Despite being a hectic night the food came out timely and the service was great. All dishes ordered today are great. The winner is the Peking Duck dishes, second one being San Choy Bow. The Pekung duck Pancake comes preassembled in half moon shape and taste really good. All ingredients are equally represented no wonder we finished it in no time. The second course being San Choy Bow is also devine. It's not overpowered with onion and garnished with water chestnut providing extra texture to the already well represented duck meat and duck skin. The pork belly is probably one of the best we had for a long time. Its so soft we hardly need any efforts to chew it. The preserved veggie is complemented with fresh bok choy providing the extra texture to this dish. The Oyster Mushroom and Chinese Broccoli is also very good. I like the way they do the lo mai gai. Smaller portions, devided between 3 wrappers instead of the usual 2. So you get more filling to rice ratio. Plus they wrap the race in parchment paper before wrapping in the lotus leaf, so it's much easier to peel apart. The trip was a little disappointing however. The flavor was very good but good, but should have been cooked a bit longer, as some of the pieces were still quite chewy. I patiently waited for the egg custard to come out, as they were still baking them. Worth the wait, they were perfect! Light flaky crust, and perfectly light and tender egg custard. Plus, they were the "normal" palm size tart...not those mini ones, that many places switched to, to save money. Honestly, these were the best I have had anywhere! As I was leaving at 10:45, the place was buzzing and almost full. They were also bringing out many more items, such as stuffed bell pepper (with shrimp) and stuffed egg plant (with pork). They also had special carts that would make stir fry noodles or steamed vegy at your table. Makes it feel like Hong Kong, which was the last place I saw these, in the early '90s.

Salt and pepper calamari was the worst I've ever had -- enormous rings with no salt or pepper. The one highlight was the garlic prawns which were well seasoned and tasty. The last dish we tried were the beef skewers - unseasoned mince on skewers with the same salad we'd seen twice before -- mixed leaves with a balsamic glaze. Unless someone gives the food some taste and oomph this great opportunity for a longed-for wine bar in Beecroft will slip away.
