A Most Disappointing "Experience" indeed. One Stop was highly recommended to us by a friend, and we had no reason to doubt them for a moment. We were thrilled to have blinds and shutters in our lovely new Lenexa home, and our sales representative seemed to be competent, even if a touch weary and condescending. We agreed to double shutters in the front facing room, motorized shades in the high windows in the kitchen, and high to low manual shades in the bedrooms. Of course, our rep guaranteed that he would personally oversee all work for the entire installation. Our order arrived ahead of scedule, but this would be the last positive note in our dealings with the company. The very first issue was that our motorized blinds were NOT included. Our "hands on" rep was nowhere to be found, and at no point was our shipment inspected before being sent out. Neither was one of our costly shutters damaged. We'd been pumped up on Hunter Douglas being the premium manufacturer used by OSD, but after this was pointed out, we were informed that "lately there had been some slip ups" with the products. Of course, we were told that this "had never happened before" (and yet it just did). Oh, and of course our rep showed up and admitted NOTHING, but apologized for misrepresenting himself, as he never really meant to supervise our job personally. The owner sent my wife a lovely email offering to "look into" our situation, etc, and promised to complete the installation as per our agreement, which we found to be the lowest bar any reputable business could achieve. Finally, our purchase of the motorized units had been agreed upon on a larger cell size, but the rep signed onto it without bothering to explain that they were not offered in the larger size. The care we were given was shoddy at best, careless at worse. This business continues to enjoy high ratings, but should anyone ask, we are unable to offer anything close to a recommendation. We had One Stop out for a service call when one of our shades stopped working. We were charged for two service calls because there was to be a diagnostic call and one for install of a new motor if needed. The tech came diagnosed the problem. We had tried to change the batteries, but when he did it the shade worked. Yeah! So, no second visit needed. I assumed we'd get a refund for the visit we didn't need. When I talked with Brennan he told me that the service call charge was the same price as the price for the two visits I paid for in advance. He told me that they charge this much to change batteries because it's typically on shades that are difficult to reach. This one is not high at all. The tech used a stepstool and my batteries. They refused to refund for the second service visit. I've spent thousands of dollars with them. They've lost a customer and any referrals from me. Brandon, I appreciate your response, but that simply isn't true. The battery change service call was twice what I paid for two service calls. That is what your employee told me. $218.00 is NOT a nominal fee. After the owner's response to my review I called Brennan again and discussed my issue. He told me service calls are all $218 and my two calls should have been double that. Though earlier he told me that battery calls are more expensive. Based on my dissatisfaction and posting of negative reviews he gave me a refund for half of my charge. I appreciate the refund, but I still feel communication and knowledge by some staff as to what service calls cost is lacking. A customer shouldn't have to work so hard to get a straight answer. read more

We love our motorized shades and the convenience that this provides for large windows. But, their service after the sale is very poor. Tried to get a shade that was previously repaired fixed. It needs a replacement motor and over the course of 3 months still don't have it scheduled least of all repaired. Now have a second shade showing the same problems. Honestly, I would've given a 5 star rating, but there was a problem with our initial install, so it wasn't completely seamless. However, they owned the mistake, and fixed as quickly as I think they could. The Good: There wasn't a better service out there to get an estimate in a short time frame based on information provided. I measured as best I could for the windows, and they got me an estimate immediately. No one had to come out or set up an appointment or anything, just a here's what it could cost. Loved that we could do it all over email to see if we were even in the same ballpark. Install was INCREDIBLY quick. We had 15 windows done it what felt like 45 minutes. The crew was so professional and knocked out the job and everything looks great. They were consultative at the end of the install and gave great tips and tricks to making the blinds last. The Bad (seems harsh, it really wasn't THAT bad): We were missing two windows, and had to wait a few weeks for them to come from the manufacturer. They were great about owning the mistake and they jumped on it as soon as they possibly could. Overall, I would absolutely use OSD again, and would expect a 5 Star experience in future opportunities. read more

As a follow up to my previous complaint about motorized shade problems, One-Step decorating reached out and worked with the supplier to replace motors on two shades giving me problems. We were able to work within the warranty period so both costs of replacement motors and service calls were not charged. Let me start by saying that the lady was VERY helpful. She even pulled the wallpaper book that I mentioned when I called. Unfortunately, we were limited to a small selection of modern wallpaper books. Even those were not all truly modern. I know we are in KC, but is it that everyone has flowers on their wall because they LIKE flowers or is it because that is the only thing being offered? I wish someone would venture to think outside the box and offer something that I haven't seen 100 times all over town. I really want to order my paper from them but York (the wallpaper I selected ) charges shipping when ordering paper through One Stop Decorating, and I can save over $30 if I order the identical paper from Home Depot as they do not pass on shipping when ordering. We had our blinds installed by One Stop Decorating Shawnee location. For one, the blinds look great but the service has been below par. Brian, who does the installations is wonderful but I believe there are some issues with their scheduling department. They showed up two hours late for the initial installation appointment and insisted the time I had was not the correct appointment time even though I had the appointment confirmation email from them. Today (8/29/2016) we had an appointment that I scheduled two weeks ago (8/16/2016) to have one of our blinds fixed as the motor quit working. Once again, I have the confirmation email that the appointment was at 11:30 am and at 11:45 am I called their office as we had not heard anything and no one had showed up. They again insisted that my appointment time was at 1:00 pm even though I had the confirmation email from them. Being that my fiance and I both have jobs, it is difficult to accommodate our schedule as we both work at least 30 minutes from our home. We had to reschedule yet again as we were not prepared for a 1:00 pm appointment and had scheduled our meetings for the day around the fact that we were told via phone and email that our appointment was at 11:30 am. This is completely unacceptable service and absolutely needs to be addressed. read more

I am pretty upset with the outcome of my OSD project. I recently moved into a new townhouse and needed blinds and something for my back sliding door. The first thing that the salesman measured was the deck door and subsequently the windows both up and downstairs. He quoted my a price of about $1500 for what I thought was everything. When the installer arrived today, everything was ready for installation EXCEPT for the item for the sliding glass door. I checked my order and it, in fact, was not on the order. I suppose I'm at fault for not double checking the order but being extremely busy (I'm a doctor) I assumed the salesperson would simply take care of everything without me having to check behind him. The sliding door item was the first thing he measured! Needless to say I am totally and thoroughly pissed with them regarding this result!!!!!! read more

Bob showed me various products to help me make a final decision on my windows and took the time to make sure that all of the products matched or coordinated with my trim and paint colors. I worked with Susan A. She was very knowledgeable. I had a very good idea of what I wanted in the way of cell shades and blinds. She showed me my choices, we discussed colors and I made selections. She did all the measurements and I made a deposit. Wait time for an install was approximately three weeks which I thought was reasonable. They called and set up an appointment and sent an email reminder the day before was well as making a phone call. The install was great. Brian and Matt removed the old shades and blinds. At $5 a window a good deal. They quickly installed the new shades and blinds, demonstrated operating, and gave me materials on cleaning. They also took all of the old shades and blinds with them, which meant I didn't have to try to fit them in my trash. I need to replace shades on five more windows and will definitely use them again. read more
