The only reason I gave it a star at all was because my 1st interaction was great. About a year ago (2023) I was called by Mischa to interview. She does direct hire and she thought she had a job that would fit for my experience. She was AMAZING!! She walked me through the process and kept in touch every step of the way. I didn't get the job but that was fine. *I got a call from her about a month ago asking if I was still looking. She didn't have anything for me but referred me to a co-worker named Antoinette. Antoinette had a job for me, and I went in to meet her before my interview. It was 2 hours before my interview, so she and I had time to chat. She told me that the company I was interviewing with had used her before and liked her so well that they were using her again to find someone for the position I now hold. She seemed pleasant enough and we had a nice chat. I said great and went to the interview. The interview went well, and I was basically told to start Monday at 8am. I texted her asking if there was anything else I needed to do since she was the recruiter. She said no and to remember my start time. *I went in as scheduled at 8am. After working for two hours, I asked the gal training me when I was going to fill out New Hire paperwork. She stated, "In about 90 days." WHAT??? *Apparently, Antoinette was not doing Direct Hire. She was doing Temp To Hire. I had not been told that, but it was fine. I don't mind. The company I'm working for is great and worth the wait. *The HR at the new company called Antoinette and she apologized, grabbed her tablet, and came over to the office to have me fill out paperwork. Mind you, there were no physical copies. Everything was on the tablet. *I asked her what a few of the forms meant, she said she didn't know. So I muddled through. I asked her to send me the log in information for their site, knowing I would be doing timesheets online. She said she would send it upon return to her office. I didn't realize at the time that the site I did the paperwork on was the same one. I gave her a copy of my ODL and texted her my SS Card from home that evening because I didn't bring it to work. I tried multiple times that Monday to log in and the system would automatically kick me to the Forms area. I messaged her and she replied after a few times to tell me I needed to wait until Wednesday because it took time to process paperwork...you know...non paper paperwork. *So, I waited. Wednesday comes and it still wasn't working. I message again and she said she would look into it. She had no idea what the issue was. I spoke to the controller at the employer, and she said to create a timesheet that we would send it Friday if it still didn't work.... It STILL didn't work. I got no information from Antoinette, so I emailed in the approved timesheet to both Antoinette and Mischa. Mischa was because I knew something would get done if I gave it to her. I was right. Mischa called and email right away letting me know that Antoinette would get back to me. *Antoinette AGAIN said she had no idea why the system wouldn't let me do a timesheet. *Monday I get a text from Ashely. She told me I hadn't filled out a form they needed. And it had to be done today so they could do payroll. And they also needed my ID. I told her I filled out everything they had listed on the website and Antoinette had copies of my ID. She stated they had lost an admin and that one hadn't been assigned to me that needed to be filled out. She assigned it to my profile, and I filled out and submitted the form. She stated she would get my ID from Antoinette. *Then I get a text Tuesday. Now I apparently filled out two different insurance forms and I needed to decide which one I wanted. I called her and told her which one. *I get a call from Antoinette this same Tuesday and we discuss payment. She stated that this coming Friday the 24th that I would be getting paid for two weeks. I said, "You are paying me for last week and this week on Friday and my timesheet isn't due until Sunday? No, that's wrong." She said that was what she was told. I just said No. She then said she would email me a schedule for pay. *Molly called me the following day to say she knew there were a few "hiccups" in the process. Those weren't hiccups, they were vomit. I told her that I was not told anything. She said, "We pay our people". She was a bit defensive. There was no need for that. Just admit that your company messed up and let's move on. But that wasn't happening. I said that I knew I would eventually get paid and basically ended the call. *I then went into the Companies HR manager. She had spoken to Molly too. Molly told her how it was all my fault, and I did everything wrong. I filled out the paperwork wrong. I was told it was temp to hire. She tried to lie and state that she had proof. Well, so do I. She said Antoinette had NO IDEA I COULDN"T LOG ON!! *So many lies, not enough room here. NEVER USE THEM!! read more

