Pretty out of my budget for second hand items but the items provided are worth the price if you're able to indulge!

I had a pretty negative interaction with the store clerk here. I purchased a dress for a wedding that I ended up wanting to return because I preferred another color of the same dress but Onyx was out of my size. While there purchasing the dress, my girlfriend asked about the return policy and the clerk only mentioned that it was a 30-day return window. When I went to return it, I then found out that it was only store credit (no cash refund), which is totally fair, but I would have preferred knowing that at time of purchase. The clerk then went on to repeat that "those words would literally never leave my mouth" "we've never offered cash" etc etc. (we never accused her of saying that we would get a cash refund, just that she didn't mention it). She then told me that the store was actually closing in less than a month and they weren't getting any new inventory. So now I have about $300 to spend at a store that isn't getting any new inventory in less than a month. Pretty ridiculous to be honest. Can't imagine why the store is closing! But honestly, good riddance. read more

From the same owners of Onyx in the Mission - comes a new Onyx location - conveniently located on boutique lined Divisadero. Onyx Boutique is full of well chosen garments and accessories. From hip Obey faux red leather jackets lined with casual grey hoodie material, to plush lined casual jackets that make you yearn to never take them off - it is brimming with stylish finds. The space is big and well laid out and will be perfect for hosting fun events and I'm excited to see what other wonderful items will be rotating in here. I was particularly taken with their L'Aromatica Perfume selection - which are all natural and entirely transporting. One of the owners was at the store when I visited and it was evident that she puts a slew of care and attention into all of the chosen merchandise. Divisadero keeps on blossoming with enticing boutiques and it's hard to walk down this street without buying something! Onyx is well worth venturing into. Trust. read more

Onyx is literally a gem on Divis! Quite a gem +'s: + Fetching collection for both women and men! The clothing designs reflect someone who understands style without being terribly trendy. Quality of materials show that consumers don't want something from Forever 21. + Jewelry counter is a gem in itself. Don't forget to browse. Very interesting designs that are unique and worth a look or try. + Pleasant assistance and someone who has an eye! Don't have her name, but that day, the woman at Onyx made remarks about a couple styles that my BF tried on. I agreed with her silently in the background. As a former fashion assistant editor I know when someone is straight up lying and trying to get a sale. This woman knew what was going on and made helpful comments on why one item worked more in favor than another. + Sale rack. Good finds and some decent sizes left. + Comparable prices to online sites. Usually I buy 99% of my clothing online but supporting local business who charge comparable prices deserve support. Not a gem -'s: - The boutique is not located on a thoroughfare that solicits many shoppers. Maybe less of a negative comment supposing that Onxy's prices are kept competitive to avoid passing high rents from perhaps a more highly trafficked area. TIP: Select a cloth bag provided by Onyx on your first purchase. Reuse this bag on your next purchase to get a $2 credit. Better than the $0.10 credit you get from most places! read more

Just had the same experience as Jessie described. This place seemed to be a total gem and I was loving everything until realizing the shop owner was blatantly ignoring me and my boyfriend, with only us 2 in the shop. I never write reviews but I could not believe how rude this woman was. We spent a good amount of time browsing. When I finally approached the counter to look at jewelry and pick up a card I'm thinking ok now she'll at least acknowledge me. She finally dares to acknowledge my existence, and being a person who can't stand to be rude I smile and say hi: nothing but a stare back, not even a peep. Then, I'm like ok clearly she wants us out of here. We go and my boyfriend was the first to comment "Wow, I felt so uncomfortable in there like we were bothering her." Boom. And if he's picking up on that, it's pretty blatant. Bottom line, maybe you should run this bus. behind the scenes where you don't scare off, you know.... people! read more

New to the neighborhood and walked into Onyx Boutique yesterday afternoon and have never felt more uncomfortable in San Francisco due to how I look. Blatant racism from the girl who was working there. Was very sweet and attentive to the only other girl in the shop. When it came to me, she would not look at me or talk to me, even when it was only me and her walking around. She seemed to follow me around the shop, without actually addressing me. Made me feel like she expected me to try to steal something. I was about to buy a really cute sweater and some jewelry that I liked, but in the end decided not to. I could not believe that I would be treated like that in 2017, and SF of all places. I have never written a review before but felt compelled to do so. In hindsight, I wish I had said something to her as I walked out (she still didn't look up at me as I headed towards the door), but how can you talk to people like that? I am appalled by her actions and will not recommend anyone to shop here. If anything, I will make sure to let everyone know about how this store treats others and will make sure they do not shop there. read more

