I have lived with a horrible painful pinched nerve & muscle between my hip and leg for 5 years. Because I hurt so bad I would walk with a limp and my left knee would swell because of all the imbalance. Even after drs, X-rays, meds for pains, chiropractor and 2 other physical therapy companies. I could not get better. In fact I was getting worse every year. So after being referred to UC Davis sports medicine. The Dr told me he would send me to Kimes " they will get you better!" I got a referral with Dr. Julia Wright in August. Well its been 2 1/2 month. I saw Julia once a week, plus I did the recommended therapy at home. Due to an…read moreongoing severe back problem, which, I was told warranted surgery, I have had quite a few PT's since early 1997, when I was injured in a fall. A few were more successful than others, but I always had some level of pain, which I had learned to tolerate. My job required physical activity, and I needed to make it work. I wanted to avoid the surgery, because the outcome was not always guaranteed to be what I wanted it to be. Michael Crooks has given me many actual pain free periods (weeks and sometimes months) with his unique, low key, but capable method of evaluation and approach to treatment with the emphasis on being able to move well with a minimum of pain. This business is not run like a sterile clinic, but rather (if you are motivated to do what you need to get better, and believe me, it is not at all complicated and does not require having fancy equipment at your house) you will be given the utmost attention to what you specifically need for your work requirements as well, so that you can usually avoid getting hurt over and over again on your job. You also are given strategies to deal with problems yourself as they come up, once you have your problem under control. I am not saying that I never have to go back, but usually it is after I have done something stupid, like taking a trip requiring sitting still in my wife's car for 8 hours at a time... Overall, the emphasis of this practice is not to keep you as a lifelong meal ticket of a patient, but rather, to get you better and show you ways of staying well. And Michael Crooks and his very capable staff excel in this area. You cannot ask for more than that.

They are both fabulous. I have seen a huge improvement in my sons speech as well as his confidence. They make speech therapy fun. Both therapists we have take their time and have adapted to my sons specific needs. They call me with a weekly reminder which as a busy mom of four I appreciate. They have always worked with our schedule when we have needed to adjust. I bring my toddler along with me and I appreciate the books, toys, coloring pages they have in the lobby while we wait. Also his favorite stickers. It is a nice office complex that we often walk around while we wait.
