They've got all the staples: JCPenneys, Costco, Macy's, Target, H&M, plus smaller stores like Five Below and Bed, Bath and Beyond. The food court is huge and continues to grow, with some older spots being replaced by newer options. I was first introduced to this mall in a pretty unconventional way--at a dance event hosted by Urban Dance Artistry. The space was large enough to host a big crowd and still allow for smaller performance pockets, which showed me how versatile the mall space actually is. As far as cleanliness goes, the mall itself is generally clean and bustling with a very diverse crowd, which I love to see. The only downside? The bathrooms could definitely use some attention. They can be messy and not the freshest-smelling at times. Although I do really like that they have a separate area for kids to wash their hands. I'm not much of a mall shopper these days, and a lot of the stores aren't necessarily places I'd go out of my way for. But as a parent? This place is gold. My son absolutely loves the play area. There's also a paid bounce house spot near it (which he thoroughly enjoyed), and they have the indoor train that rides through the mall--which is basically a core childhood memory waiting to happen. It's also a great spot for teens to meet up at. I love that they have a little photo booth to print out 4 pictures on a strip, very nostalgic vibes. It's also super convenient. The Wheaton train station is right there, but it's also a hub for a lot of buses, making public transit access incredibly easy. On top of that, you've got nearby restaurants, Party City, a grocery store, and plenty of other essentials within walking distance. There's even a CVS Pharmacy nearby. Overall, it's a solid, practical, family-friendly mall. Not luxury, not glamorous--but convenient, affordable, and full of things to do--especially if you have kids. Four stars from me.

I stuck around until 10:10am and left after seeing no signs of intent to open (lights were off, doors were locked, no cars in the lot). I encountered a similar situation last month. I'm assuming that they're having issues with staffing, which is understandable since this is a strictly volunteer-run operation. I wish that they would update their socials or put up a sign to communicate a change in normal operating hours. It's a shame because I really enjoyed shopping here when I first discovered it a few months ago.

In terms of books, there is a selection of both used and new books; the used books are reasonably priced to me because I got two used books under $20. The interior is so spunky with its cool decorations, and all of the books are well-organized and easy to find. Also, on both visits, the lady working there (I'm not sure if she's the same lady both times) was sweet! Overall, it's a cute bookstore, and I'd highly recommend visiting for unique goods and of course, books!

Cozy bookshop alert…read more I'm a bookshop fiend, TBR a mile long. I was driving from DC to Kensington to visit Babycat brewery (see my glowing review on them) and immediately pulled over when I saw this book store. There are so many cute nooks here, the type of place you can tell was a labor of love. I loved their selection of books and bookish gifts. I've already told my DC book club we're making the drive for a book store and Babycat day. Can't wait for my next visit!

Parking review. Gone are the days of getting a paper ticket…read moreat a Pike & Rose garage or paying cash at a machine. Nowadays, their machine setup is a bit different. I recently took a visit to one of the spots within Pike & Rose and when I rolled into one of their garages to grab a ticket at the entrance, I was caught off guard. Not only was there no button to press for a ticket; I noticed the setup was completely different to when I last saw it (I don't visit very often). The screen prompted me to enter my phone number, but since I was new to this whole setup, I decided to bypass that prompt entirely. It showed me as being anonymous and I noticed a 4-digit code popped up on the screen for me to remember. As I parked, I quickly noted the code and the time I entered. After taking care of things, it was time for me to head out. As I proceeded to leave (ready with the 4-digit code it gave me earlier), and pulled up to the garage exit, I noticed the bar to the gate rose up without me doing anything. So, I left. It wasn't until later I realized it must have scanned my license coming in and leaving. Good to know. Depending on where you are shopping you can get some good deals or some expensive meals. So,the value depends on where you visit. Service at each of the places I have gone to is good. When I walked in the store, I was greeted by one of the rudest human beings I have ever met. Rather than greet me when I walked in, the cantankerous old shop owner stated, "I was watching you park to make sure you didn't hit my car." He only got worse from there. I look younger than I am and had kids with me, so I don't think he expected much from me. It was disappointing, as I previously bought my dining room table from this shop and was hoping to find a piece or chairs to match. I won't be returning and recommend skipping this shop. There are many lovely shop owners with excellent taste in this complex who aren't terrible and rude.