Once upon a time (May 1, 2009 to be exact), I was wiping down the bar at my second job, when I decided I was tired of working at Broadway Toyota. So I gave my resignation speech about an hour later. I thought for some reason that the amount of job openings would be increasing. Not sure why, but that was just the train of thought in Chuck's World that day. And I was sick and tired of working EVERY weekend for a damn-near min. wage job. Needless to say, I've been without full time work since May 1, 2009. And I've been furiously sending my job Resume out online many times a week. Opti Staffing caught a hold of my Resume a few months ago via Craigslist. They tried very well to get me a job with a trucking company, unfortunately a bad reference from an old, worthless, piece-of-dog-shit boss prevented that. My Resume was passed on to the Lake Oswego location. Long story short, they found me a job, but failed to mention I needed certain equipment to do the job. Upon showing up the that job site, I was turned away for not having proper safety equipment. Today, I had an interview for what was to be a warehouse/delivery position for an excersize machine distrubtor. What got left out this time: A) It was a warehouse/delivery position that also required setting up the equipment itself B) It required heavy lifting. Lifting things that weigh 100 lbs. more than I do. These guys are a let-down like the 2008 Chicago Cubs: have a great start to the process, then manage to blow it right before you can get your hands on the prize. The last two experiences have been really frustrating to say the least. Is it a code of conduct for these job recruiters to leave out certain duties and aspects of the job? Sure seems like it. Seems the experiences are similar across the board : Extremely polite and energetic staff, then oddly long interview/paperwork process, then nothing. I was contacted by one of the staff members (whose name now escapes me), who claimed to have found my resume on Monster, yet he "couldn't find it" while on the phone with him. I smelled info culling, so expressed that I'd prefer to bring it in with me to the interview. This was after his nearly daily hounding me to contact them after I'd already left a message stating that I wasn't available due to being on another assignment. He set the meeting for the late afternoon, and I expressed concern with this as I would be driving in from Beaverton during rush-hour. He refused to change the time, without expressing why. I went in anyway, and was astonished at the years-long paperwork and interview process (this was without any tests. Other agencies I've worked with successfully complete the needed process in half the time!), and while I arrived in suit and tie, every. Other. Potential Client. arrived looking like they were living on the streets. The interview was long but little was discussed RE my experience etc. he seemed more interested with the assignment I was currently on, who I was working for, etc. He repeatedly assured me that he had two potential positions, and that I'd hear about an interview at one or the other within a day or so. That was nearly 6 months ago. I've gone on to other successful options, and have never looked back. read more

Bait and Switch. I had been contacted by this firm to recruit me for a specific position; the recruiter left a message on Monday. I called back on Tuesday, and they said, "Oh, the job was just filled! but we'd love for you to come in for an interview with our team." I'm a senior-level professional; I don't know of any job at my level that is advertised, actively recruited for and filled within 24 hours. I agreed to the interview but then gave it some thought realizing that likely nothing would materialize from it, so I cancelled prior to the scheduled meeting. read more

To start my review I'll give a hint of background... I was searching for a better job online after a layoff. I'm not a fan of temporary work or hiring agencies. I spent a few years when I was fresh into adulthood working through a few of them, and misleading information was a normal practice. That gives you pause when you don't realize that you are being misled till you start a new job. Fast forward to now, and I was laid off from a good job due to economic changes in the workforce. I applied for probably 20 jobs in a week, and one of my applications led me to Opti. I was hesitant to even consider applying for a job through another staffing agency, but I also knew that I had to stay consistent with my work search or my unemployment could be cancelled. I read through the paperwork and didn't see anything particularly surprising so I filled it out, and waited to be interviewed. My job handler was David Dempsey. He was polite, and very professional about his demeanor. I sat down with him and expressed my general concerns about working through an agency and he assured me that the job I applied for was a hire on job with a 90 day term through the agency. I was set up with an interview with the employer that the online job listing referenced, and was surprised at the opportunity being genuine and true. I had an excellent interview with the employer and began working there for the 90 day term. I ended up going through some training which allowed me to travel to several states including South Carolina, and California. After working through the 90 days I was hired on at the company I work for now. Throughout the process David kept contact to see how the job opportunity was going, and whether it felt like a good fit for work. My experience has been great in dealing with Opti Staffing, and this isn't a form or a paid review. I am being sincere as I work for a outside service company in the SE Portland area. Some experiences can be better than others, and I read the reviews on here before deciding to post mine, and I can tell you, 90% of any experience is really what you make of the experience yourself. You decide how things are ultimately going to go. If there is an opportunity waiting, take advantage of it. This agency is just a connection point for a possible future. So never let someones bad experiences completely drive your expectations into the ground before you even have a chance to try. read more

