I popped into Ono bowls on a whim, hungry and with limited time to seek out options. I was greeted by a very friendly individual who helped me pick out an acai bowl with delicious peanuts, so cheers to great customer service! The place itself has only a few tables for eating, though there is plenty of seating outside on Quimby. The vibe is pure wellness, with yoga advertisements, specialty drinks for cleanses, and plenty of other healthy options. I thought it was a bit overpriced for some of the options, but not out of the ordinary for what most bowl places are charging these days. Though this isn't my favorite bowl place in the area, I do think it's a nice option to have in a pinch! read more

I've had some decent experiences at Ono Bowls before but I feel like they've really gone downhill. Food-wise, my açaí bowl tasted like it was 90% sugar to me. It was so sickeningly sweet that I ate almost exclusively the fruit. Bummer. As for the seating options, they have a white leather couch inside that surprised me by being a wooden frame in disguise. I actually got a bruise on my thigh from how worn down the cushioning was. Outside, they have a scratched up cork board being used as a table. And the young kids that they hired to work there were too busy catching up on gossip to say anything for the first few minutes I was there. Using the word "fresh" anywhere on the menu is disingenuous -- Compared to a place like Zest in Fairfield that makes smoothie bowls right in front of you. Coconut bowl was frozen, pure sugar. Fruit was freeze dried. Granola was added when asked for no granola. No peanut (which was a listed ingredient). Biggest waste of $10 and driving out of my way for this. Ate three bites and threw it right out. If that staff wasn't so young I would have asked for a refund. Never leave reviews but this was so pitiful it needs a review. The low star reviews here are accurate. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but this was terrible. Just look at the google reviews. Update: spoke to owner/manager who would not issue a refund but offered to honor another item from their menu. She stated that it is not made fresh. It's bought from a 3rd party that does add sugar. While the owner explained to me she wasn't intentionally treating my mom poorly, my mom watched her make several orders while mom was sitting around. The owner had the ability to chat up her preferred "regulars" but couldn't be bothered to say to mom "it'll just be another minute because we are preparing your toppings" or ANYTHING at all. Excuses like "we are only 4 months old" and "we are multi-racial" are a joke. Communication skills and respect for all humans are elementary basics when dealing with the public. I don't typically write reviews- especially bad ones. This is my first time visiting Ono Bowls and I was super excited to try it as I hadn't had a pitaya + coconut bowl in ages. I placed my order and everything was fine but it took an upwards of 20 minutes to get my bowl and the place was empty and there were THREE employees. I finally get my bowl, eat it, whatever, and the moment I get home I had severe food poisoning (for context I've had all of the ingredients before and didn't eat anything else but the bowl that day). I was trying to think why I could've gotten sick from eating here, and I remembered the employees not wearing gloves, not washing the blenders properly, and what seemed just like a messy kitchen. Came here to grab a pitaya bowl I was so happy with my bowl! I know a bunch of these places are popping up, pliable sort of taking over, but this place was so much better! I've been trying out some new places to get some different balls and I loved my my Maha bowl! The bull had a pitaya base, some sort of granola, pineapple, strawberry, and a drizzle of some sort of honey that mixed perfectly with everything. Oh, and it was also topped with coconut flakes, so yummy! I called ahead for pickup since I knew parking was going to be an issue in Westfield. They had everything all ready for me when I got there and all the staff seems really friendly and nice behind the counter. Small place sandwiched on Quimby Street. I know shops rotate a lot over here but I hope this one's stays! I loved the variety of their menu, plenty of Pattaya and acai Bulls to choose from, they even had a make your own option which I've never seen at other places before. The combos are endless! It is probably the worst smoothie I've ever had. I drink smoothies almost daily and I can promise you I won't be back to this location. The smoothie taste like I'm drinking a purred stalk of celery. My coworkers didn't believe me, and now they are all hooked (and they are very picky women, so that says a lot). ;) It is delicious, fresh, and amazing each and every time. Honestly, not the best acai bowl I've had, if I'm being honest, it's probably the worst. My acai first off was literally frozen, had chunks that were so hard I had to wait for it to melt. Granola was ok. I was the only person there when I ordered and they still took quite awhile to finish making one bowl. If you want to try a good acai bowl, go to cranford's fresh press juice, they make way better acai bowls. I'm used to acai bowls being $10 but for the amount I got and taste, I would rather go to playa bowl in montclair. Overall, very eh. Cute place though. read more

I have tried acai bowls at several different establishments and this is by far the best in the area. Not too sweet, taste really fresh, and hits the spot. I always get tropic :) It's mostly high school kids that run the place, I'm sure the owner pops in here and there, but they can sometime be unprofessional. The price is reasonable for what it is and the environment is bright and lovely. There are seating options in the front and then a whole area in the back with tables, couches, books, and more. They have wifi and want to get people to come in and spend time. They have several juice options, including a build your own - beets, ginger, kale, all that. The amount of food in the bowls have significantly decreased and the fruit both times I've been was just thrown in and sloppy. Just tried a juice, tastes good. #9 called Hungry Heart, a combo of Kale Cucumber Celery Carrot Apple. It's orange like the color of carrot juice, the sunlight in the picture doesn't show the color right. Seems a comfy appointed place, was busy so seems popular! They have a loyalty punch card at register you can get, the card has spots for them to punch for bowls, smoothies, or juice purchases. Pitaya fyi is also called dragonfruit, had no idea what pitaya was but now I do, I've had fresh dragonfruit many times before. There was a sign in the window that had a picture of the fruit that said Pitaya aka Dragonfruit. Didn't try the bowls yet so dunno how their pitaya bowls are but maybe next time. read more
