At first glance, I though OnPoint would be a good choice to replace Navy Federal. Being that I just got out of the Navy, I wanted something more regional that I knew I had access to since Navy Fed is not around the area at all. I could have not been more wrong.
The first day I went in there to open an account, Jordan was very helpful. I was unable to open an account because of Chase Bank not reporting a joint account as paid in full from 2008. Not their fault at all....however, the Ex-wife is. I got the matter cleared up with Chase Bank and proceeded the next day to continue the transaction. I should have known something was up when there was no manager on duty. The other account rep had no clue what she was doing. She said that she would not be able to open an account because the system had not been updated and that neither verbal or written confirmation of the situation being resolved from Chase would be accepted. I found out later that day, that was not true and that a letter would be accepted.
So I decided to wait for Jordan on Monday. Yet again, no manager on duty and this time Jordan's tune changed. Yet again, needed to see the system updated. Even though he had said a letter would do the first time. Now since I just got out, I am living at a "temporary address" while waiting to move to my permanent address, in a county served by them mind you, I have proof of this. When Jordan presented my case to another manager at a different bank, she declined to authorize an account because there was "too many exceptions". WTF do you mean too many exceptions!?! I asked if the manager knew I was a vet moving to a new job in the area and Jordan replied yes.
I would avoid at all cost. it was plain as day that my ex had ran up an account and then paid it off. Even Chase acknowledged that the account should have been reported back in 2008. On top of that, being a veteran meant nothing to them. Granted being a vet doesn't and shouldn't give us a totally free pass, but special consideration was not even given or thought of. So basically, I would suggest any other credit union over this sorry excuse of a financial institution. read more
