My girlfriend's heater stopped working, so she called this company. They told her the required…read moreparts were "rare" and recommended replacing the entire system for $8,000+, citing the age of the unit. When she declined, they suddenly "found" the part and quoted $1,800, then took a deposit. A quick search showed the OEM part is widely available for around $150, and the job typically takes 1-2 hours. Charging $1,800 for that kind of work is hard to justify. To their credit, when I called and requested a refund of the deposit, they returned it without issue (hence the 2 stars). That said, the initial sales approach was misleading and predatory. For context, another company has since quoted $460 for the same repair.

Very responsive service and "diagnosed" a defective blower motor that was "one of the most…read moreexpensive motors I've seen" and "don't know if I can get one" immediately went into "upsell a new furnace mode" and was assured it was a "competitive price" Big mistake should have immediately called two other companies for quote. Installation was flawless, but the price was exorbitant at $8300. $6-6500 would have been a fair price for a $3400 heater marked up 1.5X and a 6-8 hours of labor at more than $200/hr labor. Met with owner and he justified the price mostly due to "knowing his costs", generous salaries for his employees, enormous overhead, advertising and a "small profit margin" Lesson learned. When the technician goes into upsell mode and tells you they are offering a competitive price, don't believe them. Get three quotes. Also, they remove any negative reviews and want you to not post anything detrimental on social media.

I just had a great experience with these guys! On the first major cold night of the fall, we…read morefigured out that our heat wasn't working. The pilot light of our boiler was on, but otherwise the appliance wasn't running as normal. I called and spoke with their office on Sunday afternoon, then Tom called me back just half an hour later and was able to arrange an appointment the following day. It turns out our boiler just needed a small reset, but Tom was really generous with his time and expertise and made sure to educate me about how our radiator heating systems works and how to troubleshoot issues in the future. He also alerted me to a major issue with the hot water pipe link to our water heater, which we had to urgently replace last winter. The company we used was not great- they left the old water heater in our basement and seemed a tad shady- so I wasn't at all surprised to hear that other aspects of the job were not done properly. Tom and his team were available to fix the pipe AND remove the old water heater the same day for what I considered a reasonable price. I've had enough poor experiences with maintenance companies and really feel that Flourtown Heating is a trustworthy honest business. They were all courteous, professional, and seemed like genuinely nice human beings. I will absolutely be using them again, and can't recommend them enough!
