The focus appears to be comics and graphic novels. A lot of stores around end up being mostly collectibles, games, and comic memorabilia but do not offer as extensive collections of actual comics. So this store does not disappoint! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing they're missing is a store cat (something I've noticed lots of used bookstores seem to have).

Unfortunately this location has been a problem for quite a while. Every time I come here there's always something with the employees that so unprofessional. I get it, it's a comic book store in a mall, but the people that they have working here believe this is their personal hangout.. As for comic selection, this is basically a Marvel and DC shop. You'll have a tough time finding anything independent. - Completely inappropriate music playing sometimes. - When there's more than one person working they basically are loud and goofing off. - No active help from employees. You have to walk up to the counter and get a passive aggressive response. This isn't the Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop so stop acting like it is. - Various activist and virtue signaling posters. This is a business, not a Jr. college library. Are the owners aware of this? - This is multiple times, not just one "bad day". Owners- I like comics because of escapism. There needs to be more oversight / training at this location.

Date of visit: July 24, 2024…read more As part of Comic-Con 2024, Now Or Never Comics was participating in the festivities in two ways - by having a raffle for three CGC-rated books with purchase of the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles book... and a free pizza party. AUTOMATIC FIVE-STAR RATING! Okay, besides that, Now or Never is one of the few (if not only) comic book stores in Downtown San Diego. It's actually cleaner and more organized than the ones I frequent, but the relatively small size of the building means they don't have as much in stock as I'd like. Case in point, I wanted to show my appreciation for supporting SDCC by getting a couple of graphic novels of Trese and Usagi Yojimbo, but the ones I wanted weren't in stock. But, given how I was surprised to see a comic book store a few blocks away from the Convention Center, I can see myself probably checking it out again whenever I'm in the area.

Not only was this individual discouraging customers from joining the event but also was very negative about the product and this was while he was on the clock. His hygiene was also deplorable. I must admit I was skeptical about attending this event but after that experience I don't see how anyone would want to attend future events here. I will not be recommending this store to friends and I will most certainly not be returning ever again. I had only heard stories about these types of people online but seeing it in person really takes me out of it and never want to get into Magic the Gathering. I'll be trying other places that hopefully have a better staff.

They also have a dedicated area for people to play card games. The team running the store is friendly and helpful, and you can tell they care about the shop. I usually come in to browse their Pokémon singles, and I really like how organized their bulk cards are. The prices are affordable, and there's almost always a group of people there playing Magic or whatever game is featured that day.
