Well, now when people ask me what are some exotic foods I've had, I can add alligator to the list. Had the pleasure of trying the Gator Bites at this establishment when it visited Boston for July 4th. Yes, it really is gator, and they are bite sized! (Tenderloin in the description had me thinking they were larger) Now, since I've not had gator before, I really have nothing to compare to. Still, the dish seemed to be cooked quite nicely. The breading added a nice crunch, but these being slightly larger than popcorn chicken, they had a little more breading than I would have liked. Also nicely seasoned! Personally I could have used a touch less salt, but I know this is due to heightened sensitivity on my part. The kicking bayou sauce was pleasant, but didn't offer enough kick for me. It was creamy and savory, and did offer a nice dimension to the dish. They also have hot sauces on the side if you are looking to add that kick! I can't really comment on the price, since events like July 4th usually result in higher prices. The service was fairly quick, especially for something that came out fresh! I had seen this truck two times this weekend. Once at the Pawsox Food Truck and Craft Brew fest and again the following day at Smithfield Sportman's Club Field Day. We decided to try their bison cheese burger ($11) and an added side of fries ($2). I judge my burgers by the amount of grease and cheese. This one was not lacking in either. It was so tasty, a bit messy but amazing non the less. Did I mention that the burgers are served on a Calise roll, so soft and fluffy. It also had crunchy bacon and the side of fries were perfectly crisp. I also am a fan of sriracha so it's always a plus when it is offered at a food truck or restaurant. I tried them out for the first time at the New England Food Truck Fest and out of all the trucks I tried this had my favorite dish by far, the Venison Chili! I have never been a fan of venison but after this chili I'm sold. It was so flavorful. We were stuffed by the time we got to this truck but had heard good things about the chili and figured we would order it and try a bite or two to see the hype. After one bite you find the room to finish it, and fight your friend for it all. It's that good. I don't know what kind of magic goes on in this kitchen but I am hooked. Open season catered our rustic themed wedding on 10/1 this year, and did an outstanding job. The customer service leading up to the event was fantastic - Dave, Kristen and Kayla are all wonderful to work with. They helped us pick all of the delicious menu details, and were incredibly accommodating. Dave also handled all of our rental needs and negotiated the best deals, and never over charged. They worked with us on special requests: serving my family's home made wine at the reception, taking care of family with special food allergies, and doing and incredible job bringing my vision for the reception to life. And they were so much fun!! Even jumped in the photo booth with us!! And of course, the most important part: the food was exceptional!! Every time we talk to anyone about the wedding they mention the food first!! The displays were beautiful and elegant, while still keeping the rustic theme throughout the part. I would recommend these guys for any catering needs a million times over. Wonderful to work with, reasonably priced, and terrific food. If I could give them more than 5 starts I would. read more

Everything about the meal was so excellent and the attention to detail was incredible. I had a person with a seriously restricted diet, and they accommodated beautifully. Their catering is also superb! I've been to a couple events now that they've catered, and it's amazing how diverse their menu is. That shows true talent on the chef's part. On the surface the wild boar nachos with queso with cilantro and bbq sauce sounds divine. In practice not so much. The shredded boar was, perfect, moist without being greasy. The bbq was not too sweet. The queso may have had cilantro, but I didn't taste any. The chips where your average corn chip. The Open Season took what should have been a gourmet nacho experience, and wrecked it with Plastic Cheese. You know what I'm talking about. The gooey orange cheese like stuff you find in high school and stadium nachos. Their description of food type is, "American (New), Other, Organic/Natural." There is nothing Organic or Natural about plastic cheese, American sure, but not natural or organic. Avoid the Nachos at all costs. And don't pay $9 for them either. read more

I tried them today at the RI Seafood Festival. Only ordered the fried pickles. They were the best I ever had. The coating stayed on each piece. Nicely fried and not greasy. The spicy ranch sauce was yummy too. Good fast service. I would try their other items next time. I would eat there again. read more
