Service is really bad and the food is just around below average. Servers even forgot our order.

Cheap, cheap, cheap! Come here if you want a cheap snack/meal. Buns are $1.50 each, so you can be…read morecomfortably full under $5, or stuff yourself for under 10. They're not amazing but I didn't mind for the price. Pork buns were apparently pretty average, had onions no ginger, and too much soy sauce. They were also cold but it was near closing so the shop had run out of a lot of choices and also why they were cold. My vegetarian buns were still warm though! And they were in a cute leaf shape. Tasted good and had a variety of veggies in there. But the one to get here is definitely the pumpkin and tofu bun. These were very nice and slightly sweet. I quite enjoyed the black sesame bun also, however as with all the buns (and probably a major reason as to why they're so cheap) the filling was very minimal and most of it was the bun itself. Also there is no seating so you can sit at one of the tables outside the centre, or just take it home to eat.

A perfect escape from the crushing hoards of Asians doing their groceries outside, Master Dim Sum…read moreis tucked away upstairs in Eastwood Shopping Centre. Blink and you'll miss it, this tiny shopfront is stacked floor to ceiling with buns, steamer baskets and huge sacks of flour. Don't let the WHS committee know because this is where I carb up before getting out to battle for the freshest bunch of bok choy. The menu is a simply two black and white printed sheets of A4 displayed on the countertop which lists all sorts of sweet and savoury, filled and plain bao, as well as fried bread sticks and fresh soy milk, with most things giving you change from a $2 coin. That's right folks, this is bao - hipster level food - for tuck shop money. Most people get the pork buns but be adventurous and try their black sesame bun; soft pillowy bao encasing a gloriously nutty, black as night sesame filling. If you're lucky it'll be fresh out of the steamer and ready to scald your lips and fingers. Ah that hurt tastes soooo good.

Came Sunday at 9:30, already a quarter full. I had har- gow, chicken feet, trip, lotus leaf sticky rice (lo mai gai). The chicken feet were perfect and the har-gow full and plumb with shrimp. I like the way they do the lo mai gai. Smaller portions, devided between 3 wrappers instead of the usual 2. So you get more filling to rice ratio. Plus they wrap the race in parchment paper before wrapping in the lotus leaf, so it's much easier to peel apart. The trip was a little disappointing however. The flavor was very good but good, but should have been cooked a bit longer, as some of the pieces were still quite chewy. I patiently waited for the egg custard to come out, as they were still baking them. Worth the wait, they were perfect! Light flaky crust, and perfectly light and tender egg custard. Plus, they were the "normal" palm size tart...not those mini ones, that many places switched to, to save money. Honestly, these were the best I have had anywhere! As I was leaving at 10:45, the place was buzzing and almost full. They were also bringing out many more items, such as stuffed bell pepper (with shrimp) and stuffed egg plant (with pork). They also had special carts that would make stir fry noodles or steamed vegy at your table. Makes it feel like Hong Kong, which was the last place I saw these, in the early '90s.

In particular we thought that the cheong fun were outstanding with super fine smooth rice skins. The trolley wait staff were very attentive and seemed to be really focussed on selling! This is high end yum cha and a bit on the expensive side - probably because of the central CBD location.
