My husband and I took some prenatal classes with Kaeli at Open Circle and it provided us a great foundation of information about what to expect for childbirth and the postpartum period. I've had the pleasure of working with Kaeli and Motion Center Mom & Baby over the years. Most recently, my son(4) and daughter (2.5) attended the toddler yoga class in the spring. Expecting a baby? Get thyself to Motion Center Mom & Baby and your world will become even MORE mommy/daddy-oriented... in the best way possible. My husband and I thought we had most of this all figured out. Here was our plan, here was our schedule, here was how were were going to do things... and then it all changed. I was in pain, we realized how clueless we were and thankfully, Motion Center and Kaeli Sutton were there to guide, help and nurture. First, I went in for a pre-natal massage. The vast difference between a regular pre-natal massage where the masseuse goes over you with a set series of treatments and Kaeli's massage is that she is actually listening and feeling her way over you, making sure she's doing what your body needs, where it needs it and how. After my wonderful massage (which is a set price -- she won't accept gratuity!), she suggested I see a chiropractor to really get to where I need help. The advice coupled with the treatment in addition to the suggestions she made about sleeping postures and support made all the difference. Next, we came in for a couples class -- Labor of Love -- where you and your birth partner learn different poses, stretches and postured to do together to aid in the birth process. It was extremely physical, which actually gave us more of an idea of what we'd be experiencing, and extremely informative, as she uses different props and visuals to really give you a sense of what your body is doing, and what you need to do in order to help it do it. Whew. Needless to say, both experiences were extremely eye-opening and helpful. We're signed up for another partners class, of which there are many, and I can't wait to bring my baby to the dance and yoga classes hosted there once she's arrived. Motion Center is also an incredible resource for expectant and postpartum parents, as they connect you with doulas, healthcare providers (like acupuncture, psychology and counseling) and breastfeeding support, which is an amazing resource to have once you realize you know nothing. read more

Motion Center is convenient , affordable, and offers a variety of services. They are most known for their yoga, but there is so much more! I have been going for their prenatal yoga class, which is offered on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Students can drop in for $16 a class, or purchase a 8 class or 10 class card. Parking is available in the side lot (even though it says they are reserved -- its just during the work day, and prenatal classes are after hours) There are no mat fees, but I still prefer to bring my own. There are tons of props we use, as well as water and cups available if you forget to bring your own water bottle. Even though I am much earlier along in my pregnancy than most of the women in the class, I still feel like the movements, discussions, and poses are incredibly beneficial for my ever changing body. In addition to the yoga, the instructor is incredibly knowledgable, and starts class asking what areas we want to work on, as well as pregnancy advice. As someone who has been a bit overwhelmed, and often felt alone because I've had to keep my pregnancy a secret for so long, these classes have been a godsend! I feel part of a community, and love hearing information from real mothers, not just reading it out of a book or off of a website. I feel stronger, more in tune with my body, and my growing baby :) Thanks Motion Center! You most certainly have a new fan! read more

This is the only spot in Rhode Island that offers anusara yoga. The reason for not giving it the full five stars is because the space doesn't have any changing rooms and is bit cramped. I was one of Naama Gidron's Iyengar yoga students at Motion Center before it moved into the Jewelry District. Naama is a smashingly good instructor, very patient and very diligent, focusing more on the practical aspects of the practice than the spiritual ones, which for me was a bonus. I wouldn't go to anyone else. The space was designed for them, too, so entering the space always put me in the right frame of mind. And her students are wonderful people and very welcoming, and the fees are reasonable. While I haven't utilized the other services at Motion Center, like acupuncture, massage, and Chinese medicine, I have met some of the practitioners, and they are all warm, pleasant, and enthusiastic about their respective practices. read more

