A great store and a funny lady that owns it. The clothing us super, and her taste is incredible. I love this shop.

Great finds Friendly staff…read moreGood rotation If you've been to Chester CT even once, you know "quaint" is in the top three descriptors of anything contained therein. That applies to Lark in spades. Walking into this shop, you immediately grasp the variety available between decorations, women's clothes, little token items like soaps, and a treasure trove of thoughtful gift options. Plenty of shops can offer a decent selection, but perhaps not as well as Lark rotates their options, which is a real draw here - to see what's available each time you visit. However, even better yet is that when you reach for a price tag in Chester, you'll typically be prepared for sticker shock...and that's simply not the case at Lark, which is an outstanding feeling. Reasonable prices for quality finds that meet a variety of gift-giving needs is a business well worth sharing. Highly recommended.

After arriving in the very cute and little town of Chester, the first business on Water Street is…read moreLark. Lark is a woman's boutique, they sell quality sweaters, purses and other cashmere and wool accessories. There are so many other little accessories, like unique fair trade earrings, and hair accessories. They also have a whole assortment of decor for your home or your Christmas tree. These are my favorite. From little knit bears to a not so little wooden deer. The little knickknacks are truly so unique and equally as adorable. What else is adorable? They have a baby section at Lark. From the tiny holiday dresses, to the softest plushies, and so many toys and books. The one reason I can't give five stars to Lark is the cost, everything is a pretty penny here. If you're looking for cashmere gloves, or some moon and star earrings, this is your place.

The Saybrook Country Barn is a pretty nice place. Not cheap, but nice…read more I normally come here for furniture but they sell all kinds of stuff for your home like rugs, curtains, bedding and countless smaller items (some lame, some nice). It's definitely got a "country" feel so if you were expecting modern or contemporary things this probably isn't the place for you. It's a pretty big place and actually in two separate buildings. In one building they actually have a small selection of fairly upscale clothing items (now for men and women) and a restaurant, though I haven't eaten there so I can't comment on it. They have probably the best selection of furniture around from several different brands. Some people think it's expensive but I guess it's all relative. If you were comparing this place to Bob's Discount Furniture then yeah it's expensive. But most of it is made domestically and you can order specific types of wood, finishes, hardware, fabrics, etc. just the way you want it. So I put SCB in the "you get what you pay for" category. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. I'm guessing based on the way I'm treated that they don't work on commission but I guess I could be wrong. It can get busy on weekends so it may be hard to get help if it's really busy. But you can usually eventually find someone to take your money. Overall it's a pretty good place if it fits your style.

She even brought 2 large rugs in her car to help us make a decision about what worked best. Susan has gone out of her way to be helpful in many ways. I definitely recommend you work with her if you can.
