Happy with the visit here. I had to take one of my clients here after he broke his glasses. I spoke to the the receptionist who was friendly and she asked the optometrist what could be done. Unfortunately the arm on the glasses was a clean break and would need to be replaced. He did however patch them temporarily at no cost, so they could be worn with the advice that they be replaced as soon as possible. I appreciate the friendly service, the accommodation and speed of repair for my client. The office is very clean with complimentary coffee and lolli's for the kiddies (or us grown-ups). I didn't see everything but it's a nice sized parking lot, and clean, professional looking office with many frames on display. They're even energy conscious with solar panels on the roof. If you have ay vision needs I'd say giving them a call. read more

The exams through .Many offices do not go into.depth like Dr Phibbs does.Great selection of Eyewear and opt for the digital exam.These exams will detect any problems and it will be addressed.. They eye wear reasonable.and prescription automatically loaded in machine for accurate clarity. They don't spend all this time toying lenses the state of the art equipment does it already.. read more

Returning customer after I lost a lens from my glasses. Walked in from the entrance to two women working the front desk. One on the phone the other having a long conversation with someone she obviously knew well. The person she was speaking with saw me waiting and moved over to make room however the woman continues conversing with him as I waited. My presence was never acknowledged. Eventually the woman on the phone asked " are you here for something?" -at which time I was pointed in the right direction. I spent quite a few $ on my first glasses but decided to go elsewhere. These are customer service reliant businesses in competition with large chains with greater selection. If they can't offer good customer service why bother? I went to Shore Family Eye Care in Manasquan after leaving and had an entirely different experience. My wife and I were loyal patients of this practice for over 10 years. Prior to my retirement, while I had eye care insurance, the quality and integrity of their service was very good. Once I retired and switched over to Medicare, everything dramatically changed for the worse. Sadly, the cost for glasses increased significantly and, without my prior approval, my lenses were converted to the progressive type which were billed at an unreasonable and non-competitive rate of $650 per pair. When I visited the office to air my concerns, I was rudely treated by one of their opticians/technicians (Norman) who I had always thought was competent and professional. He actually raised his voice to me in a rude manner and refused to adjust my recently purchased overpriced frames. I called the practice's owner, optometrist Dr. Sean Patrick Phibbs but never heard back. This is very simply a sham and this business should be avoided! read more

Suddenly last year I started having serious issues with my eyes. I went to another optometrist and never was able to figure out or resolve the problems. I saw Dr. Phibbs based on a recommendation and it was the best choice I ever made. The first appointment I was given a proper diagnosis and in no time I was back in my contacts. His staff is very accommodating and courteous. I have had no issues with their pricing scale. I did read another review complaining of pricing when it came to glasses. I would keep in mind you aren't dealing with a franchise who buys in bulk. More recently, I wanted to have Lasik surgery. I went for the consult with the surgeon and back to Dr. Phibbs for pre-op testing. Dr. Phibbs was reluctant to send me for the Lasik and asked me to wait 3 additional months to ensure my eyes were not going to change again. I love the one on one care. I love Dr. Phibbs and his staff know who I am when I call and come through the door. I would highly recommend Emerald Eyes! read more

I've been going to Emerald Eyes for several years for my annual eye exam and contacts, it's a great office and the staff is always so friendly. Last week my eye was in a lot of pain so on Friday they squeezed me in for an appt. Turns out I have a corneal ulcer which is very painful and needs to be treated early on so thank God they got me in right away! This morning it was hurting a lot again so the dr came into the office on his day off. Thank you Dr. Phibb!! Highly recommend this office if you need an eye doctor!! read more

The low rate is for the optician who was rude and not helpful at all when I asked him to check the script in glasses I purchased online. He said there are issues with online purchases. I asked if he did not care about customers and he said he still would not do it. They prefer I purchased from them. I said they were to expensive. How rude! This is our first visit to Emerald Eyes. The office is really nice and the girls are very friendly. Jodie is so sweet and funny and made you feel like family. They have a big selection of glasses. We're glad we found Dr Phibbs and Emerald Eyes. It took us a while to find an excellent eye doctor and a place close to home and we're very pleased and here to stay. Best optical shop we've been to, bar none. Not only is the selection of glasses the best, Norm is incredibly knowledgeable, and ready & willing to search computer catalogs if they don't have exactly what you want. On our first visit he spent a patient 3 1/2 hours with my husband--only later did we accidentally discover his dinner had been waiting all that time--and yes, my spouse came away with the perfect pair. Haven't tried Dr. Phipps yet, but I plan to for my next examination: If the quality of his staff & comfort of his office are any indication, he's as good as his reputation. Can't believe it took us so long to try this place. Thought it looked expensive, but truth is, we wound up paying less than we would have elsewhere--for frames we were happier with. read more

Generally in the past I have received good service from them although it turns out, after doing some basic research, that they are a quite pricey on their frames, lenses and services. Also recently my wife went there for a check up and was up-sold to expensive seam-less bifocals that she did not really need. After receiving the glasses and not being able to use them as they did not satisfactorily address her vision needs they reluctantly retested her and proceeded to change her prescription to less expensive reading only glasses which was all she really needed and wanted. In essence she had a bad customer experience. After the event my wife had, I realized that the last time I was there, I too had been directed to more expensive seam-less bi-focal lenses even though my close up reading need was not that bad. In my case I questioned the optometrist and he conceded that I could get by using less expensive drugstore readers should I feel I needed them. Coincidence? Although they are conveniently located, needless to say they have lost our business. We will seek out another place to have our future vision needs serviced. read more
