For my 1200th review, I saved for this special place. To me this place is a speakeasy to home cooked Malaysian food in a juice bar in downtown Westfield. I recently moved around the area and saw a few pics from another social media app about this place. I was hesitant to go and to discover I was being food catfished or even worst they sold out since they only make the food on weekend. I went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and there were only 4 items to order. So, I order everything except for the veggie dumplings. I didn't want to be a pig and thrown down like that on my first visit. The food was great. Needed more salt and maybe a good chili oil but the flavors were there. I wish I was a lululemon soccer mom and brunch here every weekend. I'd complain about rich people problems and sip on ginger congee and say darling for no reason. Please please support this place. This is a cute little place. The ladies working were super nice & helpful with reviewing the specials. It seems like they have really good regulars that came in while I was there; they were identified by first name basis. I love that. Pro-Tip: if you want to know the food specials for the day, check out their story on IG. I ordered the chicken congee, loh mai gai/sticky rice in lotus leaf, chicken laksa, & the clay pot meat with rice. My favorite was the clay pot & the crunchy pieces of rice in it. Yums. It did take 20 mins to cook bc it's a "made to order" meal. The laksa was packed with flavor & gave my mother's laksa a run for her money. I lasted ordered a matcha tea & a Thai milk tea. I bookmarked this place after hearing about it on the local Facebook group I'm in and it wasn't the smoothies or acai bowls that caught my attention but their hot food "specials". Our family was doing some last minute shopping in Westfield and needed a quick bite so we decided to stop by. We started with the Ang Ku Kueh or sweet potato glutinous rice with mung bean filling, which sounds totally unappealing but was super tasty. Even my picky 4 year old daughter ate one. We shared the chicken pot stickers which were good. My daughter said, "grandma makes these at home," as she partook, so I guess she approves. My husband and I both had the laksa. It had 2 types of noodles, shrimp, dumplings, fried tofu, bean sprouts and eggplant. Not bad at all and was very "homestyle". Perfect on a cold winter day. My husband was sick and lost his voice so they recommended a "wah mui" or umeboshi (sour/pickled plum) drink that he said was delicious. I had the macha latte which was good and not too sweet. There no Malaysian food in this area. So I was happy when this place started offering different homemade Malaysian dishes on the menu. I follow this place on Facebook and Instagram so I see what their specials are each week. Now it's never going to be 1:1 taste compare to what you get in Malaysia but it's pretty close especially when you can't physically travel to Malaysia and if you are someone like me who can't cook. I tried the white coffee today and it brought back memories of me walking on the streets of Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia as I am trying to cool down from the heat with my ice coffee. So I called on my way home from work and placed an order to pick up for him - without issue. On arrival, I realized that the shop had already closed, but the owner was inside waiting for me to pick up. So kind!! I thanked her and told her I was bringing the porridge to my sick son, and she insisted on making him a special herbal tea remedy.
