I hate this staff so much! I used this eye doctor since i was young & they were regular. They used to call my home a few days before my acutal appointment, but now they don't even do that! They said my insurance was expired until december and they didnt call in advance to inform us on that. I went all the way there just for them to say that when that whole entire situation could have been prevented by a simple call . I waited after december, and i made an appointment but the first date they lady on the phone gave me wasn't fit into my schedule. I called back change it. I came in today & the lady at the desk said my appointment was the original date and they was "no record" of me changing the appointment date. This had happened twice already & it's so irritating. A side from the idiotic staff the eye doctor is so friendly & nice! They need to change that staff ASAP! read more

Even though I pointed out the start of an eye infection Dr Schubel said it was nothing. Ironically that same eye showed signs of needing a stronger prescription than it had previously so I ordered new lens. The next day I went to urgent care for my eye and was prescribed medication. I canceled my lens order and will be going to another eye care facility in the future. read more

Has a very short-sighted policy to not give their patients their PD for use outside of their facility. I had a very specific pair of glasses that I wanted and they did not have them, nor would they have been able to match the price as there was a sale. I will not go back. Because they were greedy and short-sighted, they lost 2 patients and I took back the referral I had made to a 3rd person. My husband doesn't need glasses, but myself and the other lady do, so they lost potential for future frame purchases by myself and the person I referred, and they lost 3 annual exams. Horrible Professionalism Manager doesn't know how to fit glasses or Adjust them Properly (Sam) over sells unnecessary upgrades you don't need Folks!!! I was being ripped off for years saved hundreds of dollars at Costco got fitted properly first time in five minutes I was done. This review is for the Freehold location. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Johnston for a few years now and he's knowledgeable and very nice. I finally made the switch to daily contact lenses and I'm so happy he helped me find a great product to try. He also helped my husband find the right contact lenses for his astigmatism when other doctors put him in less comfortable products. The staff in this location has been helpful and friendly. I always need to ask for itemized receipts for my FSA card, and they are happy to print them out for me when I am there. The only reason I selected four stars instead of five is because I wish they would offer delivery of contact lenses straight to your home/office.. it would be a nice convenience. As for those reviews mentioning mark-ups on frames.. this is a BUSINESS! They have to make a profit to survive. When you purchase from them, you are supporting the community, a small business and families.. not some mass internet provider! Horrible service!!!! Told me glasses would take 5 days to order and 3 weeks later still not in and they keep stating "it's in the lab!" I am a sailor and needed them before I set sail and they fully understood that and said it wasn't a problem to have them in time. Well after an hour of arguing I finally got a refund with not so much as an "I'm sorry". The manager Sam was a complete useless A**hole! when he told me to come into the store to meet with him he goes to lunch and made me have to comeback to discuss my glasses. I had a different experience than the first review. Front desk was very nice, on time, exam short and sweet. After passing on purchasing contacts from them, they are the same price as online vendors. I recently had an eye infection, was able to get an appointment same day. Again exam was quick, medication given, also fixed my glasses at no charge. Give these folks a try, good people in my book. read more

I have been going to this doctor for over 5 years, and I've only had positive experiences! The front desk is always very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Horrible! My son picked out a pair of frames and left the information, they couldn't find the what he picked out a few days later. I had an exam last year for progressive lenses and was having difficulty seeing close all year, only to find out that the lenses never had the progression. read more

Horrible Horrible experience after years of doing business with them. First, I would like to say that the phone call that I recieved from them was very uprofessional. Basically the optometrist received a payment for my account and took it upon himself to order new glasses. So when they called me to say bring my son glasses in, I stated that, me the customer did not ask for them to order glasses and can you place the money on my account. His reply was "you are making me lose money." I said no, if you would have contacted the customer, there wouldnt be any issues. My family and I had our annual appointment, we get there and they said they dropped us as customers and dont have to deal with us. No one called to say we are not longer serving you, they waited til I got there with my kids. Im only upset because in no way am a nasty person or really dont speak nasty to people but you would think that i wasnt even a customer of theres. Everything that looks good on the outside is not always good in the inside. Think twice. read more

The dr was very nice. When I had my visit the staff was really nice but when I called and had a question one of the employees Sharron was very rude telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about accusing me of being a liar. So I went in to the business and showed her that I was right and her rude self was incorrect. I was told there was no reason for me to come there and that it was a waste of time. But I'm not going to let someone tell me what I should and shouldn't do. I had spoken to other employees and they were very polite but Sharron was not. read more

I had an awful experience at this eye care center. I was kept waiting for over an hour to see the optometrist and I felt that this person did not demonstrate professional behavior befitting of an eye professional. The glasses that I received were marked up to more than double of what they were selling for online. Bottom line I would not recommend this eyecare center to anyone I know. read more

Watch out! They charge for services not provided (and get away with it). I politely inquired at the office, the receptionist became irritated and cancelled 2 prescriptions without my permission. My wife had a visit scheduled, again without notice they cancelled her appointment, and refuse to see any family member. Must be their way of covering unethical practice. Brian L read more

I had returned glasses in 2014 when I bought glasses in opsin in freehold.. they promised me Dunn glasses with my prescription, I picked them up and they were not even blocking the sun.. I had returned them mind you they were like wearing regular glasses. But I doesn't need here!! I went in 2014, I went back July 26 th 2015.. I had wanted to purchase glasses from there , and to find that I was band from there because u had returned glasses that weren't was I was happy with!! The woman told me I could never get glasses from them ever again and , she told me to call SAm Camino . I spoke to him and he remembered me mind you , Like he had a vendetta against me.. I asked him if he can forgive me from 2014 about my 359.00 glasses. He told me he remembered me and he wouldn't sell me glasses because I returned those glasses back!! I have to say what store bands you from buying glasses! I was promised sun glasses with my prescription and if I tell you they were barley dark!! So SAm Cimino was very adamant about this , he actually remembered me from 2014, who dies this!! He definitely had it out for me! Especially a big chain like this!! Horrible person and and a person who seeks vengeance!! There's other places than opsin eye care to go to! He's not a nice person especially remembering me lol.. that's a little sick!! Sam Cimino is tie type of person who don't care about your eyes he remembers more if he makes money!! I personally will tell a lot of people about him and how he had it out for me because my glasses were not dark and I was unhappy, I thought businesses were supposed to make you happy! I went there a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Wait time was pretty normal. Front desk staff was pleasant. The dr I saw was very friendly and patient. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions with a lot of patience. I would definitely recommend him and in fact already have to a few friends. read more

I was a previous patient of Dr. McAleese when he was with Walmart and have to say I am so glad that I re-discovered him at Opsin Eye Care. My experience to date has been extremely favorable and enjoy always enjoy my time in the office. All of the staff I've encountered are knowledgeable, patient and lively when it comes to in-take all the way down to fitting my glasses properly. I've even been able to get a same-day appointment when I had some issues due to allergies. One shining moment I'll always appreciate is when I was doing my 50 minute commute from work to pick-up my lenses prior to closing. I called the staff and let them know I was about 10 minutes away and they waited for me to arrive, even though I managed to get there before closing. It's things like these that make me grateful to have an optometry practice that I won't want to switch from. There selection of stylish frames also makes them a keeper too. read more
