This is primarily because my daughter loved going in here. Today was no different, I took my 7yr old daughter in. Almost immediately I noticed that they had a "Gaston" comic book which is a feature that focus' on Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. I so, ph that's cool and the guy behind the counter (the owner of the shop) stated that that Disney is doing a series on Villains. I thought that was an interesting perspective because a hunter protecting his town from a beast doesn't seem like a villain to me. Whoa, this guy got triggered. He became upset/irate and proceeded to tell me how wrong I am for having that perspective. The more I tried to engage him the more emotional and upset he became. He began to get so upset that became concerned about what my 7yr old daughter was witnessing. I stated that I was fine to have a conversation with him but I didn't appreciate being yelled at and talked over. He became more upset and I though it best to cut our shopping short and leave. On our way out, he thought it important to get the last word in and yelled "don't come back!" Well, my daughter became upset and cried her eyes out. The whole thing was traumatic for my kiddo and appalling for me. I can't imagine ever treating someone like he treated us, without any concern for my daughter and our business. I would suggest staying away from this place and the owner seems unstable.

Hubs found another "happy place" in SD County!…read more Knowhere G&C is located in an industrial area of San Marcos, near an antique mall, several home furnishings stores and next to San Marcos Deli. This seems an ideal location, with plenty of free parking and, judging by the flow of pedestrian traffic in and out of this shop on a "Comic Book Wednesday" many customers agree. Hubs declared a large selection of comics, games and collectibles. He proudly emerged over an hour after parking with a smile on his cute nerdy face and a bag filled with reading materials in his hand. He was very surprised and happy that his purchase amount ~$80TL awarded him with a cool graphic novel. Happiness shortly turned to a bit of confusion when he took a moment to peruse his receipt and discovered he had been charged about 4x the amount he should have been for a comic. He checked online to make sure he didn't grab a ltd edition, or special release, and determined he hadn't. I waited while he returned inside. About 10 minutes he reemerged - HAPPY AGAIN! Seems the clerk, Daniel (guessing from the receipt ), didn't catch it and agreed it had been incorrectly priced. He further apologized saying he usually catches the comics over $20 and confirms the customer is aware when they are purchasing a more expensive issue. So Daniel was sorry he missed that completely. Hubs confirmed that he was still ok receiving the free graphic novel and was assured, yes, his purchase amount still qualified for the free novel. The over charge was returned to Hubs and he was happy with the store, Daniel and his customer service. Knowhere G&C has been bookmarked for our future SD road trips. Cheers! "CC"

The focus appears to be comics and graphic novels. A lot of stores around end up being mostly collectibles, games, and comic memorabilia but do not offer as extensive collections of actual comics. So this store does not disappoint! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing they're missing is a store cat (something I've noticed lots of used bookstores seem to have).

Unfortunately this location has been a problem for quite a while. Every time I come here there's always something with the employees that so unprofessional. I get it, it's a comic book store in a mall, but the people that they have working here believe this is their personal hangout.. As for comic selection, this is basically a Marvel and DC shop. You'll have a tough time finding anything independent. - Completely inappropriate music playing sometimes. - When there's more than one person working they basically are loud and goofing off. - No active help from employees. You have to walk up to the counter and get a passive aggressive response. This isn't the Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop so stop acting like it is. - Various activist and virtue signaling posters. This is a business, not a Jr. college library. Are the owners aware of this? - This is multiple times, not just one "bad day". Owners- I like comics because of escapism. There needs to be more oversight / training at this location.

AUTOMATIC FIVE-STAR RATING! Okay, besides that, Now or Never is one of the few (if not only) comic book stores in Downtown San Diego. It's actually cleaner and more organized than the ones I frequent, but the relatively small size of the building means they don't have as much in stock as I'd like. Case in point, I wanted to show my appreciation for supporting SDCC by getting a couple of graphic novels of Trese and Usagi Yojimbo, but the ones I wanted weren't in stock. But, given how I was surprised to see a comic book store a few blocks away from the Convention Center, I can see myself probably checking it out again whenever I'm in the area.

What a fun little toy store!…read more It's hard shopping for toys in person these days when really the only options you have are Walmart and Target. I miss the days of Toys "R" Us. But this little toy store is a nice breath of fresh air. It's a smaller store, but it has lots of unique toys for all different ages. We came in here looking for a few small gifts for a school gift exchange and found lots of fun things. My son picked out a magnet toy and my daughter sound some watermelon pink slime. And our 2 year old found a wooden Thomas Train he didn't have. And surprisingly, they had Pokémon cards which my son appreciated. I hope they continue to carry sports and Pokémon cards because it's always fun taking my kids to pick out cards, rather than just buying online. The store manager was super sweet and helped. She explained their exchange policy if a Bruder toy broke and how they'd get the part for free for you. She was also open to suggestions of other toys to carry I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a toy, give them a shot. I'm sure you'll find something. Wow. New in the Promenade. Across from the Apple store…read more Cute specialty toy store in the promenade section of the mall. Great service and selection of toys for newborns to adults. This is a second location from Totally Thomas in Escondido. They do a great job here. Be sure to check them out.
