The meal also came with a small complimentary starter of pita and dip, which was a nice touch. The service here was one of our notable highlights - the staff were all very friendly. One of the family members that owns the restaurant (an older lady) who makes all the desserts also came out to personally ask each table how everything was going. I have Greek heritage so I am very picky about my Greek food. Opa Grill gets my approval for takeout. The horiatiki salad was exactly right; big chunks of tomato, cucumber, and onion with the right amount of light dressing. My wife tremendously enjoyed her Greek salad topped with gyro meat. Opa Grill was a good, family-friendly restaurant in Kenilworth. Tried it for the first time. Everything was fresh and flavorful. When we walked in, small restaurant, however you can feel the family love within the place. I think one of the owners was making homemade food at one of the tables. I loved seeing what's homemade is put into cooking. Service was great, all payments are accepted, parking is available outside and within walking distance to Opa Grill. Cozy establishment, delicious food!! My daughter wanted Greek food for her graduation dinner, we are part Greek, so we are pretty picky. I found this spot, showed her some pictures, she was nervous as we went to another local restaurant recently (saw opa on the drive there, WISH WE STOPPED THE CAR AND ATE THERE) that is now behind us. We are EXTREMELY HAPPY! We were served a fried pita appetizer with beet dip. A very tasty surprise! The tzatziki sauce was perfect! Authenticity is what we're looking for, and we got it here. We all got gyros/souvlaki platter. Chicken was juicy, kids were happy with the lamb. Greek were on point. Overall, we found our new spot! The service was excellent, aside from a girl coming to mop a spill 20 minutes too late with a dirty mop/the smell before we ate was unbearable. The waiter was very kind, helpful, polite and checked on us quite a bit. I can't wait to go back and try something new. Food was very tasty. They brought out complimentary pita with various dips & penne vodka with chicken. I don't eat meat so I did not taste the pasta but everyone said it was good. I really enjoyed the beet dip that came with the pita. Portion sizes were very large for everything and the prices are extremely reasonable. The staff was very friendly, the chef/owner (?) Brought a few of the dishes out himself and checked on use during the meal. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food came out at very different times. On one had I appreciate that they brought out the meals as they were ready so they would be fresh, however we had a party of 7 of some people were already almost done with their meals by the time the last person got theirs. What an absolute gem!! ALL their food is absolutely mind blowing- hands down the best Greek place I've ever been to. I went to the cash register and ordered for here: the eggplant dip, spanakopita for appetizers, a falafel gyro for my main entree and a milopita for dessert. Then we went to go sit at the table. Within a couple minutes, they brought a beet dip and pita which was so good! You can taste the beets, garlic, spice aftermath and paired beautifully with the freshly made pita. Shortly after we got the eggplant pita which had a wonderful cold contrast with textures like peppers, kalamata olives etc with the pita. The spanakopita were hands down insane!! It was so fresh, fried just right - not oily, beautiful crunch and crisp. For the main meal the falafel gyro came with the French fries. The gyro didn't have too much tzatziki sauce so it was a bit dry. The falafels were well made and flavorful. The French fries were lightly salted so the ketchup paired very nicely. For the dessert, we asked the waitress and she recommended the milopita if we wanted a warm lightly sweet dessert. So glad we got this on a cold day, it tasted like Christmas-time and fresh, flaky apple cinnamon cohesively meshed together. Decided to check this place out for a lunch recently . I tried the lamb gyro to start with a side of lemon potatoes. The lamb gyro was pretty good! Lemon potatoes were ok. I would definitely come back and check it out again. There is an outside area to eat - good for this Covid pandemic Otherwise there is an inside dining area for whenever inside dining will be back in season again. This place has a family feel, you walk in and can see straight back into the kitchen. There is Greek music continuously playing. You can dine in or take out. The menu is filled with many traditional dishes served on large plates, great for sharing. The food was well seasoned and plated with a melon on the side. The chicken noodle soup was more flavorful than my lobster bisque (but I still enjoyed with crackers). The desert menu is large and there is so much to choose from. Not pictured in my review is the baklava cheesecake I took to go. It was delicious and very sweet, I would recommend as an occasional treat. Stumbled onto this small storefront restaurant on the Boulevard in Kenilworth and have been back many times since. They have this amazing appetizer called Opa Chips that are unbelievable. They are thinly sliced zucchini and eggplant that are deep fried and sprinkled with some deliciousness. Definitely enough to share. I tried their special "Bowl", in competition with Chipotle or Qdoba. I chose the lamb, but you could have chicken or pork. The lamb was paper thin and delicious with rice, tzatsiki sauce and lots of other goodies. The portions are ample and the prices reasonable, It is family run and very hospitable. read more

