They simply didn't know what they were doing. Every time they came out there was an error with the installation they did or they couldn't install what they said they could. They did try to fix the issues they had created but it was a waste of time. Even though they're preferred vendors for certain smart locks, we ended up working with our local locksmith in the end and had a much better experience. read more

Had them out to install a Nest thermostat. Dish Network technician Bruce was quite the salesman asked us if we've ever considered the Nest Doorbell and a security camera. Offered us what sounded like a good deal so we gave the go-ahead. He began installing a gray doorbell and we stopped him and said we needed a white one. He said the white doorbell was out of stock but that we should call in a month and they'd swap out the gray one for a white one. Were we naive fools? Yes we were. Should we have gotten this in writing? Yep. We have called multiple times and been refused every step of the way, all the way up to some guy at the parent company Dish Network. OnTech's website says they promise you'll be 100% satisfied or they'll work with you until you are. Are they lying about that just like Bruce was lying about the doorbell. Yep. Buyer beware. Would think Google would do better than endorsing these fools to to their installs. read more

this company started out Ok with a $99 google Ring doorbell install (Jan 2022) then came back a few weeks later & fixed the door bell (it quit working) Then I call them today (April 2022) they want another $129 to find out if the item is covered under warranty. But after a 26 minute phone call they offer $49 to have the tech look & find out IF another product would be a better fit. I asked them why I should do that? if the tech installed the wrong product & then came back a few weeks to fix it why didn't they tell me I might have the wrong door bell? Do they think I am stupid WOW they are the worst. read more

The installer told me that if I paid $99 for a membership, I would get a free install and 20% off the products he is installing and may buy in the future. When I received the receipt, it showed that they charged me $199 for the yearly membership and charged me $249 for a Google Nest Wifi Mesh Router and 1 point. On Best Buy's website the bundle is running for $189. When I found this out an hour later, I tried to cancel and get a refund on the membership and return all of their items, but they said it's too late to cancel the membership because they did a free install of the Google Nest (plugging it in). Long story short, I paid over $450 when I could have only paid $189 and they will not give me my money back on a purchase I made just an hour ago. read more

I would characterize my experience with Ontech as outright fraud. I explained thoroughly what my thermostat wiring set up was to the tech on the phone and was assured that it was very common and the tech that would come out for the site visit had seen this scenario before and there would be no issues in fixing an ongoing issue with one of our Nest Thermostats. They happily took my money in advance but the tech was in our home roughly 45 seconds when he let me know that had he known what our setup was, he would have let me know that this isn't something they could rectify. His advice was to actually get a different thermostat, which I was blown away by. DO NOT consider working with this company. They lie in order to steal your money, no different than a common thief. read more

This company is a scam. I waited a week for a "nest pro" to come and solve the issue with 2 of my 5 nests (I knew the issue, given how "smart" nests are, it already told me it was no power to the common wire) and the tech showed up and spent about an hour making the same determination I already knew. Then he said I needed a 24V adapter for both nests installed and he had them on his truck but his manager wouldn't allow him to install them. So 2 of my zones remained under 55 degrees and I'm now waiting for an actual HVAC company to come and install the adapters. Don't believe what the OnTech sales people tell you, the "nest pros" are only there to diagnose, not fix. Don't waste your money. I wonder if the "pro" didn't know how to install the adapters honestly. read more

We called the company number to complete installation of our Nest doorbell and they dispatched a local technician, Brian, to our home right away. Brian was excellent, knowing exactly how to solve our problem directly and the charges we paid the company were very justified. Brian called us ahead of his arrival and was ON TIME, too. This was a delightful home service experience. We would recommend this company highly. read more

Typed in my address with their verification and they took it and accepted and scheduled an install for a Nest Doorbell. I had to call them AFTER the installation window to find out they don't have techs in my area. Terrible customer service on the phone. Sad to see Google partnering with such a subpar company. Had Google return all equipment I purchased and went with Ring from Amazon. Spent $1200 with Google spent a little more with Amazon for a similar set up. Would put 0 stars if I could. read more

If I could leave them negative stars I would, and I don't say that often at all! A technician came out, told us they couldn't install the nest doorbell we had- it would be easier for him to sell us a different one and install that one. It ended up being a bad product (didn't record 24/7 like I asked-the product I originally bought did though!). When I called customer service to help me with it- the supervisor was awful!! I work in customer service and I was appalled by the way they handled it. She wouldn't accept the product back and wouldn't come out to install the original one I bought without paying the full price again. The only 'deal' she offered was a membership which I absolutely don't want considering they did bad work to begin with. I post this as a warning so others don't also hire a company that won't stand behind their service at all. Google really shouldn't recommend them to install their products. read more

