Hi, we are regular customers and come to this location often because we live down the street. Today we had a very uncomfortable experience with one of the cashiers, an older man we had never seen before. We ordered two plates, and for one of them I asked for no vegetables and extra rice. His response was, "it already comes with rice," and when I said that was fine because I just like rice, he suddenly raised his voice and said, "I don't care as long as you paid for it." It was said loudly and in a rude tone, which made us feel embarrassed in front of other customers. We didn't know how to react at the moment, but it completely ruined what should have been a normal, enjoyable visit. The kid's menu is good. Each kid's menu selection came with a fruit pouch and apple juice! We were staying at a hotel nearby and this Hawaiian restaurant was across the street within walking distance. I wasn't too hungry so I got the Crispy Shrimp as an appetizer and my husband shared his other spam musubi with me. I really loved the circular shape and texture of my shrimp! I'll start with the musubi. First time I've ever had it in my life and it was yummy. I've seen it on all the Hawaiian bbq places' menus and it had looked so good I had to try it. The presentation was excellent and the neat little package didn't break apart when I ate it. Didn't think spam could be so good lol, but it was. The fire chicken was... fire (hehehe). There was an excellent ratio of meat and vegetables and the meat was seasoned really well. I'm a huge fan of spice, so I was a little disappointed by the lack of heat, but the flavor was super good regardless. The rice was well cooked, and the macaroni salad was delicious. We have always been a fan of this place. After moving from LA to the OC, we were sad that there wasn't a location close to us. Once we found out this place was opening up, we had to come to order our usual family meal. First off, the restaurant is located in a plaza with other restaurants and a Starbucks. It is also down the street from Disneyland and the Garden Walk. So of course, this place gets busy, well the parking lot does. The parking lot is kinda small so may be hard to find a parking and may need to circle around a few times. The parking spaces in front of restaurants are 15 minute parking so basically just to pick up so beware. This location does also get busy and I am guessing because of all the tourists and hotel guests in the area. The restaurant itself is pretty small and when it is busy you may have a hard time finding a space to sit. There are some outdoor seating but on a hot day, no one wants to be outside eating. The dining area also tends to get a little messy and unattended because they are focused on the serving. Hence, the four star review. Overall, food is great. I highly recommend getting the family meal which comes with your choice of 3 meats, a container of macaroni salad, and a container of white rice. You can substitute for all rice or all mac salad. Both are pretty yummy so it is up to you. My favorite meats here are the chicken katsu, bbq beef, and teriyaki chicken. I also recommend to order some spam musubi because it is yummy. All in all, Ono is a great place and I highly recommend stopping here when in the area. If you are at the parks or staying in a local hotel, stop by to take some food to go. One quick disclaimer is that this review is based off of take-out/delivery service. Just visiting the area and staying in the hotel, we opted to order through Uber Eats for convenience. We had Hawaiian BBQ before through L&L Hawaiian BBQ as well as other Hawaiian BBQ throughout the country as well as the island so we knew what we were looking for and what to expect. We ordered the family meal combo which included a healthy platter of white rice (6 scoops), a generous amount of macaroni salad (6 scoops), and three meat platters that had generous amounts of both chicken katsu, BBQ chicken, and beef kalbi. We added an order of spam masubi to that which was more than enough for our family of four (2 adults and 2 young children - ages 6 and 3). The meal was more than enough for us, and was eaten as leftovers the following day. The chicken katsu had the perfect crisp around the edges while the breading held the perfect crunch. The chicken BBQ was rather standard while the beef kalbi was tender and did not require much effort to eat from the rib bones. My little one devoured the chicken katsu, while my oldest child loved the BBQ chicken. The rice they used was great, while the bed of lettuce greens that the meats were on top of were refreshing and cut the heavy BBQ and fried taste of the meats.