This review is specifically for Kaeli's massage practice. I won a gift certificate for a massage from Motion center, and recently came in for a relaxing, detoxifying massage. I found Kaeli's work to be so relieving that it actually brought me to tears! Crazy, I know!!! :) I liked how thorough the new patient form was (it asks all sorts of questions about your medical and lifestyle background, and unlike some other places I've been to, you're asked to check off different areas of your body that you'd allow them to work on, and it goes into great detail asking about any injuries you may currently have or have suffered from in the past - so it avoids any awkwardness later on) and I also liked how she asked me a lot of questions about my preferences before she started working - not everybody does that! She uses jojoba oils with a variety of different aromas - I opted for the eucalyptus rosemary and it was equally invigorating and relaxing. Kaeli is a top-notch practitioner - she has great credentials (over 900 hours of training), and really does a great job of listening to you and providing exactly what you need. It looks like she also has a lot of experience in pre and post-natal massage, which is a great bonus. I've definitely found my masseuse of choice here at Motion Center. I can only hope that I will be continually showered with gift certificates to Motion Center for years to come - I couldn't think of a better way to spend the afternoon. I work in the Jewerlry District and have been attending The Motion Center's lunchtime yoga classes for close to a year now. Although a yoga class is traditionally expected to be an hour-and-a-half or so long, the lunchtime yoga teachers do an excellent job of condensing a class into an hour. One thing that may help with shortening the class is an absense of a meditation practice prior to or at the end of a class (don't worry, there IS shavasana), which some may see as a good or bad thing. I personally love it when my yoga class interprets meditation, and was surprised to learn how relaxed and centered I left after the hour-long class. The use of props at The Motion Center really allows the practitioner to reach new levels of a stretch and more accurate alignment. While I have been practicing yoga for about six years now, I can say that the use of Motion Center's rope wall, blocks, straps, bolsters, and chairs has allowed me to progress in my practice more rapidly than I would have thought. It also helps your state of relaxation to feel fully and adequately stretched and worked before returning back to the office, and the props definitely help in making that happen. The Motion Center has lunchtime classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30. Each class is taught by a different teacher, which offers great opportunity for variety. After having my first born and we enjoyed parent + baby yoga classes at Open Circle for quite some time. When i was pregnant with my 2nd a year later i decided to get a head start on prenatal yoga as well as birth education classes with my husband. I have had nothing but amazing experiences at Open Circle so naturally i have been back for post natal massages, more parent + baby yoga and inner body yoga (both in person and online during the height of the pandemic). Kaeli is a very compassionate and resourceful professional and cares deeply about her community. Anytime I am in her space I feel at ease and able to receive the goodness of whatever practice is at hand and therefore allow the healing to take place. When I moved to Providence, I immediately began looking for an Iyengar yoga studio. The moment I entered Motion Center's beautiful new space in the Jewelry District, I knew I had discovered a special place. Not only do they offer challenging, precise, thorough, and intelligent Iyengar yoga classes in a very friendly and well-equipped environment (including tons of new, well-organized props and a rope wall), but they also offer all sorts of body work and other activities as well (massage, rolfing, dance, acupuncture and herbal medicine, multiple forms of yoga, etc.). So far I have done iyengar and vinyasa yoga, massage therapy, and rolfing there. I've found all of Motion Center's practitioners/teachers to be extremely dedicated, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and, most of all, generous with their time and their level of commitment to individual clients/students. For such high quality instruction and body work, their prices are also extremely fair. They have put together a very special and welcoming place, and I am thankful that they have. tl;dr: our experience as parents is *infinitely* richer because of working with Kaeli and Motion Center Mom + Baby. My family has availed itself of almost every service Motion Center Mom + Baby offers: we took the contemplative birthing class, Kaeli was one of our birth doulas for our 4 yo daughter, I've had prenatal massages with her, taken mom + baby dance, taken mom + baby yoga, taken mom + toddler yoga, and drew on Kaeli's expertise as a doula as we prepared for the arrival of our second daughter. Kaeli's experience and calming presence keep us coming back to Motion Center time and again. All of the experiences we had working with Motion Center helped us approach the arrivals of our children and their first years with excitement, wonder, and gratitude. The six-week birth class was amazing for both me and my husband - I ended up having an unplanned C-section for my first daughter's birth, but had no regrets about the experience afterward because Kaeli helped me and my husband go into that process thinking about what mattered most to us and how to integrate that with our doctors' expert opinions. All the prenatal yoga classes I attended began with great educational vignettes on pregnancy and birth, and Kaeli is a gifted massage therapist. Kaeli and Open Circle were invaluable in getting me ready and confident ahead of the birth of my first child. (In the end nothing went according to plan -- but Kaeli's approach had also helped us develop a frame of mind that allowed us to stay positive and fully present for a joyful birth anyway!) Because of the Contemplative Birth classes, my husband and I felt expertly prepared, despite having little knowledge of babies or birth beforehand. Although I thought reading several pregnancy and birth books would have given me most of the information already, there was so much that was new and invaluable to us. These in-depth sessions gave us a head start on everything from managing the experience of labor, to figuring out how our household would continue to function during the newborn weeks, to a super enlightening breastfeeding primer. Whenever we questioned the time commitment -- with two busy work schedules, it was sometimes tricky -- we quickly agreed that each class gave us so much new knowledge, it was important to see them through. And I can testify that all the information Kaeli draws from is evidence-based, and the classes aren't exclusively for the "crunchy" at heart. I love Motion Center! I have been taking classes there since last October. They have great teachers and It is a great space with bamboo floors and natural light. I have taken classes with Naama (an Iyengar teacher) and Kaeli (hatha yoga) and I would highly recommend them both. The other students are friendly and non-competitive. My only warning for first-timers is that it can be a bit hard to find. When there is class they have a sandwich board that they put out on the street, but there is otherwise no evidence from the street that there is a yoga studio inside. (The rest of the building they are in is office space). read more

hen I step into the Motion Center for my classes, it is like stepping into an oasis of happy calm. I can escape the hubbub of the city and my busy life and concentrate on my practice. The studio is fully equipped and gorgeous, a newly renovated space conveniently located in the Jewelry District. Naama Gidron, my teacher (and one of the studio's co-founders), is attentive, warm, and knowledgeable; an excellent teacher with a great attention to detail, sense of humor and a willingness to listen to any problems I may be having. I have been taking classes with her for about four years. There is also a wonderful camaraderie and friendliness amongst my classmates (many who come once eventually become regulars), which makes things all the more fun. It is a safe and inviting space in which to practice. Additionally, there are other services there, like acupuncture and massage. I have been getting semi-regular massages from Kaeli Sutton (the other studio co-founder) for a few years now, and they are wonderful. Naama and Kaeli are long time practicioners who very involved in the life of the studio, and committed to finding the best teachers, and giving students the best experience they can have. They are constantly thinking of ways to make things better. It's really wonderful to have a studio with such a high level of excellence in Providence. read more