They came out as scheduled. However, they couldn't install electric video doorbell from google and recommended battery. It holds a charge for weeks not months and only records when it sees something. It didn't record flashing lights at night. read more

A service technician arrived to install our Ring doorbell, but was unable to replace the old transformer and we canceled the service call. Before he left, he asked for the serial number of the Ring Doorbell for his service log/call record. I refused to provide the information as the technician had not performed any work or installed any devices. I emailed customer service for an explanation as to why we were asked to provide this proprietary information on an installation that never happened. They said "... our technicians may ask for it as part of our QA process, but the information is kept within the company and is secure." Right. read more

Scam. Don't fall for it. Referred from Google to this service to assist with installing a thermostat. Told them I needed phone support for wiring and they said I could pay 9.95 per month and cancel after the initial month payment and i received the help. After taking my credit card info and charging me, they transferred to their technical support who immediately said they will not do support over the phone for wiring. I would have to pay the 129.99 hourly fee for someone to come to my house. Now they won't give me a refund! read more

After setting, AND PAYING, for an appointment for tuesday 10am-12 I was called at 9:34am tuesday to be told by Ceasar that my technician would not be available until 4pm at the earliest when I would already be at work, Ceasar then advises me that my only other option is to wait a week for the technician to be back in my area and THEN tells me he is currently in Key Largo and has 5 jobs ahead of mine. However on your "track my technician" feature I can clearly see he is not only close but within 4 miles of my house. I have attached a photo and in this photo you can see the time of the screen shot and the location of my technician, certainly not where he claimed to be. Not only was this upsetting but it doesn't stop there- when I call to talk to a supervisor I am told that NONE are available but a note can be left for one to reach out and to recheck my "track your technician" and when I do I see that my appointment time is now 5PM-6:15PM WHEN I WILL NOT EVEN BE HOME. Zero help was offered, no credits or benefits were put in the table as a form of reconciliation, absolutely nothing was done to try to make the situation right. I would give this company negative stars for customer service if it was an option! Absolutely furious on why I would be able to set an appointment with an already TWO HOUR WINDOW if in fact other jobs would be placed in front of me and my appointment be pushed back A WEEK if I could not be home at a time I DID NOT set my appointment for ! I do not recommend this company if you have an event planned, have expectations of your appointment to be when they give you a timeframe of, or if you have any expectations of any kind of customer service ! Absolutely devastated and infuriated. read more

OnTech - the location of the technician who claimed to be two hours away (he was in my neighborhood) and the time of screenshot - Home Network Installation Near Me

Absolute horrible service... paid for a membership which was a complete waste of money.. then was forced to pay another $200 to have a tech come to my house, charge me an extra $100 for a wire, and still not be able to hook up my NEST. Now I am stuck with the original AC unit, wasted hundreds of dollars, and the AC in my 8-month-olds room doesn't work. Been waiting for 3 days for a 'supervisor' to return my call. Nothing. Now I am fed up and will do everything i can to let people know how ON TECH treats their customers. read more

Awful company... technician didn't show up twice (no call to inform)... then a technician came 3 days later and spent 15mn trying to install the lock... admitted it was beyond his skills... next technician who came to the rescue 3 days later said it would cost more (approx $95) to diagnose what went wrong on top of the initial $130 installation fee. We're now sending back the Lockly system to get refunded and raising a claim with Ontech to get our money back. read more

Since OnTech doesn't provide much information online about the scope of their installation services, I called them to ask about wiring. The call was initially answered by someone on a poor connection who transferred me to someone better able to answer my questions. The person I was transferred to had a much better connection and stated she could not answer my question about whether their techs install 120V AC GFI outdoor receptacles (outlets), saying that was too technical for her. She stated her role is sales. She said I needed to talk with a technician and that requires an OnTech membership for $250. So, OnTech puts information necessary for deciding whether to hire them behind a paywall and pushes hard for payment. Unlike other tradesmen-for-hire services, OnTech posts no information about the certification, licensing, training, or screening of their technicians. It is concerning that Google directs their Home and Nest customers to OnTech for product installation. OnTech is likely to disappoint Google Store customers, damaging Google in the process. read more

