What a neat find at Haven City Market! Located adjacent to Native Son, Raffael's is a step into a…read moreSouthwestern vibe where guests can relax with their drinks away from the lively atmosphere of HCM. One of the coolest things about a speakeasy is the transition into the space. Here, there's a walkway and corner, then turn into the candle and subtle lit space. It's a small thing? But that bit of walk helps distance the mind and feel open to the special space. There is a bar with seating, a long high top, and bench & table booth-ish type seating. The colors are warm, reminiscent of sitting in a western sunset. Music plays - jazzy, alternative, happy music. We were greeted and seated by the friendly hostess, then welcomed warmly by the magic maker himself: the bartender! And what delightfully unique, and dare I say daring, concoctions he made! The cocktails each had a spin, an ingredient, something *different* from the norm, making it challenging for my friend and I to narrow down which delights to try! Even the popcorn was unique, with chili and nutritional yeast savoriness that was the perfect complement to our cocktails. My friend felt the Silver Cloud was quite the adult version of a smoothie dessert! She got ideas...I adored my Last Word. It was refreshing with the green chartreuse and incredibly not-put-down-able. Next up, she had the Bandolier. It was a very unique taste to her, pretty puckery, so the bartender - who checked on us regularly for impressions - added a bit more pineapple. That did the trick! My next was the Boulevardier, which was uniquely and deliciously twisted with the coffee and salt. Absolute yum!!! Even though there's a 90 minute limit, on this Thursday night there was plenty of space between imbibers, and we weren't pressured in any way to move along. Thank you, as we were due for a proper catch up. One thing we did notice, is that once there were more folks chatting and laughing, it became a bit echo-y and harder to hear. On a busier night, I imagine the ambience we first experienced- quieter, mellow, chill vibe - likely changes to more robust and lively. Either way, this place is a feels-far-away retreat worth "traveling" to.

The music isn't too loud which was nice as well. My wife and I tried several drinks between the two of us. All of them were very good. The staff were friendly and personable. Be aware that you may want to use the restroom prior to entering. If you have to use the restroom while inside, you'll have to exit outside and walk back into the market space to use one. This is a bar only, so plan accordingly to eat as there are no food items to order inside. 10/10 would recommend and my wife and I were glad we stopped in. This will be our go to local cocktail bar from now on.

Basically it's a cover charge as the 80s bar does a cover on the weekends too. Be sure to check in with the host on the left. They have you wait in line until the next group is done with their timed seating. We had a 10pm reservation and probably waited about 15-20 minutes to enter. Walking through the 80s bar it gives off very clubby and busy vibes so it was hard to imagine a speakeasy at the end of it. I was actually shocked upon entrance and really impressed with the detail and ambiance. It is a small space and keep in mind you may share a table with another group if necessary. The drinks were actually phenomenal. On the pricier end of $22 and up but we're so good. I loved the horror theme play on the cocktail names! The candy man was delicious and my favorite. The Lester drink came in a light bulb with an edible flower and that was definitely an experience! My hubby loved the Samara which was a delicious espresso. I wish I could have tried more cocktails but our timed seating was up (90minutes). Overall, I was a bit worried with all the poor reviews but we had a good time and definitely got you into the spooky season spirit! The staff was also very kind. I do wish they had more horror actors but still a good time. Tip: parking ample and free All ordering is done on your phone so if you have Apple Pay it makes it so much quicker to close out the tab when ordering.