Onyx is a gorgeous little boutique in Dolores Heights/Noe Valley that opened this summer. They carry fabulous clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories, candles and perfume. Many of their products are locally-sourced or indie labels such as Curator, Modaspia and L'Aromatica. Prices range from affordable to luxury. Got 5 really well priced cute things, earrings, a scent from Holland for my fiance', a cool necklace, an amazing cashmere sweater, and some cute socks. I basically wanted everything in there! Onyx is a beautiful boutique! My wife & love it ! It is filled with art (which rotates), clothing and jewelry. Many of the items are from hard to find designers. This boutique is a San Francisco gem. The clothing, shoes and jewelry are super urban chic. The owners really have their fingers on the pulse of cool SF style. It's an art and gift gallery also. This is a great neighborhood boutique. I always find something, I especially love their jewelry. They carry really unique pieces from local/West Coast makers. I like that there is a range of prices in their clothing. While there are some very pricey things, there are usually things within reach too. I've also had great success with their sample sales..gotten some absolute steals! While they don't carry a huge selection of shoes, what they do have I really like. I've bought a couple great pairs of coclicos and a pair of booties that are in permanent rotation. Overall, the selection of bags, jewelry, clothing, and shoes is very well curated. You don't get lost in piles of stuff so it's easy to pop in, find something and move on. The owner and staff are really friendly, not pushy and give honest feedback on what is (or more importantly, is-not) flattering. :-) So glad to have them in the neighborhood! read more

A well curated, bright open boutique in the Mission. I wanted to slip into every dress in there! The fabrics are incredible. Some of the softest, lightest, and well made pieces. It is clear every item is picked out for a reason. I was so smitten with each and every cut, pleat, seam and silhouette. They had a particular dress on a mannequin I kept coming back to because I KNEW no matter who put it on it was going to hang beautifully and flatter every curve. I walked back to it about a dozen times just to study it and smile. There are many local designers, as well as ones from New York and all over. One of the owners was there and she was very attentive and was s knowledgeable. Her dog Spike is really sweet too :) I walked away with a candle. Blood orange and bergamot yessss!!! Typical prices for San Francisco, though I would do cartwheels if everything was just a tad less expensive. Though once again, I know the pieces are hand picked by the owners and well made by talented artists who make quality pieces. A great place to come and put your dollars towards supporting artists in the community. Gorgeous jewelry pieces, men's clothing, dresses, pants, underwear. Even though it is a small shop I could spend a couple hours in there just trying things on and talking to the owners. I can't wait to pop in again. I will definitely be back for a dress or two. And maybe a jumpsuit and some of that cute striped shorts I was staring at. read more

The Divisadero shop is tucked away in an up and coming neighborhood but is always worth the trip. There are staple pieces like the Prairie Underground line (stretchy pants & dresses or jackets that you can live in) as well as specialty lines like Ace and Jig, Stance socks and Amsterdam's Soda and Scotch. It's a little rock and roll, they carry jewelry made from recycled drum cymbals (!) & cool pieces from Portland's Betsy & Iya too. There are also lots of feminine pieces from local designers who design cool back packs, shrugs and jumpsuits. Cool selection of guys stuff too including sharp button ups, Pendleton's and the Roark Revival line. Last but not least the Imaginary Authors perfume line is a current favorite and the lines of uniquely scented soy candles (like Cashmere...& Topanga) are the perfect last minute grab & go gift. This place has got great style, it's refreshingly independent plus does a great job at representing designers and artists from both coasts and beyond. read more

Happy to have one cute place to buy clothes in the hood. Selection is suited to my style, layout is airy and chic. Prices range from pricey to reasonable. One of the owner ladies provides great friendly service, likes to talk about clothes, remembers what I bought last time and makes good suggestions. The woman working there last time I went in utterly ignored me while she played on her computer, seemed annoyed when I asked for sizes. read more
