Food is outstanding. While you eat outside it's well worth the trip from Elkhart. I've also carried out if it was for an evening meal.

Tl;dr - we loved it and are looking forward to coming back here many more times! So it isn't a large space. But we didn't have to wait for a table. There is also a somewhat open kitchen for the curious diners who enjoy watching chefs at work. There's a printed menu but there are also many chalkboards on the walls around the small space that list the specials. Our service was fast and the place was well-staffed. We stuck to ordering off the regular menu except for our drinks. I was impressed by the prices of the drinks, especially the for mocktails. We also agreed that the prices for the merch were decent, especially the sweatshirt, which was only $35. My boyfriend, who is not a beer drinker, got the Vandermill apple cider ($5), made in Grand Rapids, MI. I got the 3 Floyd's Zombie Dust APA ($7.50), a famous Munster, Indiana brewery that has won a plethora of awards over the years. I got a little tipsy from it, ngl. We were craving different items to eat so my boyfriend got the Dean's Burger with wagyu beef and pork with a side of mac and cheese ($19). It was so juicy and the cheese pull was insane! I love brisket so I had to try theirs so I got the brisket sandwich with fries ($18). The brisket was delicious and the bun was of good quality. I had to add a little more sauce to it though. Also, the homemade ketchup tasted a bit apple butter-y! Crazy delicious! They said it had cloves in it. I tried to eat as slow as I could to make it last and was so sad when I finished my food. It was all soooo good! Overall, our meal cost a bit over $60 after tax and tip. We joined the rewards program and we WILL be back!

This place…read moresomehow turns barbecue, a cuisine built on patience, care, and flavor, into an expensive lesson in lowered expectations. The meat arrives dry, tired, and joyless, like it's been reheated emotionally as well as physically. Each bite feels less like a meal and more like an obligation. Smoke without flavor, seasoning without purpose, and textures that make you wonder if the kitchen has ever experienced moisture. The sauces don't enhance anything, they just sit there, confused, desperately trying to distract you from the fact that the food underneath is beyond saving. For the prices they charge, you'd expect something memorable. And it is memorable, just not in the way they're hoping. You'll remember how much you paid, how little you enjoyed it, and how fast you wished you'd gone literally anywhere else. This is the rare restaurant where you regret ordering while you're still chewing. The atmosphere tries to sell "rustic farm charm" but delivers "neglected barbecue joint that mistook vibes for effort." It's not cozy, it's not charming, and it certainly isn't worth planning a meal around. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. The Prized Pig isn't just bad barbecue, it's aggressively mediocre, which somehow feels worse. If you value flavor, money, or happiness, do yourself a favor and keep driving. This is not a destination. It's a warning.

I personally didn't care…read morefor the flavor of the pork and the meat was sitting in so much liquid (I assume it was water to keep it from drying out while traveling and waiting to be eaten). We were under the impression that it would be a half pig but turns out it was cut up in pans ready to eat and it was all dark meat so I'm assuming it was all pork butts that he roasted. Don't get me wrong, I love pork butts I just thought it was going to be a 1/2 pig so there would be some loin in with the rest of the dark meat. It was served with buns (just average store buns). The house-made corn dip with chips was really good and spicy. The cowboy caviar with chips was also good. It was corn, beans, peppers and tomatoes. It could've used some salt and it was a bit watery but I still liked it. The baked beans were alright, nothing special. Small beans with pulled pork, brown sugar and bbq sauce. They were also a bit runny but they seemed to thicken up a bit the longer they sat on the burner keeping warm. I wasn't a fan of the mac & cheese. I liked that they used cavatappi pasta, but it was very bland and was really soupy. I later read the menu to see that my assumption of it being made with cheese sauce was accurate. There was no baked cheese on top that I think would've helped maybe. The potato salad was made with quite large chunks of potato (larger chunks than I prefer) and they were a bit undercooked in my opinion. There was also black olives and carrots in it which I also did not like. Most of us questioned if it was store bought potato salad with added olives in it. The cole slaw was nothing special. It was very large pieces of shredded cabbage & carrots and seemed like maybe it came right from GFS and into a pan. They did bring 4 different kinds of bbq sauce that they make that were great. I personally wouldn't be ordering from here when I see them at a fair/festival/event nor will I pay to have them cater an event I'm hosting. I am glad I was able to try it and form my own opinion. I've even world class bbq and this was not it. I've attended Memphis in May a few times and also been to the Carolina's and Texas for bbq that have won many awards so I do feel like my opinion of this is accurate.

It was one of the better restaurant experiences that we've had recently. Located a mile north of the Indiana Toll Road, we found this place based on a search knowing this area was where we wanted to stop for dinner on our traverse to Chicago. It looked like a fun spot from the description and was certainly something different. An additional consideration was that we had our 21-month-old granddaughter and needed a place where we could so find something that appealed to her. Burgers are usually a good bet. The location on Simonton Lake was beautiful. It facilitated a treat before we ever stepped into the restaurant. There was a family of swans on the water with the parents and their six cygnets. They were indeed fun to watch. The lake created a wonderful setting from the outset. Upon entry, we were greeted by the friendly staff and were accommodated with a booth in the main dining room quickly. Our waitress, Kayla, attended to us right away and did a terrific job. We were well cared for during our visit. The food was delivered in a timely fashion without undue delay. We started with an order of Onion Rings, which turned out to be a great choice. They were crispy with flavorful breading that was not so thick as to be overwhelming. We also tried a couple of cocktails. While we like a glass of wine with our meal, we're not really cocktail people. But these intrigued us. I tried the Peach Sangria, which was very good. My wife had the Jameson Ginger Sparkler. Jameson and Ginger Ale has been a favorite of hers since we experienced the Jameson Factory tour in Dublin several years ago. This concoction was a nice take on that theme. Both drinks were "dangerous" because they were so tasty that you didn't notice they contained alcohol. In spite of the fact that this is primarily a burger pub, we found two salads that intrigued us for our mains. One was actually in keeping with the theme of the restaurant, as my wife had the Flippin Burger Salad. As the name suggests, it featured burger on greens with her choice of honey mustard dressing. She shared that with our granddaughter. They were both happy with the choice. I had the Flippin Whitefish Salad. The fish was nicely done and it seemed appropriate since we were by the lakeshore. I found it to be quite satisfying with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Unfortunately, they no longer make their Mango Chardonnay Dressing that used to accompany this salad. I've never had the chance to try it but it sounds like they should consider bringing it back. The total for our meals with food, drinks, tax and tip was $68. At $34 each as well as having enough to feed a toddler, we were very happy with this given the experience. We'll look forward to a return visit now that we know this place is there.
