR+ that I am paying for or my laptop, table and cell phone for surfing.. After many calls they agreed to replace the mini's and the gateway. I am a professor teaching Computer Networking and Systems online and require high speed. I also for the last 20 years have had a network in my home and all devices were on Wi-Fi. Their system destroyed my Network. Their Gateway will not allow for the connection of any Access points, Extenders or additional routers. I ordered and paid for 1 Gig service and have never gotten more that 250 Meg on the new gateway, With my old system I ALWAYS had 300 Meg or more. Every time I call Optimum I get a runaround. Their phone systems states that the wait time is over 45 minutes. A Lie. Twice I had them call back and they either didn't or called back hours later. Now I wait on the phone and waste more time waiting, but at least I get to talk to someone who never tells the truth. On June 1 a senior field tech came to my home. After a hour of the tech running field test and replacing all the cable connecters, found that the problem was "The outside cable running to my apartment building. MUST be replaced. he stated "it should be one week but no more than two." He also stated "that they will notify me that service was going to be shutdown until the cable was replaced." Never received a call. WHY? Because it was never replaced. On June 16th I called again to find out the status of the repair and was told that they would send a technician to my home to repair the problem. I refused the tech and the dumb Tech "Specialist" said she would then escalate the problem. I have sent letters to Optimum corporate offices and never received any reply. Today June 19 at 2:53 PM I spoke to one of their tech "Specialist" Explained my problem, she kept me on hold for 20 minutes to reviewer my account and then hung up on me. Called back and at 3:10 PM spoke to another "Specialist" and she told me that the cable was replaced on June 16th, another lie. I seems that they close out problems if you refuse to have a tech come to your home. At 3:30 PM decided since Optimum is so bad with their equipment I called billing to have my "NEW" equipment removed and have the "OLD" 300 Meg gateway re-installed. At least I would have better connectivity than I have now. After speaking to a billing "Specialist" and explaining why I want to downgrade my account "Specialist" stated he couldn't help me and would transfer me to their tech support. It is now 4:20 PM and I am on hold waiting. At 4:25 PM I finally spoke to a tech "Specialist" to downgrade my service and have my old Gateway returned. after 8 minutes I was told she can't help me and that she would have to transfer to to sales. What a wasted company. Not only doesn't the right hand know what the left hand is doing, I don't think their brain does either. Optimum has a choke hold on its customers, In my area the only other company I can go to is FIOS and based on conversations with my neighbors they are worse that Optimum. God Bless the PSC in NY for allowing this robbery. And it is. If I could I would take all of their equipment and throw it out the window, but I won't. My next steps are the following. There are many ways that I can let people know how about how bad Optimum is, including letting everybody in my classes to know how bad Optimum is specially in their Customer Relationship. Other than that, unless you want to pay your bill with a credit card or upgrade your service, you will not get a person on the phone. Cant they afford more customer service people ? My experience over six months with Optimum was truly the worst. Don't make the same mistake. Frontier is now offering fiber internet in Fairfield County & you can bundle YouTube TV for less and better service. My issues with Optimum started on Day 1 as they failed to show up for the first installation appointment. After setting me up with coax cable/internet, they then no showed for three appointments to install fiber, which is technically a hybrid fiber (fiber from the street to the house, but coax within the house). On the third appointment no show, I spent the morning on the phone with customer service representatives who assured me a technician would be there for the first appointment window of the day. Five minutes after the end of my window, with no technicians in sight, I was told I would need to reschedule, and that it didn't matter that I was the first of three appointment windows. Once fiber was finally installed, Optimum changed my service plan without my consent from 500MB to 1GB. This then removed all of my promotional discounts including the $200 Visa pre-paid gift card. It took 10+ hours on the phone with countless employees in various departments to get my promotional discounts added back. One thing is clear about Optimum - the phone support staff operate independently of one another, and no one takes any responsibility. They will continue to pass you around and around until you give up. I also found the employees in the store to be equally unhelpful. The best they can do is "send an email". Over six months I requested to have a manager call me back approximately ten times and believe I received two total replies after 72-hour waiting periods. The straw that broke the camels back was the hardware Optimum requires fiber customers to pay for and use. The MyAltice branded router was incompatible with Eero & Sonos networks. The wonderful customer support team at Sonos helped identify the issue, which was a shadow wifi network being broadcast by the router despite being placed in Bridge mode by the Optimum team. Unfortunately, customers are not given full control of the hardware that they are required to use. So save your time, money and frustration and call Frontier. Now that there is competition for fiber providers in Fairfield County I cannot imagine why anyone would choose to deal with Optimum. read more

We were sent on a wild goose chase trying to swap our broken cable box. We are seniors and vulnerable to Covid-19. Haven't gone out much. Drove to Fairlawn. No swapping there. Finally found a place in Paterson but the line to get in was around the block. Went home. Was promised a new box would be sent to us. That should have been arranged for us at the outset. Have not received confirmation or tracking numbers or anything. We're not optimistic that we will receive a new box. read more

