All kinds of fruit and vegetables were available for sale along with fresh poi, filipino pastries, and a variety of fresh herbs. Half of the large parking lot at Kapolei Community Park is closed to allow the vendors to set up. They are all on the basketball court side of the park. Prices were really cheap and the vendors were really friendly. I definitely would go again. I am super happy with a bag of five tomatoes that I picked up for only $2! If you want Thai basil, it is only 50 cents a bunch, and pastries start at only 50 cents among lots of other items. Parking is street parking. There were lots of parking available. One thing though is that this farmer's market is a really early one ending at around 730 or 8 am. Cash only and open only on Sundays. Here's a YouTube video that I made of this place: http://youtu.be/prBcnXp5VI8

Among the selections: sweet onions, broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, basil (already made pesto tonight!), oranges, apples, potatoes (all kinds, including purple sweet), beans, lemons, key limes, and apple bananas. I will DEFINITELY be back. One downside is that you have to arrive early (between 7 and 7:30 a.m.). After that, they're getting ready to tear it down, so you almost feel as if you're being rude while they're cleaning up. Be sure to bring smaller bills and even coins. Also, pack some cloth grocery bags or bring a big purse.

They have a big selection of grocery items from Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thai and more. The main ones they import from are the ones I mentioned. There's also a huge selection of fresh and pre dried vegan and vegetarian meat (fully vegan) and tofu from Taiwan, Vietnam and Aloha Tofu (Hawaii local fresh tofu). There's only 2 places on the island that I know of that you can get these vegan Asian meats, which is so delicious, healthy with nature soy,m fibers, and has far less sodium and preservatives than the American beyond meat veg options. (Though I enjoy those to make western dishes from time to time) The customer service here is very nice. They don't have staff walking around the store, but at checkout they are so nice and friendly, and always help you bag your items. Highly recommend! Amazing!

But if you want something a little more special, definitely look for the local vendors. There are some great spots with handmade items. A few of my favorites that I actually bought from and brought home and I am using: - Cheeky Beach: super cute beachwear by Vivian and her son (they also have a shop in Haleiwa) - Touch of a Goddess: handmade jewelry by a mother-daughter duo - Leonardo Dale Photography: beautiful photo art of the island now displaying at my house. There's a ton to see, so go with time, it's a big market. They also have food and sometimes live music. Admission is $2 per person (cash only), and I'd recommend bringing cash since a lot of vendors don't take cards.

Parking is available in the back and also by the tram station parking lot - just need to walk a little bit. Cost remains $1 for Kama'ainas *locals) and active duty military, $2 for all else. A great place to purchase touristy items, but also stuff you don't think you need until you see it. Check it out! I'm glad the authorities realized the need to keep the Aloha Swap Meet.

Giving 5 stars for Katy, who works at the Pearlridge Farmers Market location in Saturdays. She is a ray of sunshine, with her great smile and loves to share samples of their product. Be careful, though because when you taste the delicious products you'll have to get something! Their passion fruit habanero is amazing with cream cheese and crackers or as a glaze for meats. If you combine it with cream cheese it softens the heat. They do have one with ghost peppers or Caroline Reaper peppers but beware - I bought it for my friend who loves heat and she said it's really hot! They have amazing butters - try any of their chocolate butters and you'll think you are in heaven! Note-these are seasonal so there may be different ones available when you visit. Award winning Coconut black chocolate is absolutely amazing, rich, and decadent and the best way to eat this is to get a big spoonful then just sit there and savor the flavor. The Kona coffee dark chocolate is also amazing. Hard to decide which is better! Got a jar if passion fruit Hawaiian pepper (chili pepper) smoked pineapple Kentucky whiskey to use as a glaze for meat. Can't wait to use it. These also make great gifts to send to or give to suiting folks from the mainland to give them a taste of Hawaii. I like the POG jam for islanders who have relocated to the mainland because it's like a taste of home. Kona coffee butter and mango are also divine. I have the mango for me...! I also got a jar of the mango honey and it's marvelous, too! These are high quality and a bit pricey, but after going to the craft fair at the Blaisdell, the prices are not too much more if not comparable. ...AND they are available weekly! If you go and sample a flavor you like, be sure to ask if it's seasonal (such as mango) or not. If it's seasonal - get it. It may not be available again until the next season. Me

The long bean, medium beans, and string beans are FRESH! The bananas are offered at a great price! Fresh pumpkin flowers, bitter melon leaves, kaffir lime leaves, thai ginger, tomatoes, papayas, avocados. Stop by and check it all out. They sell delicious fresh spices to make your own Thai Curry, YUM!! They sell shredded green papaya to make papaya salad.

We left some of it out and ate it five hours later and it was STILL delicious, even all cold. Even the best restaurant stuff you save isn't THIS good later on. I don't like that I spilled this secret spot, but I really hope he opens his own restaurant one day, if he wants to. I would eat his pasta and bread every day and enjoy every pound that I put on!