I haven't been there in a long time. So today I decided to order to pick up. I was very disappointed in the meal that I bought. First of all the prices went up, which you can't do much about because of inflation. But it's not an excuse for poor quality. I'm surprised that the meat that they gave me tasted stale. The lamb, the chicken and the pork tasted like it's been sitting for a while. I remember when I used to go there before, they took their time they cook the food. I got it hot and it was great today, it was terrible. I don't know it's because they were busy, but regardless, the prices went up and the quality went down they need to make this up to me. That's all I got to say for now I don't know if I'll ever go back again. Well now , I called the Resturant that same night to let them know. So that same night, they gave me a courtesy call and apologized. Thank you OPA you have a won me back. I know it's a family business and I know they wouldn't intentionally ruin my meal. I can only speak to the takeout experience with Opa Grill since I'm writing during the COVID-19 months! My family and I were really in the mood for healthy food and my mother knew this place to have great salads so we went for it. For me, I ordered the Opa House Salad and it was delicious. The ingredients were so fresh and it was nice having a salad with a really light dressing on it for a change (I'm usually a big creamy dressing girl). We also ordered the Greek Fries to share and those were so yummy. They weren't quite as crispy as they would've been in the store I imagine, but still very good. The cheese, oregano, and lemony dressing they put over them were like heaven. My only wish would've been that they would've tossed the fries more before serving, as the cheese tended to stick in just one or two places rather than being scattered throughout. My wife and I sat down on a Sunday night, at the time only 4 other tables were taken with couples. After we ordered sat an hour and 15 minutes without our food. We were given pita after a half hour and went without a water refill for 50 minutes despite asking. We were told after the half hour point they had a computer issue, we understood. Then we saw two other tables who sat only 20 minutes before we left get their entire meal. After the hour mark without any of our three appetizers, water or any further communication we told them to cancel our order and we left. My brother, sister in law, and I had a wonderful, leisurely lunch at Opa today. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. As soon as we were seated, she brought a platter with pita bread and a delicious beet dip to our table. We ordered a variety of appetizers, a Horiatiki salad for my brother, and chicken and beef/lamb gyros for my sister in law and myself. Everything was served quickly and tasted terrific. Local greek joint which has good food. Wait times are long for the kebabs but the gyro is fast. Great food for great price be aware of wait times especially if your on a time crunch for lunch. There is street parking and outdoor seating. When you order the lunch gyro sandwich don't order fries because it comes with fries! I usually get rice with it and it's great! read more

Very disappointing on this visit. We called to place a takeout order and was told 20 minutes. We arrived 25 minutes later and still had to wait another 15-20 minutes. We placed two orders of the chicken kebobs which came with rice and a side salad, and the falafel which came with French fries. My daughter realized immediately her chicken was partially raw and undercooked. There were streaks of blood in the kebobs. I checked mine and it was the same way. We decided to sauté each kebob in our frying pan at home and not discard the meal. Even after cooking the chicken further, it still had a rubbery texture to it. Weird! My wife enjoyed her falafel but said the fries were very basic and bland. The side salads were overly soaked in a vinaigrette dressing. Disappointing to say the least. I don't know if we'll be back. My last review before the pandemic indicated we had to wait 40 minutes for our meal at lunch time. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is so good, fresh, best ingredients, and honestly such a great deal! They serve so much food! I always have left overs. They offer you pita bread and tzatziki sauce when you arrive and are looking over the menu. The platters all come with a salad or soup (both are great!). The waitresses are all so attentive and sweet, I've never had a bad experience. I also love that they have Greek music playing throughout, it makes it feel like an authentic Greek experience. It's unfortunate but I used to love this place. For some odd reason it has gone down hill. I ordered 3 things. An appetizer, entrée, and a dessert. When I first picked up the order, they forgot to give me my soup that was included with my meal. It came with the chicken and rice, but it had a excessive amount of salt and way too much lemon. Quite disappointed with the soup because it's one of my favorites. And my meal which I ordered Moussaka was extremely burnt and dry. What a disappointment. Very surprised this place does not have a lot of reviews. I'm guessing it's pretty new still. Stopped here for dinner with good faith in all the reviews and was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Serving us a free on the house sample of one of their sauces with pita. We ordered cold and warm appetizers. The beets and the meatballs. The beets were delicious with the potatoes the were served with and as well were the meatballs. They were seasoned amazing and served nice and hot. onto the entrees, I got the gyro platter with chicken and my boyfriend got a special which was a delicious chicken stew with vegetables. With the gyro platter i had a choice of soup or salad and my boyfriend had a choice of any two sides. We were excited to see that they had Loukamades a donut dessert drenched in honey. Unfortunately everything about our $65 to go order with 2 entrees, an appetizer, and dessert was mediocre. First time dining here after passing it a million times. Cozy and friendly place which oozes Greece. Staff was very friendly and nice. The best part though was the FOOD! Amazing. Fresh, authentic and great portions. I've had a lot of Greek food and this place is the best Greek I've had since I went to Crete. The grilled octopus was delicious.