I called them because the box in my bedroom was not working. They troubleshot it and said the box was bad and needed replacement. This was Friday May 16. I asked them to mail a new one but the technician said because I have 6 boxes they couldn't mail it and because of Covid-19. He made an appointment for Monday . I asked him if that made sense to him?? On Monday a technician called me and told me that they are not making house calls and will not mail out a box!!! So they leave you without service until the lockdown is over Update: this went on until June 8. I needed to call almost every night to reset the box I replaced the broken box with. They finally sent a service tech on June 8 and he said they worked all along, in spite of Covid-19. I begged for 1 full month for service. Switching back to Verizon. read more

I don't leave a lot of reviews, but this is a must. If I could give 0 stars I would. The installation service is completely unreliable. We had a scheduled appointment 3 weeks in advance and when it came to the day of the installation, no one showed up. I called Optimum customer service and they were helpful in rescheduling the appointment for the next day and waiving the installation fee. Come the next day, no one shows up again. I call and find out that someone will be arriving 2-3 hours later than the scheduled window (8a-11a), but even that wasn't guaranteed. So, I briefly run out to go to the gym, and a technician shows up while I'm there - not within any window of time that they communicated. So, I missed the installation. Worst off, it's the only internet provider in my neighborhood in Brooklyn so there's not much incentive to do better that what you see here. If you do have a choice, choose another provider. If you don't, I'm sorry and good luck. read more

Anyone else wants to join the band-wagon to call the Better Business Bureau? My family started having Optimum from January 2019. We haven't been receiving any bills, and then we were past due. They kept saying every time we ask can they take the past fees away because we weren't getting the bills in the first place, so there was no way we know that it was past due. Their response was, "It's your responsibility to know when your bills are due, your the one suppose to be accountable." We are the victims because we have to pay for all these fees that we didn't know about, and you're blaming us for it. Ridiculous! We called 3 times since January, and we still haven't received any bills. The first time we called, they said they were sending the bills. The second time we called, they said they were sending the bills to the house that we used to live. I remember I said we moved, so what in the world makes you think we still want the bills to be delivered there? Another thing, you promised a bill will get sent next week after we call, well we still haven't receive it? My mom said we'll only pay if you send us a physical copy of the bill. The third time, they said we have the online account to pay it online, so we are still accountable for it. My parents are the ones who pay the bills, they like the old fashion way of doing things, and they don't understand English. We paid for the first late payment, but we won't be paying for the second one. Don't go with this internet company because they'll tell you the problem is you, not them. New to BK, and optimum is the only option in my building. didn't want to rent their modem, bought two myself after called custom service and confirmed they were compatible. However both two did not work. The second time called tech support and asked why it didn't work. In stead of explaining it to me, this lady yelled at me saying it didn't work, I didn't see your modem communicating or something like that. I requested to know why these two modems didn't work so I would know which one I should buy. She just kept repeating it didn't work, it didn't work in a very rude way. when I asked which modems would work, she could only give me two very old models.I request speaking with a supervisor, she responded no supervisors and she was the best one. After I insisted she put me on hold for 4-5 mins and told me informed supervisor I would be contacted. Of course I was not contacted. There is a policy whereby compensation for the technician late arrival is$25 but if the technician is late there is an $85 penalty that you pay. After speaking with the corporate department about this obvious value placed on "time wasting" I was told that it's an upper management decision and the reasoning is not available to the customers. What a disrespectful way to address an obvious wrong and I would encourage more people to stand up for the right to be treated fairly. Optimum cable are bullies. They over charged me $30, they keep on telling me it's taken care of, and it keeps on showing up on the bill. First they accused me of not calling them, so I spent an hour finding the right date. for the third time they told me was taken care of. From our setup technician leaving before we were properly connected and having to arrange for him to come back to re-connect, to having extra fees on our bill for services we did not sign up for, to awful connection speed despite being on a higher plan, to zero customer service support (it's a mess trying to get through to them on the phone - they require you to enter account number and a passcode we never created). Unfortunately the only option for high speed Internet service in the Truckee area. Here is what you can expect when dealing with this company. My 82 year old Father In-Law has had this level of service. Current Incident not resolved: Started on 8.12.22 - Paid his bill in person at the Truckee location on 8.12.22 - Location applied his payment to a different account - He received a past due bill and we called to resolve. - Provided Optimum customer service with all info showing he had paid, copy of cancel check etc and that Optimum had applied it to the wrong account. Optimum stated it would be corrected in 7-10 days. - On 9.7 his service was turned off. We called and spoke with Vector. Went over all the info again on check being applied to wrong account. He provided a Conf# and said it would be resolved in 7-10 days. They turned his service back on with an "Extension" - On 9.19 my Father received another bill for the amount he paid on 8.12, plus a current bill and LATE FEE. - On 9.22 his service was turned off again. - On 9.23 we called customer service again and went through all the same information for a third time. Customer service said they would submit and issue would be resolved in 7-10 days. Stating they cannot turn service back on because he already had an "Extension"....Now they want us to "FAX" a copy of the canceled check....yes FAX...hello 1982. I have asked for a supervisor 8 times...still have not been transferred. This company is pathetic! Their automated call must have been set-up by a child. It's useless. Connecting to a person is nearly impossible. They couldn't even set-up my account number or telephone number to be recognized. I haven't yet had service installed, although I've paid for it and I want to cancel it.