We get wristbands and assigned a table. We were told to wait in another line but we were let in shortly after. We bypass the 80's bar and go to a back room to make it feel like a "speakeasy." They gave us some ground rules and led us to our tables. At the table you have a QR code where you can place drink orders. The bar brings out your drinks to the table. Service was fairly quick and friendly. The drinks were all sweet cocktails and in the "Matterhorn Lodge" theme. There is a 2 drink minimum purchase (per guest) and each drink is $20+ so it can add up. I'm more of a beer person but some of the drinks were delicious. There was one that tasted like Christmas morning (cinnamon, clove, milky) and another drink that had popping boba that was also fun. If you're a butterfinger or peanut butter fan, there was one drink that tasted like it (you'll see it on the drink menu). I wouldn't say the drinks were strong. They do a good job of enforcing the theme. They had a "Yeti" come out and interact with the tables. Good for photo ops. They also had a magician doing a few tricks, and I enjoyed that the most. The place was kept fairly chilly! Even the bathrooms had jokes and signage on the walls that alluded to the alps. Overall a great time. Small venue but pretty chill. Can be pricey. Take a sweater. Good for dates and small groups.

The venue itself has a small nook area to the side so it was used as a back drop for photos and cheki (polaroid taking), a check in area to meet the idols and pick up our DIY bouquets for the event), some cushioned chairs and tables to the side, and lots of circular tables and seating inside for the group to sit down and work on our bouquets. There's random wine themed decor throughout the venue and 2 TVs where one was just the random wallpaper generated and the second one being the offkai theme image. There was chill music being played through the venue but unsure if this was through the tech of the venue or the speakers that the even organizer brought with them. When they spoke on mics, it was easy to hear them no matter where people sat. There's a restroom in the back and if your event needs food or catering or is an actual wine themed event, there's a counter in the back. It was a slightly colder day, but temperatures were controlled inside. There wasn't an option to extend the time there even though the next event wasn't until several hours (like 5 I think), so we had to move our gathering next door.

Though we wished it was more crowded and poppin we made the best of it since the wine we had was really good. I tried the rose moscato that was absolutely amazing!!! The taste was very good. For my third glass I got the sparkling moscato and that was outstanding too!! The ambiance was perfect and set up cute! I'm sure if they had a dj on the weekends it would have been great!! The server Misty was very good, amicable, and very patient with telling us the menu options. It's really not many good options but you can order food from next door restaurant Cocina Serrano. Also, they have charcuterie board if that's what you like with your wine. I would try here again to support another woman black owned establishment. Come try here and the wine you won't be disappointed. They also have beer as well. -Marshay Dede

The atmosphere is always welcoming, especially on live music nights. The owner is incredibly friendly and makes it a point to personally connect with every guest, which makes the experience feel even more special and intimate. It is a smaller venue, so I highly recommend making reservations if you want guaranteed seating because once the live music starts, the place fills up FAST. But every single time I go, it's always a great experience. One thing I truly love most about this spot is how it naturally brings people together. I've met new friends just by sitting, chatting, and enjoying the music and wine. It's such a positive and inviting environment. If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by and showing support. And I absolutely have to add it's a Black-owned business, so let's continue supporting and pouring into businesses that create spaces like this for the community.

Mixed Experience at a Beautiful Wine Lounge - Reservation Strongly Recommended…read moreThe ambience here is genuinely lovely - dim lighting, stylish decor, and excellent music selection that created a sophisticated, relaxed vibe. I came alone to enjoy a quiet evening and try their wines, drawn in by the strong Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was uneven. I arrived without a reservation on a busy Saturday night and was initially told there were no tables available. Thankfully, another patron kindly offered me their extra small side table allowing me to stay - but I watched several groups get turned away at the door. Moral of the story: make a reservation. This place seems much better suited for larger groups, events, or celebrations than for solo visitors. Service felt stretched thin. The staff were pleasant but clearly affected service - they could definitely use more help on busy evenings. When I asked about a wine flight, I was told they were too busy to prepare one. Five to ten minutes later, I watched another table receive flights without issue, which was disappointing and made me feel overlooked as a single patron. I ended up chatting with a nearby group of six women who were also there for the first time based on reviews. We agreed the space is gorgeous and has potential, but our experiences were just "okay" overall. It's a beautiful spot with great music and atmosphere, but the operational hiccups and reservation policy make it tricky for walk-ins or solo guests. I probably wouldn't return personally, but if you're planning a group outing or special event, book ahead and you might have a much better time