I tried job hunting on my own when I first got to portland in august 2014. Opti got my resume via craigslist and I spoke with Greg. I brought in my resume, had a great interview! Greg was personable, very capable and excited about my experience. He was also very realistic. He told me the goal was to place me in a temp to perm position within 90 days. He wanted me to find something that would fit my needs. So as my needs changed, I stayed in touch with Greg. I would contact him (email and phone) and let him know what the news was on my job search, who I had interviewed with outside of opti, any offers I received and he kept me in the loop with his clients that were about to open season on hiring. Late August, I was getting desperate to get work... I changed my hiring wage with Greg and the interviews started rolling in. He placed me at a great company, Rentrak. I was on track to get hired full time when my other part time job gave me a promotion and I had to terminate my contract with Rentrak and Opti Staffing early in order to accept. I let Greg know when I was given the promotional offer. He acted as liason to see if the company would like to buy out my contract and hire me earlier. Unfortunately, that is usually a shot in the dark. But he took it for me anyway. The company he placed me with has AMAZING benefits, a wonderful work environment. I asked for minimal to no phone work - since my last job was a nightmare. Greg listened to every single need and it was a GREAT fit. I just accepted an abnormally long temp contract. I have been SO satisfied with my experience at Opti Staffing and with Greg Spunt in particular. If I ever need to change up the employment situation again... I know where I'm going. read more

Kendra Reed knew what was best for me, before I even knew! While at my previous company, I had been lightly considering moving on to a new venture after 10 years, but did not know where to start. I had an idea of the type of position I wanted to move toward, but had no idea what kind of company I could possibly step into. Before I even began the daunting task of searching for new work, Kendra had miraculously found me on LinkdIn, and immediately knew I would be a good candidate for a company she was working with, based on my background. We then met, and Kendra was easy to converse with, as well as, she understood my needs/wants in the next step of my career. It quickly became apparent that the position at hand, would be suitable for both parties. I have been in my new position and company, for a few weeks, now, and absolutely LOVE my new job. I couldn't have found a better place that fits my personality and my background, as well as this one does. Kendra did a fantastic job at representing me, and with myself being out of the job market search for so long, she was a great coach before, and during the interview process. She was always very uplifting and encouraging. I am still amazed on how well everything worked out, not only with the position, alone, but with timing! Everything went so smooth and I felt secure having Kendra and Opti Staffing representing me from start to finish. So unprofessional. I have been working with this agency off and on for about a year and was given a new recruiter by the name of Megan. I am so fed up with this company after having to work with her. I have been submitted for jobs by Megan only to have her NOT get back to me in a timely manner after finding out the company decided to not use me, or changed their mind about the role. This has happened now 4 times. Each time I get an apology but nothing changes in her diligence in getting back to me. If the roles were reversed, as a candidate I would be barred from working with them if I just didn't show up to an assignment or didn't call in. How many times does a recruiter get to make this mistake? Lastly, I was told to go to a 9am interview for IMR test labs, only to get there and find out it was actually at 12. Then asked to wait around for 3 hours, come back or reschedule. I as a job seeking candidate am not obligated to just be at anyones beck and call over and over and I surely deserve better treatment from a recruiter, company and business. The branch manager, Gabriel, supposedly took over as my recruiter but can you guess how many times I have spoken to him about a job? Take a guess between 0-1. Do NOT use this company or have Megan as your recruiter, unless you already have time to waste or want to be blackballed by the company because their own staff is too inept to place you on assignments. read more

