I didn't buy the GROUPON but we tried out Debra Miller-Palmore's amazing boot camp for kids wanting to improve their basketball skills and their overall life skills. Her team puts the kids thru a 2 hour boot camp Tuesdays, Thursday (5:30 - 7:30) and Saturdays & Sundays (3 - 5) She's a retired Olympic Basketball athlete and she knows her stuff. She requests a minimum 3 month commitment and that seems like the perfect amount of time to help the kids improve their game. No notice until we got to the butterfly house, and truthfully it would have been nice to have been told that when we paid so we could have planned out our day better. They told us ten minutes, but their talk they do at the beginning took half of that so we felt pretty rushed. Other animal exhibits include a couple of owls, a beaver, and some vultures. Indoor exhibits were also limited, but at least it was air conditioned. I would not recommend visiting in summer months. Trail is fairly shady, but still brutally hot already. Overall, the exhibit is great and perfect for kiddos.

We reserved a space as a courtesy but I appreciate the drop in option. There are no pressure sale tactics to rope you into buying classes or dates with penalties. It promotes the love of art period. Parents can deop their kid off for a class and everyone is happily discovering their artsy self. The offer language classes and piano lessons as well. The theme is giving and avenue to express creativity with no pressures. I was so pleased to learn they have camps for when schools out as well as host parties. Most of the teachers have been there a while with professional experience and a love of art with patience which promotes creativity at reasonable prices. I'm grateful for their flexibility because when the rain caused a delay it was really good of them to offer my daughter a shared private lesson where she was able to connect with another young person who shared her interests in art. That was really amazing to witness two young people on the same artistic wavelength getting lost in their lesson. My daughter plans to return and we recommend this place to anyone who has a child who loves arts.

We often felt unclear on expectations, received little guidance on working with the horses, and experienced inconsistent communication. At times, interactions felt distant, which made it hard to feel fully welcomed. Our final visit to the garden club--where we were initially told it was "full" without prior notice--ultimately solidified that this wasn't the right fit for us, though we appreciated Erin stepping in to let us help. That said, Monica and Dylan were wonderful and very supportive. I genuinely believe in the mission and hope the volunteer experience continues to improve with more structure and communication.

It wasn't awkward at all ... being that I never played tennis. Coach Joe is AWESOME. He's funny, full of energy, and treats each one of us like we can be a tennis star even in our later years. I found the Summer Class for the little kids (5 years old) to be reasonable and luckily in my time schedule. Monday's at 4 and Saturday mornings. The coach is so good and he really encourages my daughter. She's 5 so I don't know if she'll be good or not ... but it's definitely great to get outdoors and introduce her and I to something new. They also have a lot of free and for profit events. Join the email group. If things remain the same I'll forever be a patron whether active or passive.

The max capacity for the class is 8 people, so you have to make your reservation early - this is easy enough to do on their website. They also offer round robin tournaments and other organized pickleball activities. My only gripe is that it's not easy to reserve a pickleball court if you just feel like playing on your own. Sometimes, when the weather is nice, we feel like going out for some impromptu pickleball and don't feel like competing. Still looking for places in DeKalb where we can easily reserve a court and do our own thing. I believe you can call to check availability and reserve, though.

Adult fall classes--running October 6th through December 13th--are also available, covering both visual and ceramic arts. Each class is taught by individual instructors, making it approachable for students of all levels. Best of all, online registration makes it simple to sign up. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that such a wonderful resource has been right in my neighborhood all along. It was a great experience, and I've already registered for pottery classes--something I'm really excited about!