Too bad zero stars is not an option. On Tech performed a diagnostic service and found four bad SimpliSafe sensors. SimpliSafe was kind enough to replace those sensors at no cost. I called On Tech to schedule a service and was told they would charge me $129 for three sensors and then another $129 for the fourth. This is a 15 minute job at best. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone who wants to get ring service installation. I spoke to two customer service reps who not capable of entering the right order. One was more interested in selling me a membership that wouldn't benefit me because I boomy products directly from ring. He showed up late for the appointment, and was interested in charging more for his services that were not disclosed at the time the order was placed. He also forgot to install one of the products and left without giving a tutorial on how to use it. The level of incompetence this company displayed has taught me to read manuals, I could have saved myself a lot of money and check Yelp before using any service. I would have seen the one star reviews they had before wasting my time. read more

Google recommends Ontech but the service is terrible. the technician they sent struggled to install the thermostat. After the install, there were some issues and then it stopped working. My experience with OnTech was great. They showed up a little late but let me know when the tech was to arrive. Kept me informed all day. Michael showed and was very very nice. He got started right away. When he installed the door bell he installed everything in my phone. We started talking about where to put a couple cameras (we asked not him). We ended up with a hub station and two cameras. It was a great experience for me. Great service very nice company to work with. read more

This company did not install equipment correctly then they rescheduled for the next 2 weeks. After waiting for about 2 weeks, their technician kept changing the time. I am still waiting. Their customer service is not only non-responsive they are rude. I wished I had gone with a security company instead of using this company. They also sold me subscription for discounts on equipment but the sale price was still higher than regular price. Terrible service. read more

Horrible. I set up an appointment to connect a C wire for my nest thermostat. They told me it was no problem and that it would be $99.99 for the diagnosis, and $64.99 to connect the C wire. On the day of the appointment a DishTV installer showed up to "diagnose " the issue. He was clueless and told me he had limited experience with the issue. He took a picture and went back to his truck, presumably to text someone. Ultimately, after an hour he suggested that I call an air condition repair service or an electrician, because it was beyond his knowledge level. I said no problem. I immediately called OnTech to get a refund of the $99.99. They told me they would issue me a credit and told me that they understood and that it was "so frustrating". Well weeks later my credit card bill comes in and the charge is there with no credit. I called again, and after an hour they told me that I would not get a credit because he was there and "diagnosed" the problem and that I should read the terms and conditions, wherever they are. This is a company to call if you need someone to screw in a camera, if you have no mechanical ability. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND CALL A REAL PROFESSIONAL. I wish I could give zero stars but that's not an option. This was on Long Island in NY. read more

On November 11th I contracted with and paid, OnTech Smart Services, a division of Dish Network, to purchase and install a ring security system, 2 battery cameras, battery chargers, doorbell. In total I spend over $1200. In addition they talked me into signing up for $199 for their annual membership service (my mistake) On the day of installment I unfortunately paid them in full. After the doorbell was installed the installer told me he didn't have the rest of the equipment because they were out of stock. He assured me he would be back to complete the project by the end of the week. Long story short, I still do not have my products, no installation and OnTech refuses to answer my emails requesting a refund for the products and services never received. They owe me over $700 and I can't get a response to my email or any other communication. I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general's office of Consumer Affairs but in the mean time I strongly recommend you do not do business with OnTech a division of Dish Network read more

I paid $50 to have a technician come to my house and help inform me on which cameras to properly choose exactly from Ring so I did not fall into issues and then have to deal with exchanges/returns etc. When the installer came he told me I needed an adapter/out let installed by an electrician which I came to find out I did NOT. This led to the first incorrect purchase, the second camera he suggested for another angle I came to find out was not the correct one and I had to buy the one that already came with mounting. This is now after I placed my order with Ring and have contacted them and the order has been placed and on the way so they cannot stop it. This means I now have to wait another week for the products to arrive to then return them and then REORDER the cameras which I will have LOST my Black Friday discount on and hopefully receive those in another 2 weeks on top. This is an absolutely horrible company I will never use or recommend you to anyone for the headache you caused me. read more

Worst Company, Just horrible customer service and no knowledge of what they are installing. This company is the Ring rep to install your ring camera. They charge over $100.00, install a camera with solar panel. 90 days camera broken. Call Ring and they say have to charge it every 6 weeks (then why is there a solar panel? because it only trickle charges 10% WHAT?) well the camera is installed 17 feet on roof - if knew this would have had it installed lower so could get to it - Ring says it is in the installation instructions - SO WHY doesn't OnTech know that? Call OnTech and only will come in 1st 60 days - EVEN IF THEY INSTALLED IT WRONG. How crazy is that? I asked if they could waive this as it is only 30 days later and battery dead, can't get to it they need to come and reinstall it lower they said would get back to me and OF course, never gets back. If they are a company recommended by Ring then they should have known not to install higher than 9 feet - not the 17 feet they installed it. If you buy a Ring make sure you find some OTHER company to do an installation and don't think they know the installation instructions. Bait and switch company with Ring wholly responsible pushing it to OnTech who doesn't even care to offer assistance. Bad Bad Bad read more