I used their service, the one by PDX airport. Very promising sales pitch with an hour's worth of paperwork and registration. Then I had a great interview and the interviewer said lots of companies would be interested. Well, I haven't heard hardly a thing from them since. A very generic Email or two. I think a lot of these temp agencies are a scam and get everyone they can to come in just to keep the companies that use their service satisfied with their quota, while having little intention of finding you a job quickly. Unless, of course you're willing to work for less than half you once made before while being grossly overqualified for the position. I will give it to them that their employees are polite and positive. But, if my job did not have to show much in the way of results, and I didn't have a set of ethics, I'd be cheery all the time, too. read more

My journey with TERRA started with responding to an ad on Craigslist for a Recruitment Coordinator position in September of 2015. Elysse and Lynz who helped me get on with WL May Co decided to withhold what was REALLY going on with one of the "careers" they had for me to choose from. BOTH OF THEM held vital information back to protect WL May Co and not me. Which is crazy backwards from the philosophy the girls over at Opti Staffing sell you on. They knew I needed a career and not a job and they let me choose a company knowing there was a high turn over rate and a bizarre, weird decision making process in effect by the vice president of WL May Co. To top it off? I get a voice mail from a blocked number on Saturday telling me that I was no longer going to be working with WL MAY CO and that we would all "touch base" first thing Monday morning. Guess what though???? I never received a call on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Nope! I had to call today! Question... why is a recruiting company so scared to call me if you are "a support to the career finder" and not the client? Where is this support they sell you when looking for a career? Why are they up and ditching you during an important road block in your career hunt? I will tell you why... They are not here for you or anyone looking for a job. They only care about their clients and their commission checks. When I got Lynz on the phone btw??? No support at all, just an ear that wants off the phone who has no idea what is going on with WL May Co but she "totally understands". No support for me, not upset with the disgusting client but totally wanting off the phone. When I asked about other jobs??.. No other jobs to look at, just a goodbye attitude. Lynz and Elysse are not on your side at opti. They are sales people dressed as recruiters and FOR ONCE!!! I thought I could trust a recruiting company. read more

I applied to a position posted online and was called within an hour of sending in my resume by Kendra. I had an interview that same day. She was very positive and enthusiastic. She sent my resume onto the position that I had initially applied to, but they put a pause on interviewing, so she sent my on to another client. I interviewed immediately and was offered the position. If I had not found another job closer to home at the same time, I would have happily accepted it as the work and the pay was exactly what I was looking for. They are the best temp/staffing agency I have had the pleasure to work with. Kendra was great. She helped me prepare for interviews and made sure my concerns were addressed. I had been out of work going on three months and was feeling rather discouraged. Having recently relocated to the area, I was surprised to see how competitive the local job market was. Having a somewhat specialized skill set, I had applied for a large number of positions through Indeed.com without success. My resume was then picked up by Opti Staffing and I received a phone call to come in and talk, so I scheduled an appointment to explore possible avenues. I originally responded to a job ad for production. I created a nice cover letter and submitted it with my resume. Then Terra Staffing Group called me up and started asking me to repeat the information on my resume. Then they asked me to come in for an interview. That interview was just an intake meeting, in which they copied my social security card and identification. They had me fill out a new job application. Then they had me sign a w-4. They asked me to take some tests and then just left me alone in the lobby while they talked to newer recruits. I was then sent a text message for one job available, and it was graveyard, the one shift I asked to avoid. Needing money, I accepted it. I then had to attend a safety meeting in which they asked us repeatedly, do you have any pain at all doing this task? I have no doubt if I did, I wouldn't have been given the assignment. I then worked two graveyards for a company, and made lunch with the last of my food. It has been a week now, and when I asked to receive my pay, they said I needed to come back into the office which is across town, to fill out more paperwork to receive a card, that will be loaded with the money in three days. However if I didn't make it into their office before Wednesday at 5, I would have to wait a whole extra week to get the process started. At which point I would have to wait 5 days to have the card loaded with the money I earned weeks ago. I implore you, avoid this company. They will take advantage of you. read more
