In the infant room, each teacher is assigned to the same 4 infants daily. I was very impressed with this as each teacher learns their assigned infants, rather than the infants being passed around and cared for by different people every day. My daughter had horrible eczema as an infant and her teacher was EXTREMELY helpful in getting it under control by following the skin care regimen the pediatrician recommended. My daughter was always clean, happy and healthy. I never had to worry that my baby wasn't being cared for. The piece of mind alone was invaluable. My daughter is now getting ready to enter the school's pre-k program. She has learned so much throughout the years at Laurel tree and I am confident that she will be prepared, if not over prepared, for kindergarten next year. I am always impressed at the creative and hands-on ways the children are educated. I will forever be indebted to Laurel Tree Academy, their owners, teachers and other staff. I have had my kids at two places for care before and after school in south Jersey, this being the…read moresecond. The staff here is polite and accommodating. The cost is very reasonable. However, I am disappointed in the overall experience we had with my son. From the get go, we told the director he had a few developmental delays , one of which was late to potty train. He was three when he started, and there were at least two classes for kids his age. We were assured he would be placed with kids of similar needs. I learned a few weeks in that this was not the case, as one of his afternoon teachers made a comment about how "everyone else in his class is trained". Once we had begun the process of training with him a few months later, both at home and with the support of his public preschool teacher and IEP, he had frequent accidents at Under the Sun. The Director questioned whether the preschool teacher was lying to me about whether he was going on the toilet at school. Then I was told by the Director that my son had to be put in pull ups instead of the underwear that we were working so hard to get him used to because "there are too many other children in his class and to clean him up takes one of the teachers away from all the other kids." Again, didn't think he would be the only one In this situation! Finally, when the training was taking a longer time than optimal, the Director asked me if I was sure if speech was the only problem he had been diagnosed with. As a parent, one can imagine how this broke my heart. My son Is quiet and shy when he first meets new people, I get it. However I was repeatedly told by the afternoon care team that he doesn't speak and they "are really frustrated." Yet, when we put him on a different summer program at a nearby facility, he is a different kid. He is bubbly, talks constantly to everyone, including the teachers, and is overall just so much happier. I was quite disappointed at the fact that it did not seem like the morning and afternoon teachers did not communicate with each other. When I would pick him up in the afternoon, that staff would not know what my husband had brought in or discussed with the morning staff. This was frustrating. I was not present during the day to fully take in his entire experience, and I know he was fed, changed when soiled about 80% of the time, and safely put on and taken off the bus by UTS. However, these other experiences just put a very sour taste in my mouth and I was relieved to be able to take both kids out of this center at the end of the school year.

The Director Seema told us that since he is crying a lot, the teacher is unable to concentrate on other kids and wanted us to drop him. The director told us the my kid is not mentally prepared or matured and he is crying a lot and doesn't understand what we were talking and also said he was very anxious. However, my kid went there only for twice a week and he went there just for four days. He was dropped from the playschool in just four days and they didn't even wanted us to try my kid out for a month at least. We in fact requested them to increase from twice a week to four days week or at least thrice a week so that he has some continuity. They declined this too. Shouldn't they have given enough time for my kid to settle down? But they didn't given enough time for my kid to settle down and insisted on dropping my kid from the playschool just because he was crying. They should have in fact tried to instill some confidence to parents but they didn't. When they dropped my kid, I requested them to refund the registration fees at least. Why would someone want to pay the registration fees when they drop a kid in playschool in just four days. They said the registration fees can't be refunded as well. They are totally unprofessional and I felt very stressed out as a parent leaving my kid in this playschool. The main problem is that the school is understaffed and there is only one teacher for 10 students.

Two years later, we are moving to Oregon. Lena loves going to "school" (TLC) to this day. She…read moredidn't want to leave her friends and we didn't want her to leave them either. After growing from a baby into a toddler, I knew I had to review TLC in new eyes and see if it was the place for my daughter. Just because it was a good place for her as a baby doesn't mean it was the place I wanted her to be as she grew through her toddler years... From the time she was 2-2 1/2 years old, she was coming home teaching me Spanish words and doing rolls and such she learned in Kick n' Flips, an add-on class offered by TLC. She is well versed with her numbers and even though she has yet to graduate to a pre-school class- she will this year- at TLC, they began teaching her those subjects early. She is learning how to swim as well thanks to TLC's pool open during the warm months. She rode a pony, petted farm animals, exercised in baby yoga classes (included in the tuition), created all sorts of textured and spatial art. She was exposed to different types of music, and danced her little heart out. I know she danced as well as other activities because they continue to post pictures of her and the other children attending TLC on Facebook. I love being able to go on to Facebook during the day and be surprised with a picture of her doing something or just smiling at the camera from that same day. I am searching here in Oregon for a place that will be as good for her as a child growing into her school-age years as TLC was. I haven't found a place that had such a small child-to-teacher ratio. And it was very helpful to be able to drop her off as early as 6:30 in the morning because as a nurse I often have to be at work at odd hours of the day. Then there is the small factor that wouldn't seem so important, the way TLC adds and rotates toys and structures with which the children play. The staff continues to be competent, patient, and intelligent. I have visited several places here and I have yet to find a home-away-from-home like Lena had since she was 6 months old.

Whenever I would drop off my child, my intuition always knew that he was in great hands. The Director, Leslie Schubert, is precise in ensuring that all the staff are expertly trained and moreover, she hires staff that not only enjoy, but even love their job teaching and nurturing all the children. My son is now in a screened public school in New York City as of a few weeks ago but I wanted to share my positive experience as a way to say "Thank You" for all the love and support. OTR is a safe and happy place and the bonus, is all the learning and creativity that takes place. As a single Mom, knowing Over The Rainbow had my back by being a consistent resource in both my and my son's life, took so much of the pressure off of my shoulders. I am a research loon, and after comparing prices and discovering all the extra bells and whistles offered at Over The Rainbow, I chose this as his home-away-from-home. He had made so many friends and hand picking this daycare was a no-brainer! Do your research and follow your instincts. It's what I did and we couldn't have been happier or more satisfied. My son misses his pals but I'm thankful that, because he attended Over The Rainbow, he had an advantage over some of the other kids because he went into his new school with confidence, an open heart and earnestness to connect with his new friends and teachers. I will forever be grateful. Thank You Miss Leslie and all the other teachers who came through for us.

I will probably re-review in the coming years when my child enters the older classrooms to see how the development is handled. As of now though it is pretty good.

My wife and I also love that we get to see pictures of what she's doing with her classmates throughout the day. Also - TLE is competitive from a pricing perspective. I thought the cost would be way higher than what we've seen around Voorhees/Cherry Hill since they have an elevated level of care, they use a phone app, they provide updates/photos throughout the day, etc... but the truth is, it's about the same as what we were paying elsewhere. In fact, after discussing cost and asking about potential discounts with TLE management, they actually identified a discount that we qualified for. I would recommend TLE Voorhees to anyone!