I am very unhappy with OnTech's customer service. I purchased a google wired doorbell and it came with an insert card suggesting OnTech to help with installation. When they arrived, I was told they couldn't connect the wired doorbell I had, but they could sell me a battery operated one. And that the battery lasted 3 months. The battery lasted less than a week! I played with the settings so it would record less frequently and didn't see much of an improvement. So I contacted them asking for a replacement. They arrived with a new doorbell and switched them out. The battery life only improved slightly, 9 days between charges instead of a week. And it takes 4 hours to charge, so that's 4 hours without a doorbell. Then it started going offline, and nothing I could do would get it to reconnect. I contacted OnTech again within 60 days of the installation of the 2nd doorbell and they took forever to answer my questions and then said it was beyond 60 days and they told me to contact google directly. read more

We asked for help installing Nest Thermostat and a Nest vide bell we had purchased from Amazon. The tech who arrived told us that he cannot install equipment with open box (something never mentioned on their website, or hurried somewhere in a small print), even though it was obvious that the devices were new. In addition, he told us that the partícula thermostat we had bought would not work without a neutral wire due to not getting enough power (even though that thermostat was made specifically to work without a neutral wire), so he pushed on us the very expensive Nest Learning Thermostat which we did not need but had to buy on the spot. After not being able to get the thermostat he sold us working, he ran electircal wire to the power outlet from the thermostat he sold us- something he could have done with the less expensive newer model Nest Thermostat we had purchased from Amazon. About the bell - he said it was defective and we had to buy a bell from him. Total of unexpected $500 worth of equipment which, as it comes out, we did not need. The bell we had purchased from Amazon was perfectly fine - he was using the wrong bell power transformer. That said, we sill had to buy a video bell from him. I will not use this service again. read more

Ordered Google Nest Outdoor camera and paid for $99 installation so the technician could hardwire the camera through the attic. Technician (who was really nice btw) came out and said he was unable to hard wire the camera outside (which I think was him just being lazy since we had other cameras installed the SAME exact way by another company) so he just did the easy install outside that a teenager can do, however we still paid the $99 which being the nice person I am tried to come to terms with because he was dispatched out here to do the install so I just let it go. Ideally, I think he should have given me the option to install it myself since the "easy" install takes minutes and could've saved me $99 but that was never offered to me. We decided to purchase a second Outdoor camera and he went ahead and installed it without asking me and I was charged an extra $99! I called OnTech TWICE requesting a refund for never been given the choice and I was denied BOTH times because they said, "well the work was done there is nothing we can do". TERRIBLE BUSINESS ETIQUITTE! Refunding me the $99 would be nothing out of their pockets to satisfy a customer who has a strong case against them but they apparently don't care about customer experience or satisfaction so here I am exposing them publicly so they'll lose more than $99 in business due to their selfishness because I know this review will deter a few people from using them. This company is sketchy and apathetic about customer satisfaction because if they really did care, they would've refunded me my money and I would've written them a nice review on how they accommodated me. Look elsewhere for device installation this company doesn't deserve the business or respect. More importantly, if anything DOES go wrong they'll leave you high and dry without compensating anything. They don't care about the customer they just see dollar signs. Shame on this company. Despicable. read more

Maybe this will be updated when they actually show up... who knows. However, the customer service is terrible. I scheduled an appointment window from 12 to 2 PM. At 1:30, I get an email thinking stating that my new widow is from 2:30 to 3:45 PM. I had another appointment that I need to attend, that the new widow would not let me make. I rescheduled that appointment so that I could accommodate OnTech's tardiness. Rescheduling that appointment because of OnTech's tardiness made me incur a charge to my credit card. 3:45 PM comes and goes, and still no technician. In order to make the rescheduled appointment that I incurred a cost to rescheduled i would have to leave my apartment at 5:00. It is now past 4:00 PM and they still haven't arrived which would make me have to reschedule my other appointment and incur another loss. I received no update after 3:45 PM to indicate that there was a further delay, so I called customer service to reschedule my technician and to request some sort of credit for (1) their changing the window which caused me to incur a financial loss and (2) for their failure to update me after the window that they said my technician was delayed to came and went. Long story short, they gave me some excuse as to why they can't give a credit despite their own ineptitude after agreeing to fulfill a service in a widow agreed upon. To be honest, google recommended this service. I highly recommend google stop promoting this company because they are terrible. It should be called OnTech Inept Services, because that has been my experience thus far. read more
